10.6.4 on AMD- Possible?

Hi all! Im a newbie so please give me a little time if i dont get my questions correct first time around. Thank you in advance!!

Firstly, im running SL 10.6.
I have tried several SL on my AMD system and only two were successful in booting. One being my current SL 10.6 and iatkos v7. Both required basic installations to work and a second install visit to add in any additional settings or the install failed? strange but hey-ho.

Anyway, my question is, i have searched high and low but cannot find anyone/any guides to get 10.6.4 working on an AMD?
I have tried a few "intel & AMD" discs but without success. They boot but fail install before i reach my custom settings for install stage.

As i have a working 10.6, is it possible to upgrade? i have tried without success from reading a few posts but nobody seems to confirm a working install barring vm type installs.

Please can anyone point me in the direction of a known working guide?
Also, im taking it that zephyroth is not supportive of SL as unmentioned?

Massive thanks in advance to all!! Sorry im new to forum and to SL on PC

Download 10.6.4 Combo Update from Apple Website.
Install it, but don't reboot your PC yet.
Download kernel from this thread : http://osx86.net/f36/10-4-0-xnu-kern...tel-amd-t6268/ and install it using it's installer. Now reboot and if it boots fine go to here and download "MacOSXUpd.10.6.4.cpuid.txt" and "Maxxuss_Patcher_GUI.zip". Then drag the cpuid file over Maxxuss_Patcher_GUI app and wait until it finishes. Then reboot again. You may also need to patch some CPUIDs that weren't included in the cpuid file eg. those in "Spotlight.prefpane".
That's all

Gone Linux.

Well, the update has installed and it booted fine! im now showing 10.6.4 in "about this mac"!!! Massive thanks!!

Just a few quickies - the txt file will not work with the amd patcher? i have installed patcher and opened it, then when i try to drop and drag txt file, it does nothing? Also, when i opened the link you gave me and clicked on the txt file, a text file opened. Yes okay, silly statement! i then attempted to right click and save as .txt file when it offered.

Also, my graphics are now very very dark?

Big thanks so far!

#1. Just use the Maxxuss Patcher GUI instead of AMD Patcher, it's the easiest way and everything should be OK. To check if CPUIDs were patched successfully, simply launch iTunes and check if there are no blank windows (when I launched it without applying the cpuid patch, the preferences and "get info" windows were empty and iTunes crashed when I was trying to log on into the store).
#2. As for the dark graphics, go to "System Preferences" -> "Display" -> "Color" and check different color profiles, maybe the one you were using was just updated.
#3. As for now, you can install all the updated in Software Update, even those which require reboot. At least I have and it seems OK Just be careful if eg. 10.6.5 update comes out, because it may install new kernel so you may be unable to boot.

Gone Linux.

Sorry, i meant the maxxuss patcher. I downloaded and opened the interface which was fine. I then tried several ways to get the txt file accross but nothing happened. it just said file could not be found or something like that. will have to double check what it said if relevant.

This worked perfect!!! It was just a case of vga profile being updated. It had however saved my older one two!! Thanks.

Noted and thank you so much! you solved all my issues so far!! Massively appreciated.

I have more issues like my ide dvd not recognised but i read elsewhere it cannot be used. also the sleep issue but maybe ill read up and post in correct areas.

Speak soon.
