My keyboard layout has been pretty funky ever since 10.5.7 and no one seems to have any solution on the subject. One thing that I found out is 10.5.6 displays my keyboard the proper way but from 10.5.7 up to 10.6 my keyboard layout has 102 keyboard layout. Where the tilde key is these symbols are ±§. I tried a few different ps2controller kext from original sl version to the ones offered on the sticky and they all equal to the same result. Can anybody offer a sugestion on the subject. I am even tempted to try the drivers from 10.5.6 since IOATAFAMILY and AppleIntelPIIXATA drivers worked from 10.5.6. For me. I pretty much have a smooth running Retail Snow Leopard install with the exception of my keyboard and sleep. (I tried the kext, for some reason it wont sleep with power plugged in. I need a USB fix like they had for leopard.

Screenshot attached of keyboard layout.

Any idea why this is happening? Nothing works for me so far, need new ideas.

you could always give this a try (see attatchment) i think i got it from here anyway :D. Put in /Library/Keyboard Layouts and then open International and tick 'UK'

btw i too have an inspiron 1525 but i've been too chicken to put SL on it yet (currently running 10.5.8) so if you fancy posting a howto or any helpful tips it would be appreciated. :)

I found everything I need to get Snow Leopard up and running crash free. A few of my mates are currently testing out Snow Leopard on their Inspirons over the next couple of days. My install was flawless, no problems. One of my friends followed the guide here on a mbr and had issues, I think he will be testing guid install tonight. Me Ive always used guid so I guess thats another issue that may popup for some people. I am also making a kext pack with all necessary and possibly needed kext for Dell Inspiron users. Will let you know when a suitable guide and fix is available for everyone. On a side note, my system is 100% up and running, booting up in 64 without me editing anything. I just need to get sleep working, I am currently experimenting with some kext from 10.5.6/7

By the way, thank you for your reply. Even though I found the solution today, Its nice that someone actually attempted to offer a solution. I wish they had thank you buttons like most forums do. So again thank you and once we can verify we kicked all the bugs for Dell Inspiron 1525 in the ass I will provide a kext pack and tutorial.

minibuu,

I have an Inspiron 1525 too and have been failing at the Snow Leopard upgrade thus far.

So if you get a chance to post the kexts/dsdt.aml/process you used that would amazing!! Even just the files!

Good luck with your keyboard! You might try DailyBlogged (http://www.dailyblogged.com/) for help. Its a blog devoted to OS X on the 1525.

I have the same laptop and I have been running snow for a few weeks no with only one issue, the sound.

I have the correct DSDT.aml file for graphics, but would like to try to edit it for sound as well.

For all that need the kext files let me know and I can upload them, I will be trying to make a post installer that you can run and it will install all the kext files boot loader and DSDT.aml file to the correct locations to make it easy on people.

Uploaded 1525.zip with all kext files and dsdt.aml (working sound file as well)

Let me know how you all make out...

Beta testers needed for a post installer pkg for this laptop. Just PM me and I will send the file to you.

Hi EnCoDeD (http://www.infinitemac.com/member.php?u=11549),

Cheers for the drivers as I also have a dell 1525 & running 10.5.7 at the moment very happily.

If I get a chance I'll try them out later on maybe an external USB.

Looking forward to a walkthrough though :)

Slater, I used my Leopard 10.5.7 install to install SL to a different partition, then added my Kext, boot loader, and dsdt.aml files and I was up and running in 32bit mode. Have to repair permissions and boot with -F and -V the first time. see if that helps ya.

Jaraeez, I will try and make a walkthrough when I have some time, maybe over the weekend..

I am all set, I found all the kext I need (No Sound/SD Card/Sleep: Yet). I did my installation using 10.5.6, and booted up with full keyboard/mouse functions. I decided not to install any sound, sd card, and sleep functions yet as I would prefer the targuna method with my 1525 script which currently wrecks Snow Leopard. Everything else I am just to lazy to do right now. Cheers good luck, tutorial posted on Daily Blogged (http://www.dailyblogged.com/1508/retail-snow-leopard-installation-guide). I am working close with these guys to get systems up and running and provided the most successful combo of kext for us. Hope you guys will take part and help other Dell Inspiron 1525 users alike. Cheers.

Yeah like wise I'm trying both here & 'the dailyblogged' one by Thomas.

Hopefully we'll nail it soon :)

Hi anybody,

for those with 1440 x 900 screens a post-installer with 1440x900 kexts would be great.

Is it possible to use an installer.pkg to make changes/install kexts to
another partition?

Usually 1440x900 dells won´t boot at all the first time, so it would be
great to boot from usb and then habe a installer.pkg to install to internal drive.

Until something like this works, I have to take my internal hdd into a dell 1525 with standard resolution to install special kexts.

Greetings,

Frank

I have a Dell 1525 with 1440x900 screen and patched DSDT.
Booting in 64 bit mode works and and the resolution is correct. In 32 bit mode I get black screen. The only way to solve this is remove all GMAX3100 kexts, which is means there is no acceleration at all. The kexts from my working 10.5.6 are unusable on 10.6.

Has anybody managed to get QE/CI working on 1440x900 screen?

Hi EnCoDed,

I tried ur files and I am getting a kernel panic on the SleepEnabler extension. I am not sure how to use the boot.zip file and I didn't use it. Could tht be a problem?
