Update to 10.6.5 impossible. Error evaluating javascrit

I have been searching this issue for the past 3 days. I cannot update to 10.6.5.
I installed snow leopard 10.6.3 from the retail DVD, and it works flawlessy, even the graphics card now, (haven't tested OpenGL in games but cinebench in games is way smoother than before) I just can't update.

When I try to, it says 'cannot be installed on this disk because an error occurred while evaluating the JavaScript of the package' or whatever. I have reinstalled 3 times, and still no go. I have tried doing it in safe mode, in a different user account, I have tried redownloadibg the update from the mothership site, and same problem,

Anyone else ever get this problem?

The error you got means that the dependencies checking script has an error. Check the package checksum to ensure it is not corrupted. If the checksum is correct, then try installing the update on your current drive from another snow leopard install.

The checksum for your 10.6.5 combo update should be:

SHA-=add336a1af1c3914887d2217fbbc98b18e6fb57c

i managed to fix it by reinstalling the OS. for some reason, if i installed it on my 750GB hard drive, id get that script error. if i installed on my 500GB drive, id have no errors. leads me to believe my new 750GB western digital is dying, so i put windows on it. seems fitting enough. (and of course WD only offers a 30 day warranty...grr).
thanks for that though, at least i know what causes that error now and how to fix it. thanks again.
