This is my assembly of 11.4.0 XNU / Lion Kernel patches.

I started this with the aim to achieve the most optimal function on my AMD FX equipt workstation, even though it also works on many other AMD & legacy-Intel machines with some limitation, as it is based on the patches made for previous versions of the XNU Kernel.

Release Notes:

Owners of non-SSSE3 capable CPUs are currenlty limited to the Legacy mode (i386 Kernel without 64-Bit support enabled). If this concerns you, you have to use -legacy boot flag & Finder.app from DP2. The creation of an emulator could solve this in future time.
Some people (including Bulldozer users) may need to advice the correct clock multiplier to the Kernel as auto-detection fails. Examples: busratio=13 (multiplier 13) or busratio=105 (multiplier 10.5)

How-To fix 32-Bit Apps in 64-Bit mode

As the Kernel features some patch made by AnV that automaticaly turns code signature to valid, I was able to fix 32-Bit Apps to work on 64-Bit enabled AMD machines (Bulldozer).

This requires sysenter traps to be patched in /usr/lib/dyld and /usr/lib/system/libsystem_kernel.dylib

There is a Lion compatible Version of amd_insn_patcher by AnV that works for Lion. Old versions will not work as the sysenter trap has changed in Lion.
Get it from here:
http://osx86.co/f36/legacy-kernel-10-6-8-with-custom-dyld-t7318/post55947.html

Usage: amd_insn_patcher unpatched_file patched_file

Be sure to fix file permissions before you copy over & use "sudo update_dyld_shared_cache" afterwards.

So far all my Apps 32- & 64-Bit are working without issues.

Thanks for the legacy kernel 11.4.0 (Y)

Confirmed! It also works on my AMD + system.kext 10.7.4 (no boot-errors found)

Your kernel can work nearly perfect on my AMD Athlon II X4 620 (Lion 10.7.4).
I am very happy!!! Thank you so much for your hard work.

hello,

this kernel is capable of running in 64 bit?

No, is 32 bit only (Checked with sudo ditto sudo ditto --arch x86_64 /Volumes/Lion\ HD/mach_kernel /Volumes/Lion\ HD/mach_kernel_x64, it didn't gave any output)

64 bit is harder to get it working properly, because of all the dyld/sysenter/syscall stuff.

Thanks R:A:W:X86 :D

PD: With your kernel, is necessary to have the 10.7.3 AppleFileSystemDriver.kext??? Are there the new kernel symbols???

Hey R.A.W.X86

Tried your kernel after installing 10.7.4 combo update and have lost the ability to connect to my wireless network. Was working with the 10.7.3 kernels and 10.7.3 & lower.
I have tried reinstalling 10.7.0 with your 10.7.4 kernel and installation is ok, errors during verbose boot after install but setup ok, unfortunately the wireless card will not connect to my network. It is a failing at the WPA2 password says it has timed out.
Going back to 10.7.3 for now.

Thanks R:A:W:X86, this kernel works for me on my FX-8150, but only v1 from Bronzovka worked for me. It would be great to make bulldozer x64 kernel with on the fly sysenter/syscall patch. Now all x64 bit apps work and x32 don't.

How do you got it working??? I can't activate QE/CI on Lion, if I start with some graphics inyector it loses video signal.

I activated simply with:

GraphicsEnabler = Yes

lion after updated to 1074, also upgraded the nvidia driver version 270.00.00f06.

Works perfectly, I have no problems with video.

My question is regarding the performance!

For the majority of staff says he has no differences start at 32 or 64 bits.

but here is a VERY noticeable difference in performance when you start at 64 bits.:p

What about SMBIOS, if it interferes with the performance, because my iMac is like 2001.:(

do you think you can make a 10.6.8 kernel for us (me) anv kernel doesent sync tsc when booting on your lion kernel it syncs and is very smooth.
and i still love snow and do alot of work on it (Cubase) and are held back by plug ins not compatible with lion, would love to see if you can bring those skills back to snow

I have no problem with the finder. the system oddly enough works without errors, only the performance that falls short ..

I had a Phenom x6 1090T, gave it away to get the FX.
And I do not regret it at all!

in Windows
Benchs .. tests .. numbers only ..

In practice, I felt the difference, greater agility, understand?
With the phenom I felt a certain command wait for the operations, which does not happen anymore with the FX.
while maintaining a temperature great!

update :

I have changed the CPU identification methods with those written by mercurysquad & AnV.

The aim is to make the Kernel work on most AMD and Intel CPU that at least support SSE3 (including Vanilla Kernel compatible).

At the moment this build has to be considered unstable / for testing purposes.

looking for testers

It works on both of my workstations (FX-4100 and Xeon E3)

Anyway I would be glad if a lot of people would do some testing on this.

Particulary I would be interested in having it tested on all kind of non-SSSE3-capable AMD & Intel-Nehalem CPUs

This behavior is absolutely unexpected, unless you are using -legacy bootflag.

