Hi PROTOCOLX, Thank you for creating a wonderful OSx86 distro. I am still downloading this one, but I am using your old iGenius 10.5.6 - HFS Plus - non Journaled (for write access in Linux).

My HDD is a external USB 2.0 Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB 5400 RPM one which is GPT partitioned (Pure GPT - not Hybrid). I use it for storing backups of my personal files as well as for booting Mac (iGenius one presently).

I setup the iGenius Mac as follows :-

1) Boot a mac from 16 GB Kingston pendrive.

2) Partitioned my external USB HDD as GPT (I have absolutely no problem with GPT) with a 35 GB HFS+ (non-Journaled - to have r/w access in Linux).

3) Use Copycatx to restore iGenius to that partition.

4) Manually setup Chameleon using terminal following the instructions in the readme file.

5) Reboot with the USB HDD as first boot device in the BIOS.

I have a few questions :-

1) Does installing this iPortable to the same partition involve any other step apart from the ones mentioned?

2) What is DSDT? Why is it important for Snow Leopard and why is it not important for booting Leopard (I do not have a DSDT.aml file - did not understand what is that in the first place)?

3) Do I need to manually install Chameleon in my USB HDD or will the Empire EFI (or the myhack tools) do that job?

4) Do I need to modify my EFI System Partition (FAT32 filesystem - not HFS+)? I use it to boot Linux with GRUB2 as a x64 UEFI Binary (not a Apple FAT EFI binary) and my Windows using bootmgfw.efi (Windows Boot Manager x64 EFI Binary)

5) Can I select a AMD compatible kernel while booting iPortable Snow? (mine is Intel - my friend's laptop is AMD)

6) You mention that this is a copycatx "MBR" image. Does that mean this image cannot boot from GPT? Is it the image of the full disk (including the MBR boot code and partition table) or just the image of the partition/volume (like the iGenius one)?

7) Will this iPortable support a IDE HDD (SATA mode - Legacy IDE in my Dell Phoenix BIOS)? iGenius boots with AHCI SATA mode only.

8) In my iGenius installation, everytime I boot I get "Firewire UUID or GUID error" wherein the GUID is shown as 000000000000000000000 (just zeros). How to correct this? My booting is slow because of this error.

9) My iGenius restarts always irrespective of whether I selecy Restart or Shutdown option? How can I make it shutdown properly?

10) Do you know of any kext(s) for ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 (note I need kext for the "Mobility" Card, not the desktop one).

By the way VoodooHDA is great for my sound needs (IDT codec), and Voodoo Battery detects my Battery properly. Both ApplePS2Controller and VoodooPS2 kexts work for my Laptop's Keyboard and Trackpad (Alps). Many Thanks to Voodoo team for Chameleon, the kexts and many other programs that I may not know of. I am new to Mac OS but I do know quite a bit about Windows and Linux.

For those keen on setting up Windows to boot in UEFI-GPT mode follow the instructions in this link - http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lof...ex.php/t186440 .

My laptop specs :-

Dell India Studio 1537, Intel Core2Duo P8400 (supports Intel Virtualization extensions), 4 GB DDR2 RAM, 320 GB 5400 RPM internal HDD, ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 (256 MB RAM), Intel 5100 Wifi Card, Widcomm Bluetooth, Optiarc DVD writer

Windows 7 x86_64 Professional RTM in UEFI-GPT mode (my UEFI is tianocore.sourceforge.net EDK DUET UEFI64 option - checkout tiano-efi-duet-folder-sk.4shared.com for my builds), and Fedora Linux 12 x86_64 with GRUB2 x64 UEFI Binary as my bootloader.

Check this link http://grub.enbug.org/XNUSupport for loading XNU kernel using GRUB2.

Finally I want to know how to backup my installed and modified iGenius to a Clonezilla image. The iGenius is installed in a 30 GB HFS+ partition. I would like to backup this up to a compressed image and restore it to my 16 GB Kingston UFD and then boot from this UFD to restore "iPortable Snow" to the same 30 GB Partition once its downloaded. Is is possible using Clonezilla? My main doubt is that here the source partition is 30 GB and the destination is 15 GB. (The used space in the 30 GB volume presently is only 10.5 GB so my guess is that there should be no problem in cloning it to a 15 GB partition). But in CopycatX and Clonezilla websites it is specifically mentioned that the destination partition size should be equal or greater than the source partition. What about the destination partition being smaller than the source but being bigger than the used space in the source partition, will it work?
