How to Update from 10.6.8 To Lion ?, Please Help !

Hey guys !

I know this has already been asked but I thought I would try anyway ! I got an ASUS Laptop currently Dual-Booting Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 / MacOSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard by method of customized myHack/Chameleon BootLoader !

What I want to know is can I update to MacOSX 10.7 Lion once final version is out, and how ? Is there a guide anywhere ?

Am asking this now so once Lion is out I wouldn't have to deplete my limited internet looking for guides.

Anyway thanks for all your hard work guys !

Peace Out !

This might be a bit problematic. Apple is aiming to deliver Lion as an AppStore update from 10.6.8 only. Since the procedure is rather new, it might be a problem, and believe me you'd be better up with a clean install anyway.

I'm sure some stand-alone installers will crop out very soon ( i myself find it ridiculous not to have a stand-alone installer...very bad move Apple ) but still, it'll take some time. So for now, i guess you have to wait or try the Developer Preview version. There are some pretty decent tutorials in 10.7 section of our forum.

Sorry i can't be more helpful, but since it's not yet available, there's not much to know about. Be sure that once it's out, it'll be covered here :-)

Hi,
the OSX Lion is out ... on July 20th
I can confirm you can upgrade Snow Leopard from 10.6.6-10.6.8 version to 10.7 easily ...

Steps

1) Download OSX Lion 10.7 (11A511 = retail version) find it on the net ....
2) Unpack installESD.dmg -> there are a lot of guides on net
3) Create a bootable USB pen with OSX Lion+Chameleon 2.0 RC5 - 755+ OSinstall.mpkg patched for MBR + some Kexts (fakesmc.kext , NullCPUpowermanager.kext)
4) Boot USB pen and install over SL
5) Start with USB pen and install Chameleon on partition
6) Install Kexts on S/L/E
7) Reboot

Enjoy

Also will QE/CI work ? I am trying to Hack my Server. And by install over SL you mean format the MacOSX partition then install or just select partition n install over ?

My SERVER :

Creative Audigy Champion Series
ATI Radeon 4870x2 2GB

Hi,
Lion Gm is lion retail, so ... No problem ...
Upgrade can be done successfully installing over the mac osx snow leo.
You must use a Chameleon which can read snow leo and lion ( from 2.0-RC5-r752 and higher).
The kexts are hardware specific, so i indicate the minimum ones ...
Look my other post
Qe/ci depends on video card (your Ati radeon 4870 is supported)
Put GraphicsEnabler=Yes on com.apple.boot.plist

The answer is -> NO you don't need to format HD/create a partition if you want to keep Data, Apps, and documents. Just Install over ...

Anyway if you prefere to make a fresh install , you need to format HD ... Look at my post "How to install OSX Lion on PC"
