Ethernet cable unplugged

Hello all,

I'm running into an issue where although SL can see my ethernet card I am unable to get an internet connection. When I go into the Network Preferences I get a "Ethernet cable unplugged" error. When I boot into Win 7 on the same machine I have internet connection. I'm a little confused.

I used this guide
and this hardware:
GA-G31M-ES2L rev.2
Realtek 8169 based card.

kexts loaded in Extras/Extensions
fakesmc
framebufferDisable
LegacyALC883
LegacyAppleRTC_32bit_only
NullCPUPowerManagement
Openhalt restart
PlatformUUID
SleepEnabler

Does the RealtekR1000SL.kext also need to in the E/E file? I do see it in the System/Library/Extensions folder.

Thanks
Steve

your networking isn't installed correctly then.

i had the same problem, and i had to install the Ethernet card differently then i did previously. since i don't have your setup, not sure where to point you. just find a different way to install it.

Hmmm. By different what do you mean? When I first did the install I had internet. I downloaded and upgraded to 10.6.2 before I installed sleepenabler. Once I did that I had internet for one short session before rebooting then nothing.

I've used kextutility as well as the installer for the RTL1000.kext

Not too sure where to go from here.

Hmmm... I'm wondering if won't just be easier to get the Apple USB to ethernet adapter. Checking online on MS's site, it's compatible with Win 7 as well. That would free up a pci slot as well.

But dammit that's just too easy!

assuming at least one other person has gotten it working, buying that would be throwing away your money

Hi.

Replace the AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext from the Original IONetworkingFamily.kext with the AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext from the OSX86 site.

Location : /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext

And then
Put your modified IONetworkingFamily.kext into /S/L/E.
Run "Kext Utility".
Reboot.

I am using a 10a432-64bit mode. ( ASUS P5K[ICH9] + Chameleon2 RC3 r658 )

Thanks!! I will try that today. For future reference the Apple USB to ethernet modem works quite well. Transfer speeds aren't the best but manageable. Bootcamp drivers off SL work quite well for 64bit Windows 7 as well.