The Kernel still enters 64-Bit enabled boot-up by default.
-force64 is not associated with any function and not required on SSSE3-AMD - even less on Vanilla-Intel. ;)

Just to note:
Using this Kernel permanently on a Vanilla capable system is not recommended.
The Kernel source code Apple releases doesn't 100% match the Kernel, they are releasing with their OS.
Beeing compatible is just a feature for stuff like multiplatform Boot-CD solutions, etc.

That said, your kernel is royal! perfs are on the rise and smoother video! Hats off Sir!

There are only 64 bit mode (k 10) will fix the problem of various bug and we will have AMD configuration at the top!

The Phenom / Atlon still remains beautiful and deserve our respect!

update 2012-05-31:

The main part of the code changes that once have been gathered by AnV are now implemented in a working Kernel.

Most likely non-SSSE3 capable AMD systems will still freeze after hard disk initalisation, unless you are using the -legacy bootlag. (altough I could not test this)
We still need to find a fix for this.

atm NOT implemeted functions are:

auto patcher function for mach-o executables
some detection code in the real time clock handler (should not be so important as we are all using decent bootloaders)

In addition to the Kernel diff the Download contains two additional diff-patches that will add those code changes.
Both will compile fine, but cause malfunction during boot up.
I am going to diff those files between xnu-1504 & xnu-1699, maybe it is fixable by some "Snow Leopard reimplementations"...

Some answers - before you ask the corresponding questions:

Most likely an integration of the auto-patcher will not fix 64-Bit boot-up for the non-SSSE3 CPU users. (Actually I am not 100% sure what the origin of the problem is & I do not hold a hardware platforms that allows testing on this.)
Why I am working on this anyway: I hope this will solve a lot of application crashes and other bugs & add some stability to the -legacy mode.
Some people (including Bulldozer users) may need to advice the correct clock multiplier to the Kernel as auto-detection fails. Examples: busratio=13 (multiplier 13) or busratio=105 (multiplier 10.5)

this build still has to be considered an experimental release, made for testing purposes & to allow further development!

R:A:W:X86 first I want to thank you for your great work!!

I tested your first kernel and my fresh 10.7.4 installation works great with flags -v npci=0x2000 -legacy!

But your newest one from today just restarts my pc over and over again, I tried the following flags in many combinations: -force64 -legacy arch=x86_64/i386 -v -f npci=0x2000 nothings helps!

If i can help you anyway tell me ;)

My System:
- Bulldozer 8120
- Asus M5A97
- Geforce 9500GT
- 10.7.4 from Appstore with Myhack and your kernel a clean install without any problem

update 2012-05-31:

If the on-the-fly opcode patching routines can be fixed, they will not affect sysenter crashes on 64-Bit enabled AMD (Bulldozer) systems. Currently it will handle mach-o executables only, no shared librarys and frameworks
Most likely it will also not fix 64-Bit boot-up for the others. (Actually I am not sure what the problem is & I do not hold a hardware platforms that allows testing on this.)
Why I am working on this anyway: I hope this will solve a lot of application crashes and other bugs & add some stability to the -legacy mode.

hello,

I tested your new kernel (raw), big step forward, starting the PC is a little space! I no longer crash application, I FaceTime which is very long to open, save it for QuickTime bug screen,
I have a CPU that bubbles!

Code: raw -legacy GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1-v-f

the rest is in the plist.

thank you for your job!

Maybe some additional shared libraries need to be patched if XCode is installed (untested).

There is an Lion compatible Version of amd_insn_patcher by AnV that works for Lion. Old versions will not work as the sysenter trap has changed in Lion.
Get it from here:
http://osx86.co/f36/legacy-kernel-10-6-8-with-custom-dyld-t7318/post55947.html

Usage: amd_insn_patcher unpatched_file patched_file

Be sure to fix file permissions before you copy over & use "sudo update_dyld_shared_cache" afterwards.

Second download in the first post.

I just haven't removed the first 10.7.4 Kernel I released, cause the patch is much simpler (+ lacks as much support) - it might be used if there are any serious problems with the latest build, but it's no longer recommended...

I´ve got a problem after patching the two dyld files.

I always get the message AuthorizationCreate failed while trying to use appstore or every other app whice needs authentification!
The only thing I am able to use is the terminal.

I also reinstalled lion completely but the error returns as soon as I patch the two files. I also changed the permissions of the two files with chown 0:0 and chmod 755 and used the updatescript.

Any idea?

You have to do the following steps:

-First download the amd_insn_patcher

-Open a terminal and type "sudo su" to without quotes to become root

-Change into your downloaded amd_insn_patcher directory with the terminal
You can do this by typing "cd " (without quotes) and then droping the amd_insn_patcher directory from finder into the terminal and hit enter.

