How can I beta test this release? Rev. 2 will have a ppf patch? It's better and faster to download!

I have a problematic notebook with nforce mcp51 + sata hard-disk. It will good if I could test my with my specs before rev.2 final release.

zephyroth

Rev.2 will be another ISO as a lot of changes has been made on it.

After Rev.2, updates will be ppf patchs.

It's currently in beta testing by the Wiki Mods.
It will be released before you know it.

Just be patient for a bit, you could try Rev1 for now.

Hey Zeph ;)

Got the LAN fixed ey, good work m8. Also nice to add additional languages for us foreigners ;)
I'm gonna get the rev2 for future use since the rev1 works stable enough for now.

So thx again for either release. Who'd think the name "Zephyroth" would become famous ;)

I have gaming MSI GX710 laptop. It would be nice if i can be beta tester to check is this DVD working on my laptop. Some info is on this page http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodtmpspec&prod_no=1235&maincat_no=135&cat2_no=&cat3_no=#menu

Zephyroth thx for the support

If you're adding new languages, only the one selected during installation should be selected. Some images have all languages selected by default which needs 2 Gig on Tiger. I would'nt apply any 3rd-party-software on the disc 'cause such software (f.e. Colloquy, Cyberduck, NeoOffice) is updated so often that you have outdated software on the DVD in two weeks. Maybe it's possible to save space on zhe disc if some progs/packages where prepared with the Xslimmer first, normally we don't need any PPC code on an OSx86 Install DVD.

My personal wishes: better ATI support (X1600Pro and HD2600 for me), PS/2 support and a better working System Profiler which recognizes AMD CPUs correctly. Plz add a script which makes the partition/HD bootable automatically, too.

Greetings, Naquaada.

Plz add a script which makes the partition/HD bootable automatically, too.
This has been fixed in zephyroth's Rev.2 :)

PS/2 support
This has also been fixed!

a better working System Profiler which recognizes AMD CPUs correctly
I am thinking of a way to do that, other than doing it manually or using EFI!

I think that one would have to write a script which automatically detects the proper CPU Name,
and which then writes this name into the AboutThisMac.strings file.

I personally don't know how to detect an AMD CPU without showing "Unknown Processor" in OS X,
however, I do know that some programs, like GeekBench, are able to detect it:

Kind Regards,

Hm, the System Profiler of Myzar 10.4.7 shows the correct information, I think (pic). Only the text 'InsanelyMac SX4' (for SiXty4) I inserted myself. If we should get the System Profiler so that he could display correct model names, they should be based on 'InsanelyMac' and 'InsanelyBook'. I think the forum deserves it, without Insanelymac we never would have come so far.

Also for RC2 DVD: Plz reduce the darwin wait time back to 10 seconds like in 10.4.x after the installation. I know it could be changed later, but its annoying. Could anyone create an apple.com.boot.plist editor? This would speed up things.

Something different: Does anyone know a good trick to get the black arrows back in the dock? There are some mods, but mostly they set the dock to flat style, too. Are there some demo programs to show the Core Animation abilities yet?

Greetings, Naquaada.

Puttabong
01-09-2008, 02:04 AM
Ah, I think that EFI allows to display it properly. At least your screenshot looks like EFI usage.

Also for RC2 DVD: Plz reduce the darwin wait time back to 10 seconds like in 10.4.x after the installation. I know it could be changed later, but its annoying. Could anyone create an apple.com.boot.plist editor? This would speed up things.
Quite easy to do it manually, though I might start to work on one.
I changed mine to 1 second :)

I wanted to commend Zephyroth on efforts made to make osx run in all its glory for us AMD users. Unfortunately the first revision from Zephyroth 10.5.1 did not work out for me. The dvd comes up and in the middle of darwin loading it kernel panics along the way and never gets to any installation screen at all.

Here are my specs from CPUz and curious if it is at all compatible with rev 1 and 2.

Thanks!

Wondering if release 2 will run on it. I really, really hope so. I got 10.4 to work on it but that was
only with a USB drive and the performance was unacceptable.

