Hello guys,

first of all i would like to greet all of you guys and to introduce myself; I come from Nis, Serbia, 33 yrs old. Windows user and Fedora 7 linux user. First time here and to be honest I didn't even know that mac osx could be run on a pc, and I'd really like to give it a try. So if there is anyone knowing nothing about os-x on the pc, that's me ;-)
I found a leopard 10.5.1 torrent which i am still downloading (should be done pretty soon). If there is any advise you guys could give me, a hint or something to pay attention to; or anything a complete newbie might need it will be all GREATLY appreciated.

thanks,
milanca.

http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues

That would have saved me 2 hours if I knew about it before I installed, Read it all the way through, and all the other wiki pages, and you'll save yourself a lot of time!

Besides the few Known Issues, the install is pretty smooth.

milanca, are you sure you're downloading the correct image? Date must be 11-26-2007 (piratebay). Chipset is AMD 790FX / ATI SB600. There's support for SB600 but I don't know about 790FX...

helfire: thanks a bunch. wiki pages are excellent. i was reading it yesterday. guys did hell of a job with all the infos there. excellent!

naquaada: i just checked, thats the right image i am downloading (11-26-'07), so its good 'bout that, at least i picked the right one. Could be there a problem with my chipset ,790fx? Just a couple of days ago i had also gigabyte mobo but with nforce 570 chipset; i replaced it with 790 chipset board. If that one ain't supported is it possible to make it work somehow, some newer drivers etc. ?

Its been almost a month since i started playing with amd leopard and all i can say now is that i am MORE than satisfied :-) I installed it for like 5 times till i completely figured out what to do and how to make it all work flawlessly. System has dual boot(actually triple), vista and fedora on first and mac osx on second hard drive using vista bootloader, darwin with chain0. Mac OSX boots in about 10-15sec., shuts down in 2sec. Everything works just great.

Hardware from my system specs are also working great. Thanks to Zephyroth for including 8800 gfx support(not just for that but for the entire release!). The only thing which wasnt working is RealtekHDA, ALC889a, managed making it work with 2 kexts so everything is covered now.

All the apps working like a charm. I think my machine is running way better than under windows. Installed CS3 suite (had some troubles till i made it work) but now everything is working great. Cant wait to try 10.5.2