-Type the following commands one line at a time:

cp /usr/lib/dyld ./dyld.orig
cp /usr/lib/system/libsystem_kernel.dylib ./libsystem_kernel.dylib.orig
./amd_insn_patcher dyld.orig dyld.patched
./amd_insn_patcher libsystem_kernel.dylib.orig libsystem_kernel.dylib.patched
chown 0:0 dyld.patched
chown 0:0 libsystem_kernel.dylib.patched
chmod 755 dyld.patched
chmod 755 libsystem_kernel.dylib.patched

Now open 2 more terminal tabs and type sudo su (otherwise your system may freeze in the next step! )
In the first tab type:
mv dyld.patched /usr/lib/dyld

In the second one:
mv libsystem_kernel.dylib.patched /usr/lib/system/libsystem_kernel.dylib

and in the third:
update_dyld_shared_cache

Now you are done!

Someone concernd around here, who has a CCC-Back-up or similiar & could do some testing?

Cause I wonder if launchd would come up during Boot-Up when using the Snow Leopard one...
Be warned that testing this will make the system unbootable (/sbin/launchd from SL will NOT work in Lion!!)!

To know wether it will show up during (non-legacy) boot or not could bring us closer to a 64-Bit solution for the old CPUs...

As long as there is noone, whose able to write an SSSE3 emulation, the only hope for the old CPUs will be to figure out the problematic software & try to patch it.

What about iCloud support?
I always get the message AuthorizationCreate failed while trying to use appstore or every other app whice needs authentification! Authentication in iCloud, Facetime & AppStore has been an issue for a lot Hackintosh users, caused by various reasons.

Regarding iCloud & Facetime I dunno - I am not using these.

why the osx snow-leo lets the legacy-AMD users to run some 64-bits apps without SSSE3 support (by booting it with: -legacy -force64) ?

Actualy I have not been using amd_insn_patcher - I applied the sysenter patch manualy. (5A 89 E1 0F 34 90 has to be replaced with 59 CD FC 51 C3 90)

Can you test wether this is related to the Kernel or patching sysenter traps?

Actualy I have not been using amd_insn_patcher - I applied the sysenter patch manualy. (5A 89 E1 0F 34 90 has to be replaced with 59 CD FC 51 C3 90)
The patcher by AnV does some more patching then only sysenter trap.

Disk Utility has been working.
misterfrista also tried doing that single patch only and reported that the AppStore was working way better altough the install fails sometimes...

I don't have my AMD machine in place, so I cannot do testing atm.

As i remember the problem started right after patching libs. I'll take your libs and check when i am at home.

Sorry I was wrong previously. Now I took 2 those libs and patch them manually using the pattern rawx86 gave. So there are no changes at all. There are same authentication problems as before.
fx-8150

ps i chown and chmod libs and of course did update_dyld_shared_cache
pps rawx - you definitely don't have authentication problem? How did you install mac os x? I just expanded the preinstalled distro, it already had user. May it be the problem?

emm... just don't understand anything... finished writing this post i launched "users and groups" in sysprefs, and i managed to use the lock and password window appeared :\ i swear it didn't work when i started writing the post :D
btw i made another user and now use it, not preinstalled one... now restarted diskutil and it works ok without sudo.

after a while locks don't work again ))))) and disk utility too... %) but it seems it starts working when input any command with sudo in terminal and enter sudo password.. then exit. eg. type sudo su then exit - and all locks work.

in console:

More information : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=279629

How to fix that?

Thanks in advance! :-)

The amd_insn_patcher, must be installed with the kernel?-

"XNU-1699.26.8_v3_rev_b" OR "bronzovkAnVoodoo_0_9_26"??

I tried with "bronzovkAnVoodoo_0_9_26," and actually 32bit apps work now in 64bit mode :D:D:D:D

But my account was limited as I think, because for almost everything that does not have permission says, why is that??

Disk Utility also does not recognize any device:o

I´m sure that a incorrect detected fsb is the reason why your audio lags out.

You have to look that the kernel will detect your fsb correct and i´m sure it will work. ;)

Wastez, I apologize! I have not read your answer.
Where can I learn how to fix FBS?

misterfrista

You can get your frontsidebus with the program cpu-z and add 6 zeros.
for example if you have 200mhz then add fsb=200000000

I think RAW posted this before...

I didn't even got to the installer.
When i am trying to boot with -legacy -v arch=i386 npci=0x3000 busratio=19, i am getting the sbin/launchd failed kernel panic.
When i am trying to boot without the -legacy, i am stuck in the USBF.
What i should do?

Thank you very much for your answer!

I gave busratio=19 because i have overclocked my CPU to 3800MHz.
I put back my CPU to the default clock (3400MHz) and i gave the busratio=17 kernel flag, but still no luck (sbin/launchd failed kernel panic).:( This with the following kernel flags: -legacy -v arch=i386 npci=0x3000 (or npci=0x2000) busratio=17.
When i boot only with -v, i am stucked in the USBF "AppleUSBOHCI::CheckSleepCapability - OHCI Controller will be unloaded across sleep" .
What other thing i must check?

When i say installer i mean the first screen of Mac OS X with the "choose language" etc. [i have made a USB stick with the Mac OS X 10.7.4 (i have restored the basesystem.dmg to the usb, copied the packages folder from the installesd.dmg to the usb, copied the mach kernel to the root of the usb, copied the facesmc and the nullcpupowermanangement kexts to the usb and finally i installed the latest Chameleon with the Chameleon Wizard)].