Anything I can do to help test just ask. I'm sending this from my Kalyway install on my Intel Machine. I love Leopard!

Hey everyone I have used Rev 1 and had many problems but fixed most except Network and Graphics card so I was wondering if you could fill me in on Rev 2 and let me know if my system is going to run this release well. And Thank you soo much Zephyroth for the first release and all your hard work on Rev 2 I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Processor : AMD Athalon 64 3700+ (SSE, SSE2, SSE3, x86-64)

Mainboard: ASUSTek Computer INC.
Model: NAGAI2L
Chipset: Nvidia Geforce 6150 Rev. A2
SouthBridge: nForce 410/430 MCP

My Graphics Card is embedded with shared memory Nvidia Geforce 6150 LE
In the past with Rev1 I've managed to get the system to recognize the card but not let me change resolutions or anything else.

I also have 2 gigs of RAM

Please let me know if any of the beta testers are testing it out or if you already know that these things will work in Rev2. I'm also willing to test on my system if you need a tester with the previous specs.

wow! Now we´re talking!

it seems amazing! No problems with boot anymore, support for nforce4 lan, and geforces 5,6,7,8 video!
Can´t wait to install it!
I had some problems to write at NTFS partitions. I think it would be very useful if some kind of support be enable at rev.2

anyway, good job! Can´t wait for the final version.

Hey Zephyroth, I just bought a new pc with a phenom quad core, do you have any tester with that CPU? I would love to test otherwise. I can give you my specs if needed.

BTW, the system does work with Tubgirls latest release and I updated it to 10.4.11 with HChKn's installer, which still has a few bugs but I got the CPU to be recognized but I think it's only using two cores ATM not sure though...

I always would help to test, but my boards are all nForce 3 and nForce 4 (SLI) which are very common. But I'm open to test any hack.

Here are things I noticed:

- Are there known problems with different Athlon 64 CPUs? I installed without problems on an 3700+, also a friend on his FX57. But we both also have an 4000+ and there were problems, like the '1 minute left' thing. All CPUs are Socket 939 with San Diego Core on nForce 4 chipset.
- Sometimes the cursor keys weren't working. Keyboard is connected via PS/2, all other keys are working.
- The volume control in the menu bar and the volume/mute keys on my Logitech keyboard sometimes have no effect, while in the System Preferences volume and balance is working. After logout/login it's working again, this never appeared in Tiger. I have Realtek ALC850 Audio.
- After patching my Gfx drivers there was something curious: every time the desktop appeared (maybe if loginwindow was executed), my CRT monitor made an automatic degauss. After I ran Onyx 1.9 (Leopard only) this problem was cured.
- There is no more loading bar 'Starting Mac OS X' after the grey boot screen, only a blue screen for a rather long time. I patched loginwindow.app to enter a CPU type, could this be the problem?
- Why isn't AppleVIAATA.kext used anymore? HD access seems to be a lot slower with nForceATA. Without VIAATA.kext is also no more support for the often used SiliconImage SiI3114 SATA Raid controllers. As I was booting the Install DVD on a system (also nForce 4) with an unformatted SATA-HD (500GB) booting stopped, last output was something with NTFS drivers. I booted with my long-time-used Myzar 10.4.6 DVD (which uses AppleVIAATA.kext) I had no problems with booting and was able to format the HD in disk utility.
- How good tested is overclocking? This could maybe an error source, my friend has an FX-57 and already slighly overclocked Tiger 10.4.7 had problems with IDE. We're no experts in overclocking, that maybe something for others.
- The install DVD isn't booting when I put it into my 1571 drive, it's only making scratchy rappling noises.

Additional Software: I would recommend Onyx 1.9. It can cure some problems on the system and helps to clean it up. Useful is also 'KeyViewer' from www.macupdate.com, it's a little Applescript that opens the inbuilt onscreen-keyboard. Especcially for Windows-switchers its good to have an overview to the new keyboard layout. Does anyone know a good demo for CoreAnimation to show Leopard's new features? To have a game, how about PlasmaPong? It's a color-spectaculum and size is less than 10 MB.

