Using disk utility you can restore it to another drive or partition. It won't be bootable on it's own as the bootloader is held in the mbr. After restoring it, you can download and install the chameleon bootloader to the drive.

FYI, it's also possible to boot a drive using the install dvd's bootloader. Just start from the dvd and don't press anything when prompted and it will load the os x partition.

Hey Voyn1x(or anyone else)
where can i find the mach_kernel file so that i can make a copy of it before i upgrade to 10.5.6. i double click on the osx partition and i get 4 folders(applications, users, system and library). where do i go from there?

the kernel file resides in the root directory of the osx partition, but is hidden.
best way to back this up (and the kexts) is to use osx86tool

EDIT: is it that hard to use google? http://www.google.de/search?q=osx86tool