If you have a retail image, you should use the myhack installer! It creates an installer usbstick from your retail image with fakesmc and other features! No need to create it manually!

My kernel flags for installer: -v -f -legacy busratio=155 npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=Yes

You just have to change the busratio to your needs and maybe GraphicsEnabler=No!

Its also possible that it has to do with my Cpu, i´ve got a bulldozer 8120 with ssse3 support, maybe the installer just works with ssse3 !

I very often use different bootloader versions (chameleon, boothink, cimira) crash unfortunately poor results with only 32-bit system and reboot. I did some research on an AMD boot loader, then I tried the boot loader of cparm + Andy (ARF). Same at the first boot was the most constant problems and 64-bit userland possible.

cpram bootloader is a modular system that rapidly and homogeneously with AMD. With boot flag:-legacy-kernel force64 user cache = no-v-f arch = i386 or-legacy-kernel force64 user cache = no-v-f arch = i386, it works! But be careful when installing. good luck, sorry for my bad English. My favorite language is German.

I'll try later 10.7.4 install without deleting the original finder with cpram bootloader. I'll report later if this works.

I proceeded according to this example (http://www.root86.org/entry.php/22-AMD-Bootloader-(cparm. You have the two zip files unzip down., And then move the folder "modules" to / Extra / then create the folder "i386" to "root" set. Then with the Chameleon Folder Wizard "i386" and looking in the folder "i386" is installed, the help file you need to read carefully

I think that the configuration is meant. I understand the ModuleHelp.txt but I have no idea where to put it.
In your tutorial there is an attachement org.chameleon.boot.plist which doesnt use the flags for the cparm bootloader?! For example there is GraphicsEnabler=Yes which is the normal chameleon flag but the modulehelp.txt says it has to be EnableGFXModule=Yes.

Can I simply modify my chameleon configuration und cparm autodetects the config file?

I´m from germany too, but i think many people dont understand it, if i ask in german!

Greetings

Unfortunately I have no idea with cparm and understanding how to use the "Modules" properly applies. ANV + Cparm maybe give information.
My org.chameleon.boot.plist I have not changed.
I would be glad if someone can give more input to cpram-bootloader.

Yesterday I installed on my other partition, the "Modules" and the *. Diff from this page and I followed the instructions. Now, an error message comes at boot. see error message

http://osx86.co/f36/new-bootloader-for-lion-and-before-made-by-t7178/page2.html

Yesterday I installed cparm bootloader on my other partition, now I get an error message on boot "Memory allocation error Addr: 0xfffff00, size = ...... Line .... This is a non recoverable error system HALTED! ! "..... . Now I must find the cause of the error

In this moment I can only boot with the Install DVD :-(

probably the GUI incorrectly?

The OSX disk utility I've started to repair the partition. It tells me I should format the partition. The OSX Disk Utility is very funny.

Then I started windows 7 and tried to fix the problem with MacDrive. It tells me it can not repair. MacDrive is great shit!

But I can boot with the install dvd lion10.7.4.
I am now also available online.
It works completely normal!

Can´t understand whats the problem with the cparm bootloader because it´s pretty simple.
Some flags changed a little bit but they are all in the ModuleHelp.txt.

A short guide how it works:
You just insert the modules you need. Every module which is inserted is active.
The symbol.dylib has to be used all the time if it is available for your version. (In the newest versions it is embedded)
Of course the bootflags will not work without the needed module.

Just tell me if somebody needs to know something else.

@ erineos
For AMD you have to compile it specially.
You have to enable "#define AMD_SUPPORT" in the cpu.c before compiling it!

If you want, i can upload a version where i´ve already done this, when i´m back from work.

If you want to install 10.7 you can take the kernel from this thread and if it is not working (like on my system) take the old one.
For installing it it would be enough to use the FakeSMC.kext and the NullCPUPowerManagement.kext
As flag you have to set -legacy (for 32 bit, because your CPU is not able to use SSSE3 instructions) and the rest belongs to your system.
For verbose mode use -v
If it´s not working with this few things you can try to enter busratio=xx and fsb=xxx too

here, I have the information, how to install cparm properly.

http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleon/source/tree/1620/branches/cparm/doc/README