If there are people who have problems with X1x00 cards tell me in the ATI thread, I will try to patch drivers. I need the device ID for this, the exact card name including manufacturer would also be good. For german (or maybe other) users: I made a Windows keyboard hack that switches Alt and Strg (Ctrl) like in the default MacOS layout. There're also versions which are disabling the Windows keys and/or remapping Caps Lock with AltGr, so it's very easy to get the @ in Windows.

Booster: we need some more system infos. If you only have an Athlon XP it won't work ;)

Posted also in my "kernel panic" thread but I figure I will place this here since most visit this thread.
Here is a camera phone picture of what I am running into trying to get the blasted install screen. I have yet to see anything past this point.

I have tried the following at boot

mach_kernel -x
mach_kernel -x -f
mach_kernel -x -f platform=X86PC (and tried ACPI
-legacy

same stuff above just without the mach_kernel but I think you get the point. I have hooked up ps2 keyboard/mouse and disabled the onboard USB. I have also disabled Serial ATA, Parrallel port, onboard audio, onboard lan. I am out of options I think.

The ATI Xpress 200 maybe a problem. Especcially the Xpress 200M chipsets for notebooks is problematic. The harddisk is slow, Audio isn't working on some laptops and you have no CoreImage/Quartz Graphics, what is the biggest problem. Here's a link in insanelymac:

hi there!
new to this place...
i'm on an asus notebook z53t with amd turion 64 x2 which sports the nVidia MCP51 controller.
to zephyroth:
thanks a lot for your work!
i tried rev 1 but i couldn't install to hd because of the MCP51 which had serious problem (in tiger too) with the old AppleNForceATA.kext.
i also tried install via vmware like i did with tiger but it stop with code signing error...

i've been testing the new AppleNForceATA.kext by medevil (which you can find here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77071 ) and i can say that it works pretty good even on my MCP51.
so i'm asking you PLEASE, PLEASE include this kext in rev 2.
let me know if you plan to do it, or you if can point me to a ppf including this kext to apply to rev 1 iso.

thanks a lot.

zephyroth

For the 1000ths time, it's already included in Rev.2 ...

:-)

But thanks ! At least you told me what works on your system !

sorry if i asked that, it's not always easy to find things already answered, especially in really long threads. can't wait! :-)

if you need my help for testing i'll be glad to do it.

Well here are the specs if u are still interested:

Asus M2NBP-VM CSM (NForce 430B Micro ATX mobo) with SoundMax ADI AD1986A onboard soundcard and Marvell Yukon onboard

@ zephyroth:

If it's so problematic to find answers then start a new thread which shows the new features of RC2 only. This would be easier for us and less annoying to you to say everything again and again. But the users (to define: we) must understand that this is a developer's thread only, no posts, questions or anything else from others. It's the only way to keep a short overview of the changes and new features.

Puttabong:@braid: The only way to read/write NTFS on Mac OS X is using a third party program, called MacFuse!

in the uphuck 10.4.9 i dont have to install any other program to do so, of course it installs ntfs-3g (i dont remember it well) at installation but, why it doesnt work with the 10.5.2 ? I guess it´s another leo problem...

oh another things that I do NOT KNOW if its appropriate to say here in this topic but if not, just tell me and I remove it.

any chance of a genius webcam usb works? and any chance of a genius mousepan tablet 5x4 works? It would be amazing if so...

My report about Rev.2 Installation:

I'm testing Rev.2 in my notebook:
CPU: AMD Mobile Sempron 3400+ (SSE3, 64bit)
VGA: Nvidia GeForce Go 6150
Chipset: Nforce MCP51
HD: Fujitsu SATA 40GB
LAN: Nvidia
Wireless: Broadcom

Installation goes fine with some combination.
But, after install, when I try to boot with grub I get the message: Invalid or unsupported executable format.
Someone have an idea on how to correct this problem?

Well, I made something, downloaded netkas pc efi v8 (I have to use some special for amd???) put on grub as kernel, so I get boot on Leo, but, I get message from Nforce Sata driver, something like:
AppleNforceAta: scan 1 disks found
(... other system messages ...)
Until here is ok, but for some reason Leo tries to load again and I receive this:

AppleNforceAta: scan 0 disks found
AppleNforceAta: sata phy reset failed

And...
Still waits for root device.

