I have the Asus A8N-SLI Premium. Have you tested networking with forcedeth? It crashes at large files with a kernel panic. The forcedeth-v driver from Leo4All works better. Have you installed AC-97 Audio or ALC850? I now have SPDIF out in my output list, with AC-97 I hadn't. But I've not tested it ;-)
I have an Opteron 185 CPU which is nearly the same like the FX-60 (2x,2.6 Ghz, 2x 1MB L2-Cache). I've it running at 2.86 Ghz on Zephyroth 10.5.1, on Leo4all V3 it can be pushed to 3,03 GHz. Xbench Score 177,93 without disk test @ 3,03 GHz. The ATA-133 IDE disks had a great performance on OS X, the actual ATA-100 or SATA HD's are much slower in random access. A better nForce HD driver would be handy. 2 Opteron systems: OSx86 10.5.8, Andy's 9.8.0 kernel, Asus A8N-SLI Premium, Opteron 185 o'clocked @ 2 x 2,95 GHz (2nd system 2.6 GHz), ATI Radeon HD2600XT 256MB Dual-Monitor 2x HP L2035, 4 GB RAM, Griffin FireWave as main audio device, Marvell + nForce LAN, Asus U3S6 USB3/SATA6 card, 5,5 TB harddisk, Firewire 800 card, Apple Remote + eHome IR receiver, 2x Wacom serial graphics tablet, Canon Pixma iP4700, Logitech Internet Navigator wireless keyboard/mouse combination. My Audio stuff: M-Audio Transit USB (default audio), M-Audio ProFire 610, M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge (34 channels) using Creamware A16 ADAT converter • MIDI: M-Audio Midiman 4x MIDI interface • Behringer Audio Mixers: Xenyx 1002, Xenyx 1002FX, Xenyx 1202FX, Eurorack UB1002FX, Eurorack MX1804FX, Eurorack MX262A • FX devices: Lexicon MPX100 DSP, Behringer DSP-1000 Virtualizer, Behringer MiniFEX 800 DSP, Behringer Multicom Pro MDX4400 compressor • RETRO: MSSIAH midi/sequencer/synthesizer cardridge for the C64 (Dual-SID), Steinberg M.S.I. I have disabled both onboard LAN connections and using D-Link USB WiFi stick. Just to minimise hardware recognition for mac, and as it is i require only one internet receiver. I mostly toyed with different kernels 9.2.0 , 9.2.0 sleep and 9.2.2 modbin. (9.2.0 is the best, sleep one is OK, modbin 9.2.2 crashes sometimes) My CPU was also overclocked @ 2.8 GHz, and i was not having any issues, but currently for testing purpose i am running on stock speeds. Will see how system reacts for installation of different softwares. Regarding SATA performance. Its perfect. The file transfer, installation is as par equivalent to other OS's speeds. I gotta check Burning capability of my Asus SATA DVD RW. will be doing that soon. Currently its running smooth...only problem i got .., just 2 times, in Firefox browser. The PC just hanged. No idea why. |

The audio is a little weird for the system "beep", sounds more like static. But, itunes plays back fine. |

npanxx, your system alerts are sounding like static because you have a SSE2 processor.
I had this exact problem until I upgraded to SSE3. It's best to pick up a cheap SSE3 processor off ebay You may find quicktime crashes when playing divx too. @ npanxx:
If you want to upgrade your board try an Athlon 64 4000+ Socket 939 - it's about 31 Euro in Germany. Xbench score 85-88, it's a great and cheap cpu. 2 Opteron systems: OSx86 10.5.8, Andy's 9.8.0 kernel, Asus A8N-SLI Premium, Opteron 185 o'clocked @ 2 x 2,95 GHz (2nd system 2.6 GHz), ATI Radeon HD2600XT 256MB Dual-Monitor 2x HP L2035, 4 GB RAM, Griffin FireWave as main audio device, Marvell + nForce LAN, Asus U3S6 USB3/SATA6 card, 5,5 TB harddisk, Firewire 800 card, Apple Remote + eHome IR receiver, 2x Wacom serial graphics tablet, Canon Pixma iP4700, Logitech Internet Navigator wireless keyboard/mouse combination.