What is it?
6 -----------
7
8 Chameleon is combination of various boot loader components. It is based
9 on David Elliott's fake EFI implementation added to Apple's boot-132
10 project. Chameleon is extended with the following key features:
11
12
13 Features
14 --------
15
16 - Device Property Injection via device-properties string in com.apple.Boot.plist
17 - hybrid boot0+boot1h loaders for both MBR and GPT partitioned disks.
18 - automatic FSB detection code even for recent AMD CPUs.
19 - Apple Software RAID support.
20 - stage2 loader (boot) can be placed as a regular file in the boot
21 partition's root folder.
22 - Modules
23
24
25 Installation
26 ============
27
28 Normal Install (non-RAID):
29 --------------------------
30
31 Suppose that your installation is on /dev/disk0s2
32
33 - Install boot0 to the MBR:
34 sudo ./fdisk440 -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0
35
36 - Install boot1h to the partition's bootsector:
37 sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2
38
39 - Install boot to the partition's root directory:
40 sudo cp boot /
41
42 - Install Symbols and modules to the partition's root directory or the partition's booter (if needed):
43 * Symbols.dylib is absolutely needed if you plan to use any other module,
44 * otherwise Symbols.dylib is useless, assume that /Extra is already created (if you need special permissions, use sudo)
45
46 mkdir /Extra/modules
47 cp Symbols.dylib /Extra/modules
48 cp "Any other module wanted".dylib /Extra/modules
49
50 No need to use startupfiletool anymore!
51
52 IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE MODULES: PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL MODULES ARE NOT NECESSARILY NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED, YOU JUST HAVE TO INSTALL WHAT YOU NEED,
53 FOR EXAMPLE:
54 - IF YOU DON'T PLAN TO USE A RAMDISK (PREBOOT.DMG OR POSTBOOT.IMG), YOU WILL SURELY NOT NEED TO INSTALL THE RAMDISKLOADER MODULE,
55 - IF YOU DON'T PLAN TO BOOT FROM AN HIBERNATE IMAGE YOU WILL SURELY NOT NEED TO INSTALL THE HIBERNATEENABLER MODULE,
56 - IF YOUR MACHINE IS NOT A NETBOOK, YOU WILL SURELY NOT NEED TO INSTALL THE NETBOOKINSTALLER MODULE,
57 - IF YOU DON'T NEED TO PATCH THE KERNEL ON THE FLY, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL THE KERNELPATCHER MODULE,
58 - ETC,ETC,ETC
59
60 PLEASE DO NOT USE ACPIPATCHER AND ACPICODEC TOGETHER, THEY DO THE SAME THING BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY, YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE OF THEM (ACPICODEC IS RECOMMENDED), THIS ISSUE WILL BE FIXED WITH THE BUNDLED MODULES
61 PLEASE DO NOT USE SMBIOSGETTERS AND SMBIOSPATCHER TOGETHER, THEY DO THE SAME THING BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY, YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE ONE OF THEM (SMBIOSGETTERS IS RECOMMENDED), THIS ISSUE WILL BE FIXED WITH THE BUNDLED MODULES
62
63 HERE IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON USAGE:
64
65 - ACPICODEC (FOR ACPI FIXES, AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ALREADY PATCHED BIOS)
66 - GRAPGHICENABLER (IF YOU HAVE NOT FIXED THIS BY THE DSDT, THIS MODULE CAN ADD THE EFI STRING FOR YOUR GRAPHIC CARD)
67 - GUI (IF YOU WANT A GUI)
68 - KEYMAPPER (IF YOU WANT TO REMAP YOUR KEYBOARD (AN AZERTY PRESET IS AVAILABLE), SEE MODULEHELP.TXT FOR USAGE)
69 - SMBIOSGETTERS (FOR SMBIOS FIXES, AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ALREADY PATCHED BIOS)
70 - MEMORY (FOR RAM DETECTION, THIS MODULE IS ACTUALLY A PLUGIN FOR SMBIOSGETTERS OR SMBIOSPATCHER, AND IT WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT ONE OF THEM, IT WILL BE MORE CLEAR WITH THE BUNDLED MODULES)
71 - SYMBOLS IS ABSOLUTELY NEEDED IF YOU USE AT LEAST ONE OTHER MODULE
72
73 LAST THING, PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL MODULES ARE ENABLED BY DEFAULT ONCE THEY ARE INSTALLED, THERE IS NO NEED TO ENABLE THEM BY AN OPTION BUT OF COURSE YOU CAN DISABLE A MODULE EVEN IF THE MODULE IS INSTALLED
74
75
76 RAID Install:
77 -------------
78
79 Suppose that your installation is on /dev/disk3, which is either a mirror- or a
80 stripeset consisting of /dev/disk0 and /dev/disk1
81
82 Mac OS X creates a small helper partition at the end of each RAID member disk,
83 namely /dev/disk0s3 and /dev/disk1s3
84
85 - Install boot0 to the MBR of both disks:
86 sudo ./fdisk440 -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0
87 sudo ./fdisk440 -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk1
88
89 - Install boot1h to the bootsector of each boot partition:
90 sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s3
91 sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk1s3
92
93 - Install boot to both helper partition's root directories.
94 diskutil mount disk0s3
95 cp boot /Volumes/Boot\ OSX
96 diskutil unmount disk0s3
97 ␉␉diskutil mount disk1s3␊
98 cp boot /Volumes/Boot\ OSX
99 diskutil unmount disk1s3

@erineos
If the Binary is not installed you have to be in the folder which contains the fdisk440 file!
(Of course you can use full pathes too)

But if it is too complicated for you, you can use Chameleon Wizard:

very important to open the terminal and give diskuti list.
then you see the list.

you have other windows on a hard drive? here you have to take boot0md, you have to read it.

or you have installed windows and osx on a hard drive?