Someone can help me?

Maybe it could be because on installation I choose to install the newest kernel???

@ 1207FX

Try this (if you want, of course) copy the file to pendrive formated in FAT labeled "EFI"

boot into install dvd and open disk utility and format the HD and choice the GUID scheme, close the disk utility, plug the pendrive, open a terminal and type this:

diskutil list

take note of hd number (diskX, X=device number) (e.g. if it disk1 - then X = 1 (X will be used later)

cd /volumes/efi/pc_efi_v80

umount -f /dev/diskXsY (X=hd Y=partition)

./startupfiletool /dev/rdiskXsY ./boot_v8

dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1

dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1

your guid drive should be ready for booting now, close the terminal and follow with the install.

Hey Skyper. I don't know really, what your problem is, but try following:
- plug the DVD-Rom and the HDD about one cable into the IDE or SATA port
- set the HDD to Master (by setting the jumper on your HDD) and the DVD-Rom to Slave (by setting the jumper in the middle section of the pins)

Now check in your Bios, if the devices can be detected to Master and Slave and try again. I had a similiar problem and it worked with this way. Check this thread out:

Hi prateesh,

I guess your setup could work, the only thing that I'm not sure about is your video card/adapter.

However, if the Tiger JaS DVD didn't work, then I'm not sure if Leopard could do the job.

You can try it though!

I personally suggest that you wait a few days, until Revision 2 of the DVDs is released by zephyroth.

You can also consider trying Rev.1 until then, but you will have to manually fix the bootloader and some other issues.

Kind Regards, Puttabong @ this System -> http://www.imagehut.eu/images/1088Bild%202.png

Stop asking for test Beta Rev.2.

It is obvious that you want to test only in the hope to see it functioning correctly on your machine.
And you will not make any test if it's indeed the case ...

Moreover the majority of the people who ask to test have a hardware more or less close to the one of current beta testers or known to be recognized correctly.

I will make an announce if I really need new beta testers.
And it will be only according to the hardware that you have and of which I want to know if it's supported or not by Rev.2!

Again, I think I made a mistake on the probable release date ...

I was too sure of my ability to make a new DVD (better than Rev.1) in 2 months and at that time there's still a lot of things that need to be fixed.

I'm working on it everyday and it's in progress.

Hi zephyroth,

My motherboard is ASUS M2N-E, with NVIDIA nForce® 570 Ultra chipset.

So I just wanna know if you have beta testers for nForce 570 chipset, because I've read somewhere that the problem it's the chipset, and not my SATA HDD.

Hi there,

I wanna share my installation experiences with revision 1 and help the staff to make a perfect revision 2 ;-)

My hardware specifications:
Laptop ID: Medion 97900
CPU: AMD Turion 64 Mobile MK-36 2.0Ghz. SSE, SSE2, SSE3
Chipset (Southbridge): nVidia nForce 410/430 MCP rev. A3.
Videocard: NVIDIA Geforce Go 6150.
HDD: Samsung HM080JI S-ATA, 80 GB.
Audio: Realtek ACL883.
WiFi: Zydas Z1211B.

1) My first installation attempt stopped after installation screen appeared. The installation froze and after a lot of internet research I figured out that the first revision didn't support S-ATA drives on NForce chipsets. I injected the the iso with the new ATA kext and from there the installation went smooth. I already read that this is fixed in R2 so this shouldn't be happen anymore.

2) After installation, it came to my first try to boot which ended up abruptly with a kernel panic. It worked out that the problem was a non support NVidia graphic card. I had to delete some of the NV* and Ge* kext and after this the configuration wizard appears.

