Tried taking a picture and I think I may have broke my phone : ( Not the best day I have had!

Been trying to get something from the log files but can see anything relevant. Can you suggest.

Just put the AppleNForceATA.kext in the Extensions dir and it still doesnt work! Seems like it failing at this point.

Any ideas?

Did you repair permissions ?
Did you recreate the kextcache ?

Thanks for replying zephyroth.

I moved a kext from the Extensions directory which appeared to causing the problem. Cant remember the what it was exactly something like applendes .... I dont know I cant remember. Anyway it seems to have got a bit further and its picked up my graphics card but then say...

DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
.....

Maybe this is the applendes.... Maybe it stands for directory service. I dont know.

Anyway I have repaired permissions. Allow when I done this and re-run it, it says something else is wrong with the filesystem!!!!

I havent recreated the kextcache. Dont know how to do that. Will have a look on the net.

kextcache -a i386 -e :)

Cheers for that roisoft : )

That file I mentioned earlier. It wasnt anything like applendes. I was NVDAResma.kext!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is this file

Just put it back in the extensions dir and falls over like it did previously.

Anyway I am still getting:
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.

What are the exact commands that I need to do:
clear the kext cache
repair permissons
then finally create the kext cache again?

I presume this is the correct order?

Still isnt working!

roisoft:kextcache -a i386 -e :)
This didnt work for me. Complained about the architecture

I have moved all the GeForce kext from the Extensions dir. That didnt make a difference. : (

What does it mean when it displays
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
DirectoryService: Couldnt find root user. Sleeping and trying again.

All the time?

Thanks for that nfoav8or. I havent seen people putting kexts on the desktop before! I think I understand what you are doing but not sure why?

I think I have done what you mentioned in the link. What build was this on? Was it Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.1 AMD?

I havent mentioned that I already have installed mac os 10.4.8 installed on another partition.

When I fixed this, I downloaded the AppleNForceATA(it looks like from medievil) package from the internet. I unpacked it and it just worked : ) I think the package had stuff from Natit & Titan.

Although I have never been quite happy with the installation because the applications have never worked properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Managed to get a dump of dmesg. I have attached system.txt. Please help!!!!! It does look like AppleNForceATA found 0 units but previously it found units. Dont understand this!

Also I notice that Matching service count = 2 repeats a number of times. We I run mac os x 10.4.8 this count doesnt stop at 2. Any ideas?
