I guess it's because of the 64-bit.. AMD kernel runs in a hybrid mode on SL..

My Hardware
CPU: Intel Celeron G530
Memory: 4.00 GB DDR3 1333Mhz
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
OS: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 - Vanilla kernel
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3

And Lion kernel is pure 64bit, right?

Nope, the kernel has both i386 and x86_64 parts, but you can't run it without -force64 (If you are booting with arch=i386) because application binaries are only x86_64

System
  • MoBo: MSI K9N2GM-FD, Chipset GeForce 8200 (MCP78)
  • CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ @3,02 Ghz
  • RAM: Kingston 2GB DDR2 800Mhz + Corsair 2GB DDR2 800Mhz @747Mhz
  • VGA: EVGA 9800GT SSC
  • HDD: 300GB WD SATAII
  • Optical Drive: Sony SATA 24X
  • OS: Vanilla Mac OS X Server 10.6.0 + Nawcom ModCD, upgraded to 10.6.8 and Windows 7 x64.
Everything works, except sleep, so system isn't Energy Star compilant .

Yep, That's it. Finder, etc do not start without a 64-bit kernel.

But still. I mean, we have Atom kernel for months now. Or is Atom easier because its Intel?

A lot... because Atom can be done with a simple patch.
The same can not be said for AMD.
I tried many methods (and kernels) but I haven't got it to work with AMD yet.

Would bulldozer work with a similar patch? seeing as it has all the same instruction sets implemented as the intel chips.

bonsoir à tous !!

good evening everyone.

I am a newcomer on your site that is not without interest.
I have a platform (Asus M5A97pro x4/6 960T) that works in very
well in SL 10.6.8 and would like to see it run on Lion 10.7.

I have another question, I saw FX 4100 and FX 8150 Operating
OS X 10.6 !?

http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/535633

Would you have an idea of the method with my FX 4100, I tried all
kind of flag to no avail. (busratio=18 -v -x arch=i386 -force64 debuge=0x100 .......)

Thank you.