3) After installation and configuration the system worked, partially. I had to install some drivers for my Zydas Z1211B. Actually this a common used chipset for WLan adapters. Maybe it is a good idea to included it in the iso. The driver can be found here: ftp://ftp.zyxeltech.de/ZyDAS/ZD1211_USB/Macintosh/ZDA211MacUSB_install_4_5_7_0.dmg

4) After a while I noticed that my touchpad wasn't working properly. The tap wasn't working. So I had to replace the one from the DVD with this one: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=21952&st=20&p=160695&#entry160695

5) There were some problems with my graphic card. To get it work I had to install the the MacVidia driver 1.0.81 AND NVInjectGo (just NVInjectGo didn't work) and the LaptopDisplay.kext from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=37630

6) My sound card wasn't working and I had to install the kext from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36520

My wish list for revision 2:
1) Full support for my graphic card, because I don't have QE / CI support right now. Zeph, I know this is not exactly your business ;-)

2) A kernel which supports SpeedStep or PowerNow. My CPU consumes the maximum power all the time. That means the fan is running all the time and the battery time is very short. So maybe it would be a good idea to provide the second revision with CPU throttle kext and/or kernel to reduce the power consumption (and the fan noise of course ;-)

3) Support for my X10 WTI remote controller

And at last I noticed two odd things and I don't know how I can fix this.

1) The system start takes very long if an usb drive is plugged in. Sometimes it doesn't start at all.
2) The MAC OS clock interferes with the XP clock. If I set the correct time in MAC OS the Windows XP clock is 1 hour behind the actual time. If I correct the time and next time I boot into MAC OS the time is 1 hour ahead so I have to correct this clock as well which means means the XP clock is wrong again and so on... Does anybody know what's wrong here?

cheers,
komeet

I can't wait to test this out. I got an HTPC, mainly used for satellite dvb, known as the CW3000HD.
If possible, I'd love to get my hands on the beta and see about getting kext's made for my pci and usb dvb/atsc devices and getting MythTV running with it.
Would look sweet as hell also, in 1080p glory.
Quick rundown of hardware:
Asus M2NPV-VM Mobo
AMD64 FX64 Processor
Geforce 6150 Video
Nforce Lan
A few other little things...
Would someone please put this on megashares instead of torrent when released? Megashares, you can upload a file w/out splitting it. Torrents take forever. Of course, ftp access is ideal ;)

Just a small (nealy OT) question:
Why do you keep the Beta closed for Rev.2 ?
Normally I understand a closed BETA for a product thats gonna be sold ... buy you re not gonna sell it, don t you?
So, besides keeping some noobs from asking stupid questions, what is the idea of having it in a closed group.
Adding some more people from time to time, when exotic chips come up, will just make your work endless ... so why not throw it out and lets "fix it" in a really huge group, as I think that all people in this forum here are really interrested in gettin Leopard up and running ;o)

Just my 2 cents ....

in case you din't found an answer to your question : zephyroth:Vinbuntu --->

Imagine if I release it on Rapidshare. Imagine the number of people who will ask me the password ...
And how can we organize us in order to have clean reports if thousands of persons test it ?

I think it's not a good idea and by seeing how much persons ask to beta test I believe the majority just hope to see it working on their system.

So a few number of beta testers with different systems (representative of the majority of AMD systems) is a good way to improve Rev.2.

I think thats the same way Microsoft thought when they gave out Betas of Vista .... and see how "improved" Vista is *LOL*

Actually my problem is, that my setup is so standard (A8N5X, Opteron 165, 2GB Kingston, Quadro FX 3400 (which never made it into QE/CI under Leopard)) that I wouldn t be a Beta candidate for your testphase ... and its killing me to read all your "protocols" without having it under my fingers ;o)

Do not confuse all.

Your card doesn't allow QE/CI ? Ok but Rev.2 will not do anything more for that as long as a suitable driver will not be available.(or maybe you're not skilled enough to make it work ...)

I'm not recoding Leopard ...

Making an OSX86 release is just to put some things together (kexts, apps, some scripts ...) so that it will work on most systems.

I'm not waiting for anything. I don't have any release plan. I'm not organized. I'm just free and I will continue to be.

Those who want a new release ...

I've just one thing to say : All they have to do is to make one or be patient.

Is this the version that all of us are using or is it some prerelease software thats been out way before t?
When downloading the torrent, there were 71 files that were stored in a folder named "Documents."
Upon extracting the .iso, the DVD was a whopping 4.7GB disk.