In my case I have a 2 TB HDD with Windows 7 on the other HDD I have only Mac OS X

Then I have to install to the MBR boot0md my Windows HDD. Very important, then activate the terminal:

code:

sudo-s
diskutil list (here you see the Windows and the Mac HDD listed)

LION is in my case 10.7.4 installed on / dev/disk1s2, then I have in the terminal "boot0md" install in the MBR of my Windows HDD disk0.

Register with sudo-s in Terminal

code:

sudo-u-y ./fdisk440-f boot0md / dev/rdisk0

Then I have to "boot1h" on the partition boot sector of the HDD install LION OSX (disk1s2).

sudo dd if = of = boot1h / dev/rdisk1s2
-
-
then you have the "boot" from the folder "i386" (cpram bootloader) installed in the root directory LION OSX.

sudo cp / boot

or by moving the mouse into the root directory

Good afternoon,

I installed the boot file manually (i put it to my root of the USB stick) and the boot0 and the boot0md with the Chameleon Wizard (i didn't manage to install them manually) to my Windows 8 HDD and to my Snow Leopard 10.6.3 HDD. I also made the USB stick from the start with the myHack, with no other kexts.
Now, with the new kernel of this topic, when i put the kernel flags -legacy -f -v, it restarts, when i put -legacy -f -v busratio=19 it also restarts and when i put -legacy -f -v busratio=19 fsb=206, i am getting kernel panic which says:
>>> The real-time clock was not properly initialized on your system!
.
.
.
panic (cpu 0 caller 0x2d384b): "rtclock_init panic" @ /users/mirko/Desktop/add_cpu_support/11_4_0_legacy/...
With the old kernel of this topic, with all kernel flags, it restarts.

however, not allowed to almost nothing, not even to copy files, this happened after applying the patch.:mad:
Disk Utility does not recognize any device

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Do you use cparm bootloader?
If you do try MaxBusRatio=xx instead of busratio

erineos
06-21-2012, 04:38 PM
Yes, i am using cparm bootloader. I installed with the procedure i wrote few posts before (i don't know if i installed correctly).
MaxBusRatio=xx gave me restart.
I have know installed the two frisco2's kexts and another kernel and i am getting the "still waiting for root device". I changed from IDE to AHCI and vise versa, but still the same.

Can you explain?

Since 1073 installed ...

1 - upgraded to 1074.
2 - put the kernel "bronzovkAnVoodoo_0_9_26"
3 - I applied the patch "amd_insn_patcher_src.zip"

So now I'm not even allowed to copy a file. And Disk Utility does not recognize the device any more. It really is very odd.

What did I do wrong? :'(

I have changed it to Disabled but still the same.

here are my BIOS settings for Gigabyte Motherboard GA-990-UD3 FXA

Intelligent Tweaker (MIT) ------> leave everything on default

Standard CMOS Features:

here must be the Lion HDD in the first place, if not then change the SATA cable.
The HDD's Windows on the second position, otherwise error message when you boot ----> AppleUSBOHCI ... still waiting for root device.l

Advanced BIOS Features:
AMD C1E [Disabled]!!! if Enabled then .... wait for root device!
Virtualization [Enabled]
AMD 8 Col & Q. [Auto]

Hard Disk Boot Priority under the LION HDD must be positioned in the first place

Integrated Peripherals

On-chip SATA Controller [Enabled]
On Chip SATA Type [Native IDE]
On-chip SATA 3.0 [Enabled]
F_USB30 Controller [Enabled]
SATA3 Controller [Enabled]
SATA3 Ctrl Mode [AHCI]
ON Board 1394 Function [Disabled] Enabled if it is error message: .... waiting for root device
------> Leave everything on default

then it should work:

flag boot:-legacy -force64 UserKernelCache=No -v -f or -legacy -force64 UserKernelCache=No -v -f arch = i386_x64

Good luck!

then put your DVD drive on the first SATA port and SNOW Leopard HDD in second position

Maybe this is causing all the troubles. How do i repair permitions on the Lion USB stick?

EDIT: I repaired the permitions of the USB with MyHack application but still the same.

I also followed this tutorial exactly: http://osx86.co/f100/how-install-osx-lion-on-pc-t7279/ with the two R:A:W:X86's kernels and the Enoch-rev.1999 bootloader, and both gives me the sbin/launchd kernel panic. When i install the two kexts of the frisco2's tutorial, i am getting the "still waiting for root device". Please help!

In your tutorial (sig) you claim to have 64-Bit enabled on your Phenom II.

But none of your screenshots does prove this statement.

Like I wrote earlier; the -force64 flag will not affect these Kernel in any way.
They will boot EM64T mode enabled by default, unless you are using -legacy.

@all

I am currently working on some bug fixes - permission issues etc.
But there is only very slow progress on this currently - lack of time...

I wonder if someone has tried the Kernel on old-Intel?

Someone around here who still has SSE3 + EM64T capable Netburst (Pentium 4, D, etc) or a Celereon Merom-1024 CPU?

