That is a GREAT question Muneernk.

I see that my device id's are already set in the vanilla AppleIntelPIIXATA.
I have tested so many different AppleIntelPIIXATA all panic.

I have tried my 10.5.8 file - panic
I copied my plist ICH data from 10.5.8 to 10.6 - panic
If i remove AppleIntelPIIXATA - waiting for root device.
Netkas' Intel ATA support for Snow Leopard - panic

In order to get the DG31PR motherboard to not panic you must change the bios version.
Install this version
PRG3110H.86A.0047.2008.0227.1745

This will allow you to install and get going. You will also need to use leopards ioatafamily.kext to make it work. good luck..

I did what u said and down graded my bios to the version u posted.
I still had panics, so I went thru the new bio settings to see what changed from the downgrade.

All I changed was the advanced settings/drive configuration and disabled auto mode. THAT WORKED!

So I decided to flash my bios to latest version and only disable the drive auto mode still worked fine.

Thank you for getting me on the right path.

Ill report back when I have it all working.

I found out that using dsmos was the problems for me with drives not looking like drive icons but folder icons so I switched to fakesmc.
Before I switched dsmos for fakesmc diskutil would kp 3/4 way on verify or repair permissions

Now all my drives look like drives & no panics

When u turn off auto mode in the bios it disables 2 of the SATA ports (Disabled IDE mode) this is not acceptable to me since I have 6 drives installed and making the sata run in ide mode turns off the drives above 4

I still have no sound or PS2 KB or Mouse yet.

Retail Snow Leopard installed but still testing.

Guys, I have been trying to install SL on my DG31PR and keep getting panics. First, can one of you post some screen shots of your bios settings so I can match them?

My setup is:
intel e5300
DG31PR Bios version 0065
Geforce 7300GT
Sata segate HD
sata LG DVD burner

method trying to use to install SL is from os x project install guide using USB method.
Using latest version of Chameleon 2.0, and netkas bootloader 10.1.

Thanks

All I changed was the advanced settings/drive configuration and disabled auto mode. THAT WORKED!

It is the 1st item u can change under the drive configuration.

I installed from a working leopard.
Restored dvd to a 10g partition.
Used a program to show hidden files
installed Chameleon
Added Fakesmc to E/E on dvd
added AppleIntelPIIXATA from leopard to Snowloepard IOATAFamily
Added IOATAFamily to S/L/E on DVD
I used a kext util to repair permissions for 10g E/E & S/L/E
Deleted Extenstions.mkext from Extra (if util made one)
Created a 20g Partition, enabled journaling
boot system into Chameleon 2.0
Choose the 10g drive to boot (dvd restored to drive)
Installed to 20g partition
during reboot after install I booted into Leopard
installed Chameleon from leopard to new 20g drive
Installed Fakesmc to 20g E/E
Used a DSDT patcher to patch 20g (I did not need this to boot)
copied patched IOATAFamily from DVD to 20g S/L/E
Used a kext util to repair permissions for 20g

Sound & PS2 not working

For use SATA in Auto Mode, follow this topic on HMBT Forum. This works. Download IOATAFamily.kext fixed.

i installed Snow Leopard (Retail Install DVD) on Intel DG31PR successfully with DellSnow cd from superhai's DellSnow (http://www.superhai.com/boot-test.html) (i used DellSnow.iso v0.5)

updated to 10.6.2 and got sound works now...
for usb to work i've added
<key>USBBusFix</key>
<string>yes</string>
into com.apple.Boot.plist (Library/Preferences/SystemConfigurations)

in case any one have 9400gt 1gb dvi/vga/hdmi i used these step described in tonymacx86 froum, just follow the exact step:

With your 9500 GT, I'd try NVEnabler64.kext. If that doesn't work- here is my workaround for the 9400 GT. You inspired me to lay it all out there- here goes...

ENABLE DUAL DISPLAYS & MIRRORING IN 10.6.2 WITH NVIDIA 9400 GT - 64-BIT
I've tried everything from DSDT to EFI Strings to device id patching to editing NVEnabler, but the only thing that works is to replace your vanilla graphics kexts with 10.6.1 graphics kexts and use BOTH NVEnabler64 and NVEnabler in System/Library/Extensions.

1. Download http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3315703/10.6.1% ... 0Kexts.zip
2. Download NVEnabler and NVEnabler 64 from http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.p ... c=370&st=0
3. Open Kext Helper b7
4. Drag all kexts into Kext Helper b7 (should be 11 in total)
5. Type your password and click EASY INSTALL.
6. Close Kext Helper b7.
7. Open Snow Leopard drive.
8. Drag /System/Library/Extensions folder onto Kext Utility
9. Open Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
10. Highlight Snow Leopard in the left column.
11. Click Repair Permissions.
12. Restart computer.

NOTE: My specific card has DVI/VGA/TV-OUT. There are only 2 channels on these cards though- 1 is DVI and 2 is VGA/TV-OUT. You can't use VGA and TV-OUT at the same time. I'm using a DVI to VGA converter and S-video to my TV.

With a 1 monitor setup, I can enable QE/CI a number of different ways and use the 10.6.2 vanilla kexts, but the only method to get mirroring and TV-OUT (S-video) is this way. If you come up with a better solution let me know.

Good luck- this should work with the 9500 GT- but try just NVEnabler64 first- it may work without all of this stuff !!

My favorite installation for SL on this mobo is http://osx86.sojugarden.com/ .
This is a super clear retail installation that worked. Attached find my DSDT fixed with no errors nor warnings.Extract and put it in the /Extra folder.
In the BIOS, Disable Auto mode on the HD section.