Please let me know if this is what everybody is using for 10.5.1.release of zephyroth

And will QE/CI will work on nVidia geforce go 6150 ?

So let's hear your solution. Perhaps you can put onto the wiki for others to try. As well as posting it on insanelymac and share with the people over there as well. But let see if I can duplicate what you've got.

01-30-2008, 07:28 PM
Ok, everyone let me make a how-to, only thing is its on tiger, im going to do some experimenting with leopard - rev2 (zep) and later on today im going to to post a screen shot - if you dont believe me -

Notes
Major mouse taring
a random kernel panic about once a day
Dock sometimes has the problem the new mac pros are having - cant remember what its called
Ill post later today - this will probally show up on the osx86.wikidot.com because thats where I have full write access, and maby on insanelymac.

PS - My solution involves being an ADC and getting the documentation then getting the linux driver from ATI and then try to find out how it addresses the memory (kinda hard cuz its not open source) then I hex the hell out of the system and reboot and walla QE/CI - still working on hardware acceleration though - but ill have that soon! ;)

sorry for the spelling - im only 12

im currently making a disc image of my osx86 just in case anything goes wrong - might be easyier to just upload somewhere and let people download it off there... im on the imac right now, so i wont be able to make a how to until later on today

vinbuntu
01-30-2008, 07:42 PM
So does it mean you are going to make a driver? or You are going to upload a bunch of files for us to hack it ourselves???

01-30-2008, 07:53 PM
I doubt i would make a driver, like i could... but were talking a bit longer then....... ill get to work.....

01-30-2008, 07:59 PM
Do you think that the EFI-GFX solution from Netkas would work better mixed in with what you have so far?

01-30-2008, 08:07 PM
ummm while again the GFX would be a hard because its nivada so, i have another theroy.....

the intel GMA950 addresses its memory same as the 1100/200m/200 meaning that if we could get vanillia on the amd we would have qe/ci with no editing but thats imposible because 200m only works on amd meaning its never been done... so if we took apart an intel driver and got exactly how it addresses the memory we are in bussniess for an easy driver with no hexs or anything... my ways complicated... and i would only recomd you use it if your comfortable with editing kexts/hexing/and able to reinstall osx if anything goes wrong

Have you had anyone testing on a sis based system. If not then I could do that this weekend, I'm currently away from university and my amd box, but am heading back up on friday. I can give you exact chipsets when I get back but the major parts are:

AMD X2 4600+ S939
BFG nVidia 7900GT/OC
Asus A8S-X
Creative Audigy 4 (non-pro)

If possible I wouldn't mind helping test rev 2 and will give more details about it when I could.

EDIT:
just grabbed the chipset details and such from asus website so:

Chipset: (Northbridge)SiS 756, (Southbridge)SiS 965L
Audio: ADI AD1986A (if I get audio through either onboard or audigy thats cool)
Lan: Intel 82540EM PCI Gb LAN

01-30-2008, 10:00 PM
7600GT/OG isent supported is it? im not sure so dont critizise me because im an ATI guy not Nivadia - i cant even spell it lol

01-30-2008, 10:02 PM
Also please post your full specs

01-30-2008, 10:09 PM
have you tried alliza audio? package? and are you using the rev 2 or the origional amd leopard disc?

01-30-2008, 10:12 PM
If you'd actually read the post you'd notice I said I haven't actually tried putting anything on it as yet, since I'm away from my machine.

Reading the other specs and other thread I've seen there is support for the Nvidia 7 series cards. Also what more spec do you need than my processor, motherboard, graphics card and audio setup? Anything else is just peripheral really.

01-30-2008, 10:17 PM
sorry, im a bit out today, i mean could you list all your processor features - (eg - see sse2, see3) blah blah...... and please dont be rude, your the one who wants help right?