Testing on one of these would be very welcome.
It would also prove wether 64-Bit boot-up problem realy is SSSE3 related or maybe not...

@R:A:W:X86 Please tell me, I tried to install the combo update 10.7.5. Unfortunately it did not work. Can I use your patch file with bronzovka kernel for it?.
or I should wait for a new kernel update?.

R:A:W:X86

10.7.5 is not released yet.
Why do you want to use a dev-preview?

There migtht be depencies for the corresponding Kernel build by some Extensions, i.e. like there has been in version 10.7.4

If you would tell us what the problem is - where the system hangs during boot, or similiar - we might figure out a temporary solution.

If there will be such depencies in the final build, it will take some weeks for Apple to release the source code + us to adapt the patch & rebuild the Kernel...

Hi R:A:W:X86,

So now I installed and could do comboUpdate 10.7.5 with pacifist.
I start the system with boot flag: -legacy -force64 UserKernelCache=No -v -f -x arch=i386_x64.
I can boot normally. I cannot open Finder, safari and other LION software. An error message comes. What think you do R:A:W:X86 ?? the DP2 32-Bit Finder to take? or am I the Binaries patches? Can you modify your patch file on Phenom II X6 1100T? I get occasionally CPU Panic. Do you need any information or data to the patchen Phenom II X6 CPU?

I will this afternoon continue to test and will report.

@Frisco
This bootflags don´t make sense: arch=i386_x64 and -force64
-force64 is not implementedi n this kernel and arch=i386_x64 should be arch=x86_64
arch=x86_64 should not be used with -legacy cause arch=x86_64 is 64 bit Kernelmode and -legacy is 32 bit kernel mode.

The reason why AnV used -force64 with arch=i386 is that he enabled 64 Bit Userland in 32 Bit Kernelmode.

Confirmed that R:A:W:X86's 11.4.0 legacy kernel is still able to work with the latest osx 10.7.5 (build 11G15) (Y)

The only issue I got was related to the AppleSMC
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3940135http://s17.postimage.org/azni6x00f/error_smc.png

and it can be easily fixed by replacing the kext with the old one from 10.7.3

Thanks a lot!!

We have similar motherboards. Mine is 790FX/SB750.
I installed your kexts to my Lion 10.7.4 USB stick, but i am stuck to the sbin/launchd kernel panic. What i must do? Some kernel flags? I am doing something wrong with the installation of the Lion 10.7.4 to the USB stick? Some other kexts [the Sata ports of my motherboard are driven by the SB750. So i made (if i made it right) an AppleATIATA.kext (i added some numbers from a kext for the SB750 SATA i found, to the info.plist of an AppleATIATA.kext i found) and now while it loads the kexts, it says something about the ATI IXP700 SATA, and after this i am getting the kernel panic i told you before. I also checked this kext with the IAtkos L2 i installed, inside the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 not from the DVD or USB ("manually"), in a partition of the same hard drive, and it proceeds (in IDE mode!), it says again something about the ATI IXP700 SATA, untill the "Waiting for DSMOS" where i am stuck. If i will make it (to be sure that this kext is OK with Lion), i will upload this kext]? DSDT? I followed the tutorial i wrote a few posts before. Thanks again!

Unless you have either an Intel or an AMD FX/Bulldozer,
the lion installation DVD/UFD won't be able to boot properly due to the lack of 64-bits kernel support for AMD Athlon & Phenom (cmiiw)

So you have to install it by running the modified OSInstall.mpkg of lion distros (i.e. iATKOS L or BLANGSAK v3) within an existing Snow-Leo
or you can also restore a partition image of a pre-installed lion (retail or distros) using the Disk Utility

hello, R:A:W:X86

actually, I found these strange assertions, the fact that with different flags or x86_64-force64, it only works in 32 bit, but hey.

I tested this kernel on my old server dual Xeon HT 32 bit, it does not start.

@erineos
You don´t have to change something on a kext for sb700 chipset if you are using SATA with AHCI.
The AppleATIATA.kext is for IDE and not for SATA with AHCI.

For SATA the IOAHCIFamily is going to be used.

So delete the changed AppleATIATA.kext!!

If the installation will not work it could be a possibilty to clone a already installed Lion.

@erineos

if you had read my previous reply thoroughly!
then you wouldn't get the same launchd KP no more

instead of copying the OSInstall.mpkg to your Lion UFD (=USB Flash Drive),
you should OPEN & RUN it directly with either Finder or Terminal within your existing pre-installed Snow-Leo 10.6.x

About the sb7xx chipset:

it depends on what setting you choose for your SATA controller

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii240/trix_1520/ide-config.jpg

for both SATA=AHCI & SATA=RAID : you can use the stock kext

for SATA=Standard / Native IDE : it requires an additional modified kext,
i.e. AppleATIATA or AppleVIAATA

Sorry about this m28ew, i was so tired from the continus efforts to make it work.
So you mean that i rather have two options:
1. install iAtkos L from it's OSInstall.mpkg inside my Snow Leo to a partition,
2. Install retail Lion to a HDD of an Intel PC, put the mach kernel of this topic to the root and connect the HDD to my AMD PC?

