I will start off with my computer specs. Its a upgraded acer Travelmate 2450 notebook.

CPU: Intel Core Duo T2450
RAM: 1.5gb DDR2
Chipset/video card: ATI Xpress 200m
Hard Drive: Hitachi 60GB 5400rpm Ultra-ATA/100
DVD Drive: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K16RS ATA Device
External DVD Drive: LG External Super Multi DVD Rewriter
Chipset: ATI RS400/RC400/RC410
Southbridge: ATI SB400

I got a kext for my chipset so that the dvd will boot and I can install Leopard. I used Kalyway 10.5.2. The instalation stalls at 27 min remaining so i let it run overnight and it finished (I think). When i boot up however the apple screen shows and the little wheel spins but then a no smaking sign comes up (exept without the cigaret) and it frezes. How do i get leopard to boot up? Please help. Also when formating the hd i used Mac OS Extended and i left all the options of default when installing. Thanks!!!

Also when adding the kext, all i did was use TransMac and located the extensions folder (system/library/Extensions) and pasted it in there. Is this the way to do it?

Sounds to me like it can't find your HD. Try booting with -v and see if you get the "still waiting for root device" error.

yes did you remake the extensions.mkext file after you add your kext to the extensions folder of the iso

here is what you do
if you are in leopard (have to be in leopard or tiger)
move the whole kalway folder to the desktop
in the folder there should be the iso file, the folder where you add the kext with the command file
put your kext file that you want to add into the folder with the command file
open up terminal type sudo -s (put in your password)
drop the .command file into terminal and it does it all for you
than burn the iso with disk utility

Alternatively you can try and do it manually in Windows with either Transmac or MacDrive. Place the kext in /System/Library/Extensions/ then delete Extensions.mkext in System/Library/

Reboot into OS X using the -v -f flags.

Try this before messing with the ISO, especially since you already have OS X installed

Neither -v or -f worked so i made some changes and am reinstalling. The install process stalled at 27 min remaning like before and now it has stalled again at about a min remaning. It has been at this for about an hour. Is this normal?? Also i formated the hd as Mac OS Extended (Case-sensative)(journaled) is this the right one to choose??
