during the install everything goes well until about 2 minutes left when the dvd has to bless the system and mount the drive and make it bootable. it doesn't make the drive bootable or mount it. whats going on? im confused. I have tried installing with kernel 9.2 and 9.1 and 9.0. This was my setup:

ToH kernel 9.2.0, AC97 audio drivers, nforce 2/3/4/5 drivers, nvinject go, broadcom wireless, forcedeth lan, x11, efi v8 for mbr.

So after the install i just get "_" flashing which really is sucky. i installed with guid and got to the apple screen with the loading circle below it but thats as far as i got.

I think I've found the problem.
The script can write boot0 on the first sectors of the disk only if all partitions in the installation disk are unmounted.
I cannot test as I don't want to lost a dvd just for this little fix but if you want to test I can upload the file to rapidshare so that you will be able to test.

You must edit the ISO using Transmac.
Remove FixGUID.pkg which is located in "/System/Installation/Packages/Bootloader"
And replace with the one I uploaded.

if i have 10.5.2 insalled on my usb (not functioning) is there anyway to put this in there? and try to boot?

zephyroth

I don't use Windows anymore for a long time. I think all you have to do is to open the ISO with this application, do what I told you to do, save and reburn the ISO.

zephyroth
02-20-2008, 03:23 AM
No way. The pkg I uploaded is intended to be used during the installation of Leopard.

braindead803

so how do i get it in there? through usb? could you explain please.

braindead803

how can i edit the iso with transmac it doesn't show any system folders just installation folders.

zephyroth

I don't understand.

You must be in Vista.

Open Transmac.
Open the ISO with this application.
Remove the old FixGUID.pkg.
Replace with the new one.
Save.
Reburn.
Test.

And finally tell me if it works.

If you don't know how to use Transmac ----> Google is your friend !

I think i have a similar problem. I installed 10.5.2 over a 10.4.10 installation using the MBR option. Now i have a problem booting. Using the Vista boot loader I get a "chain booting error." Booting with the DVD, the intallation is not detected.

During installation it mentions to make sure that the partition table is clear. Should I do that by reformating the hard drive, and installing again?

And, thanks for the release Zephyroth.

i got 1 hr left on newsgroups download

hey zephy is there a fix for the mbr portion for the "_" blinking cursor. and the not mounting the drive or blessing the drive correctly?

zephyroth
02-20-2008, 03:52 AM
Same thing than the fix for GUID but without the line with boot0

braindead803
02-20-2008, 04:17 AM
yes its the same thing. is there a fix is it in the wiki or no?

just took out some stuff on the dvd you made zephy. just a simpler install so i don't have to go through all the drivers and stuff. and added the fixguid.pkg so i'll see if it will work.

wow wow wow ... What did you removed ?
If you removed pkg that you don't need I hope that you have edited the installer ...

braindead803

i did. don't worry. it was just the sound pkg's and 3rd party packages, its all good otherwise.

Transmac doesn't write me the file in the image (error writing to mac disk) ... must i extract all of them in a folder (with macdrive for example), replace pkg and reburn again? the dvd will be bootable again? Is it possible to do the trick in mac os tiger? which program do you use Zeph?

Is there a update for FixMBR.pfg ?

This might explain the problem I'm having with the "about a minute" hang at the end of installation.

From windows you can use UltraISO or you can mount the image in Tiger.

I don't think you are going to upload a new .iso on the torrent with the updated GUID, are you? Just kidding. :-)

Is there any particular reason why some people favor GUID over MBR?

Can't you also use MagicISO?

I may try this too if GUID has a far greater benefit. Please explain, thanks.

I will mess around with it, if i get a working copy I can make a PPF patch to fix it.

@eddie11c, great!

By the way off topic, iLife will work on the AMD version, right? Any patching required?

eddie11c
02-20-2008, 07:56 AM
iLife does work, You may need to run Marvin's utility on it. I can't remember if I did or not.

WinLinMac01

Hopefully no patching is required for this one. What about Toast by Roxio, 8.0.3? Please leave your last reply for this one. I don't want to go off-topic. =) Thank you.

Toast requires patching, and QE/CI for your video card.

WinLinMac01
02-20-2008, 08:05 AM
I'm sorry, but since I have never had to use this, but what is QE/CI, and how would I use that? Should I start a new thread for this query? Thanks.

Quartz Extreme/Core Image on your graphics card, in other words Opengl support.

WinLinMac01

Oh wow, I have always used OpenGL as part of my speech instead of QE/CI. LOL I'm pretty sure opengl is already operating on my video card in the Mac/OS environment. :) correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you once again.