I have installed iAtkos L1 from its OSInstall.mpkg inside my Snow Leo to another partition, but i am stuck to the "Waiting for DSMOS". What i must do? Thanks a lot everybody once again!

This does not happen, but I can not apply the patch

Shows that the path was not found .. ?!?!

Could anyone help me with this patch?

Place a step-by-step FULL detail for each patch? please:'(

With kernel "bronzovkAnVoodoo_0_9_26"
I'm not allowed to copy files, nor do almost anything.

You can copy NO files?!

There is the authorization bug, when having sysenter traps patched.

But this only affects copying files to places where you don't have write permissions. (and annoyingly any related system operation -.-)
i.e. I can copy files within ~/ without any problems.

The only possible workaround atm is, to work as super user - not recommended though.

status on this:

The problematic process appears to be /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Locum

I have tried to replace it with the one from 10.6.8 and 10.7_DP1 - with both the authorization window appears, but file system access doesn't work afterwards...

This will require some more research. (of course anyone is welcome to contribute to this. :p)

can you explain how?

sysenter traps to be patched in /usr/lib/dyld and /usr/lib/system/libsystem_kernel.dylib

Hey Guys.

Read all 19 pages and I've got 10.7.3 kernel working fine. When I just copy the 10.7.4 kernel and boot up the system, i lose wireless and probably some other stuff.

Can anyone give step by step instructions in how to upgrade the kernel?

I can boot into snow leopard with the lion hd and then just need next steps.

Thanks!

Have not had any time to work on this for some weeks now - job and personal stuff have priority - but here's some small update. :)

PLEASE TEST FOR ANY PERMISSION RELATED BUGS:
copying files, LoginWindow.app etc.

Testing your latest kernel (v0.9.30) with the Lion 10.7.5 DP2 (build 11G22)

Most of basic operations (copying, login, samba, etc) seem to work normally on my AMD P-II x4

No permission issue occurs during the test! (Y)

Little bugreport for new kernel and 10.7.4:

With Kernelflags: -v -f npci=0x2000 arch=x86_64 busratio=155 the system boots up to the point where my ntfs partitions are detected and the gui should show up. At this point nothing happens anymore. No error - nothing.

With Kernelflags: -v -f npci=0x2000 busratio=155 the system starts up fine but after 10 minutes I am unable to start some system programs.

Can´t test authentication for 64bit as I am unable to get it up ;)

Dear users,

I would like to use Xcode 4 on my notebook - AMD E-450 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.65 GHz

First I found some tutorials how to do it but it was using VMware and for Intel processors so probably would not work..
I found this forum but it's quite complicated for me actually how to do it. Is there any link with a guide?

I have already MAC OX 10.7.3 or 10.7.4
I downloaded also kernel on site http://osx86.co/f100/10-7-4-amd-kernel-t7687/ update 2012-05-31

right now I don't know what to do and how to start..
I know I have to install 32bit not 64bit as my processor will not run that.

Should I install my MAC OX from my WIN7 or I have to create bootable pendrive? What to do next and how to implement that kernel? Do I finally need a VMware?

Any help will be highly appreciate.

I am sorry for your problem, but using that boot flag or not should not be any matter.

And while we're on the subject some more time:
Why the ---- are there so many people who do not understand this?!

The original Lion (Vanilla) Kernel is a fat binary made up of an i386 and a x86_64 part.

All patched Kernel consist of the i386 part ONLY.
So far the x86_64 part can be compiled from patched source, but it hasn't worked on all tested machines (instant reboot).

In OS X the i386 Kernel supports using EM64T for applications.

Those CPUs not capable of EM64T have been booting what we are calling "-legacy mode" till Snow Leopard.
(Also capable CPUs could be forced using the -legacy flag.)

Support for those Macs (& Hacks) has been droped in Lion (including -legacy mode in XNU).

In the patched Kernel the "-legacy mode" has been reimplemented, as Lion appears to require the SSSE3 instruction set (avaible on latest AMD only) to work, when applications are launched in 64-Bit adress space.

This is one reason, why I have doubts about running ML on AMD - even Bulldozer.
As the ML Kernel will be x86_64 only. Although not impossible of course... ...theoretically. :p

Testing on that CPU is up to you, it doesn't look like someone has done this yet.
Choice between native or virtualized installation is of course up to you as well. ;)
In case of native installation you should know, that your graphics will remain unsupported / not allow any accerlation etc. this is most likely the main reason, why noone has tried the Llano yet.
The good news is, that in case it will boot at all, you should be able to boot Lion with EM64T enabled, as your APU supports the necessary instruction set. :)
There are some tutorials around that may give you some basic orientation i.e. check that link, two postings up from yours...

first i should say thank you for all your work. i have tried to install 10.7.4 in my AMD machine for more than two months. and i don't know how to compile the x86_64 source to a kernel. does your newest kernel (release in 7-18) need to be complied if i would like to run a 64-bit app. PS: i am a Chinese, my english is poor. but i hope you can understand that.
