I have Snow Leopard running on my P5W. I installed it from a leopard partition. The snow leopard install will not repair permissions or update prebinding.

I've read elsewhere that because it was installed from a leopard partition it does not contain the information needed to repair permissions or update prebinding.

No it will not repair permissions or update prebinding in the terminal.

How do you make a bootable Snow Leopard dvd ? I've made a boot132 cd for SL that gets me stared booting the SL dvd but it hangs on loading desmos.kext (or right after). Any ideas ?

You make it like an leopard bootable. But why bother with repair permissions and prebindings? After the install the permissions are correct.

Well, after many tries I got the Snow Leopard 380 dvd to boot. Using a custom boot132 cd. I can get all the way to the point where the install starts. After about 30 seconds of writing to the HD it has a kernel trap and panics.

Disk utility works fine.... as I have used it to repartitioned the drive.

To get the dvd to boot you must make the iso read/write, put diabler.kext and desmos in the extensions folder, put boot (the snow leopard version) and your dst.aml file in the root of the mounted iso. Then burn the new iso.

With out dst.aml on the dvd it would not boot.

Now the question is how to finish the install.

I have booted 10a380 installer restoring 10a380 image to usb HD, installing pc_efi 9 v2 to usb hd, and installing in extensions folder of restored installer (this image has a complet extensions folder) some kexts (ps2, azaliaaudio, disabler, dsmos and aty_init), then booting from usb hd with -f and -v to view messages. Install as usual without problems, then reboot, and boot with an existing leopard installation, install pc_efi and kexts to 10a380 partition, make active and reboot with -f -v.
Then permissions an disk utility works perfectly.
Today I have upgraded to 10a394 directly from software update without problems. All working
and have qe/ci with aty_init injector (I have a 8600m GS 256 mb and I never have success with efi strings and leopard).

System Specs: Aspire 5920G:

C2D T5450, 4 Gb 667 Mhz, Nvidia 8600m GS 256 Mb, ICH8-M, alc 889, and RT2573 usb wifi dongle (3945 and broadcom doesn't work)
