I'm using rev1 dvd and trying to install. But whenever I boot into the dvd, right after it detects firewire i get this message, I never get into the GUI part of the installation, all just boot screen messages.
I've tried a few different things, tried reburning the iso, using slowest speeds possible w/two different programs and verifying the burn after each instance. I've rearranged my dvd drive to different combinations of slave/master on the ide cable. I've booted with -x option, same messages. Everything I do craps out at this message.
I have an M2NPV-VM mobo (6150 geforce and nforce430 w/300gig sata and 120gig IDE which I'm trying to install this to)
What's going on?

Alright, I got this fixed. I disconnected my SATA drive and put my IDE drive as primary master instead of secondary master. I don't know which of those two did the trick. I installed Leopard on my first of two partitions with GUID then installed efi. Only problem is that I get HFS+ partition error on boot now. Is this because the partition isn't set as primary or active? How can I do so via the installation dvd?

Use MBR as partition table.

Yes, thanks naquaada, got it fixed a little bit after I posted. All works except for lan, and qe/ci.

Is lan not detected or only wrong configured?

The reason I got that "still waiting for root device" is the way I had my IDE cables configured. I had to place the dvd drive on primary slave and the hard drive I was installing to on primary master. Then it was able to continue as always. Try doing it that way, kryss05, even if you're not installing to the ide hard drive and are installing to the sata. And the lan I got fixed, naquaada, only problem now is that everytime I download something, I get the you must shut down your computer now screen, and have to shut down everything.

I got around this by adding -f to my startup options. I've now added it permanently to the com.apple.boot.plist

is your hdd a master?! this is very important. and yes, satas have master options too! not via jumper but via bios

i cant edit my Jumper Settings in BIOS :( and i dont know if its jumpered master BUT i think so because my DVD-Recorder is a ATA Drive. So theres no need for the HDD to be Slave

do you have a IDE or SATA?

@xisix

They aren't JUMPER settings... it depends on which SATA port you plug in to. SATA-0 is Master vs. SATA-1 being its slave... SATA-2 is another Master (on a separate controller), and SATA-3 is Slave. This isn't change-able in BIOS... this is a hard wire issue. where it is plugged in does matter.

I know is important to be a master HDD..SATA and of corse i put master, slave, etc a put one hdd IDE master and dvd slave ide master dvd secondary master...etc..

Im also getting the still waiting for root device

On x2 3600
DFI Lanparty ultra2-m2 Nforce4
2Gb Adata DDRII 800
250GB ATA Maxtor Leopard
250GB SATA Seagate Gentoo linux

If anyone thinks its ata thats currently causing the problems let me know, i dont have the sata drive plugged in on boot or durring the install.

I can mirror my Gentoo install over to my ATA drive with out any problems (LVM is love ;) ) as always all help is appreciated

OK i feel noobish (im not) anyways i overlooked what drivers were installed so i selected the appropriate ones via the customize button. iI would imagine this is what some of us have done. Make sure you select the proper chipset drivers this would easily cause the os not to find the root device indicating it has no drivers for the ATA or SATA controller.
