Chameleon is a bootloader, and as such, you type in commands to influence how system boots.

-v is verbose mode, where the screen displays what is going on instead of Apple logo.

so, when Chameleon shows, press down. or down again (depends if you have countdown bar or not) and a small list shows up, I think verbose is the first one.

Or just type "-v", you should see it in the bottom left of the screen. press enter. Report what happens