Ok, although I would assume the capabilities are the same as all other X2 chipsets that have been mentioned previously, but here they are anyway, (admittedly from the amd product data sheet and wiki)

Manchester (90 nm SOI)

* CPU-Stepping: E4
* L1-Cache: 64 + 64 KiB (Data + Instructions), per core
* L2-Cache: 256, 512 KiB fullspeed, per core
* MMX, Extended 3DNow!, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, AMD64, Cool'n'Quiet, NX Bit
* Socket 939, HyperTransport (1000 MHz, HT1000)

Anything else on the processor front?

Oh, I wasn't being rude, just a bit confused as to why you were leaping in with multiple posts about the thing without being a bit more careful (generally helps to write more than one sentence in each post, and if you happen to post before you meant to edit rather than making another post [ just future advice for a bit nicer read])

01-30-2008, 10:34 PM
yeah, the reason I do that is because some noobs or complete idiots don't read edits so as standard I just use the multiple posts....

Big experience from insanely mac

oh, and as for beta's talk with bonkey..

I'm a coder and musician, and I've worked with OSX for years.
Pretty much everything works with r1 except the dual onboard LANs. And I'm writing a driver to make that work. So it's not like I'm mooching off anyone.

Anyway keep up the good work Zeph.

Yes, reburn the DVD at a slower speed.

do i need to reburn dvd again

This my md5 checksum is this correct

That error means that Darwin can't read from the install disk, for whatever reason. Typically this refers to a bad burn. Depending on your burning software, it's unlikely that the ISO was corrupt (unless you got an error when burning). More likely is it's a bad burner, bad media, need to reflash cdrw firmware, etc.

Yeah, i thik the same
Maybe the quality of the DVD isn't good ;(
Spend a little more buying a better DVD, that should work, also the slow burning,
anyway, i've burned my tiger isos and the leopard rev1 at 6x and no problem =) (my only problem was that my hd wasn't recognized by the tiger and leopard installations :'(
good look ;)
Reading, answering and waiting for the Rev2 from Mexico =)

Reburning DVD with 4X ( eariler was even lower 2x ) solved the problem

Even my inbuild keyboard & touchpad are working along with my sata hdd; which is also recongnized during installation

Will do installation tonight & post result here late night (Indian Time)

Ah, Prateesh, thanks for bring my post to this discussion. That settles mainly all of my problems. Indeed, I am still anxious for Rev. 2 as this would reduce the complexity with the bootloader problems. For all of those that are part of the developing team for Rev. 2, below are my specs. Please incorporate them so I can run a true flawless O/S. Two Thumbs Up!

Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology K8NXP-SLI, nForce 4 SLI Chipset MOBO
Central-Processing-Unit: AMD 3500+ Venice Core Socket 939 Processor, SSE2 & 3 (not overclocked)
Memory/Modules: 3GB PC3200 DDR-400 RAM, (2x1024MB Corsair 3200C2PT, 2x512MB Crucial Ballistix)
Video/Graphics Card(s): 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT (Gigabyte Technology) (2x128MB in SLI Mode)
Hard Drive (HD): Western Digital SATA 320GB Hardrive w/ 16MB cache
Burners: 8x NU DVD Burner
Other Disk Drives: 1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive

Other Peripheals-
Realtek AC'97 Integrated 16-bit Sound Card, 7-channel
Marvell Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet
NVIDIA Integrated 10/100 Ethernet (using right now)
GA-WPKG Wireless 54mbps Wireless Card (Gigabyte Technology)
IEEE 1394B (Latest)
4 USB Intergrated Ports 1.0/and/2.0

I like where the Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.1 AMD Revision 2 is heading with all of the bug fixes and compatibility issues. Instead of paying Apple, we should be paying Zephyroth instead for all of his hard efforts. Yet at the same time, if my migration to Apple works for me, I will definitely hit the green button, and purchase a new Macbook Pro instead. :-) It Feels like PC's (for Windows-based) are going through a renaissance and are rejuvenating, haha.

Don't worry, read the wiki about the 1 minute left installer freeze bug.
Also it's common for Rev.1 to install no bootloader!

It's rather easy to fix the bootloader, it's well documented in this forum,
all you need to know / tell me is whether you used MBR or GUID.

02-01-2008, 03:26 AM
I dont think rev 2 beta installed the bootloader on mine.. MBR - i get blinking cursor after the install
