PCI cards not listed with "About this Mac"?
Probably an easy question, but too many short words for the search here...
Got my hack working pretty well now (G31M-ES2L)... just checking out the little things now... Under 'About this Mac', should my PCI cards (my 8400gs, and I did have a NIC as well) show up in the PCI cards list? the 8400 gs does show up in the graphics section and is listed as PCI. I used iPC 10.5.6 as my install base, choosing no kexts from that, and then only a few from osx86 tools for sata, usb, audio, adding my own nvinject, and a realtek for the onboard lan (to enable bonjour). Just wondering if I need another kext for proper reporting. The cards are being used and work.. just wondering if they are supposed to be listed or not, and if so, how to enable that. There is a kext included in iPC that is supposed to make PCI Cards show up correctly in About this Mac. But I don't remember what it's called.
And they don't have to be listed to work correctly no. Ok, just checking to see that they were supposed to be listed (I could see a small argument for saying it would only list cards not listed under graphics/networking).
I think the kext in question is "IOPCIFamily patched.kext".. I will give that one a shot (and report back) thanks! GA-G31M-ES2L.v1, E6300 @ 2.8GHz, nvidia GT240 (or 9500GT), 10.6.6, fakeSMC rev454 |

8400gs
Hey, I hate to beat a dead horse with a stick, but you said that you had this card working in this thread, right? I was wondering if you could share with me how you did it. I too have a Nvidia 8400gs PCI, mine is 512mb, but that shouldn't matter, I don't think....
I have been trying tirelessly to get this card to work, the best I can get is full resolution with massive artifacts and no QE/CI... In one of your posts on another site, you said you use a version of Nvinject with a modified NVCAP... I can get everything working on my computer using the iPC 10.5.6 installer... Everything except this card that is. I was just wondering if you used a particular version of Nvinject or if you'd made your own... Like I said, I've tried EVERYTHING, including Modifying ATI drivers and flashing the card's BIOS... Nothing seems to work... Any help would be appreciated. I just hope I'm not 7 months too late! Thanks again, Scott |

I converted my hackintosh to just be a linux HTPC and picked up a refurb MacBook (the laptop hackintosh world seems a whole new level of hurt to get any performance).. anyway, I attempted to document the successes I had before I left the scene... I think the details are at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...wtopic=139203#
I believe I attempted to leave copies of my kexts around too (on the forums), but the broken search there makes it too hard to find. I also had found a great deal on a 9500 and had sold he 8400 anyway. Best of luck! GA-G31M-ES2L.v1, E6300 @ 2.8GHz, nvidia GT240 (or 9500GT), 10.6.6, fakeSMC rev454 |

Es PCI nicht PCI-E
My main concern is that my card is PCI and not PCI-E...
I have tried everything, and I seem to get the usual errors that everyone else gets... Black Screen, Blue Screen, Kernel Panic... etc... I'm starting to worry that I haven't run into a solution... With a certain combination, I get a "higher" resolution... not the desired 1600x900@60... but something like 1340x780 or... w/e. QE/CI is still not supported in this combination. It seems to be that injectors give me a kernel panic (Voodoo 9.5.0) and EFI strings give me a Black Screen or Blue Screen. Recently I installed the 10.5.2 Opengl.framework folder over my previous one, and I no longer get tearing in VESA mode... Scrolling websites and the like works fine now... The current combination I have of kexts allows me to boot into VESA mode, but I notice that the NVDANV50HAL.kext is still loaded... I don't know, behind every door seems to be a brick wall... Thanks for the reply though! |
