Need some files from retail SL install
Hi,
some time ago, I finally managed to install Snow Leopard on my PC. I can't install retail version, because Empire EFI doesn't work for me, so I'm using Haazaard's distro. It works fine, but they've changed some files (added ugly distro's logo) and I would like to revert them to original ones So, could anyone post those files from retail Snow Leo install : Code:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Installer.app/Contents/Resources/defaultBackground.tiff /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOSX.tif /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOSXServer.tif /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/AboutThisMac.nib/ (whole directory if there are more than 1 file) AMD Phenom II x4 810 2.6GHz | Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P | Gainward GeForce 9800GT 1GB | 6 GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM | 1TB HDD | 19'' Widescreen Samsung LCD Display Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 (Everything works except Safe Sleep) | Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Last edited by Erigz; 06-29-2010 at 02:56 PM. |

I have a small problem with the 'About This Mac' menu.
When I click at 'About This Mac' no information is shown but a restart occurs. I have installed 'SL_10.6.6i_by_Hazard' and upgraded it to 10.6.8 ... that worked OK I have installed MaxOSX as a virtual machine in Virtualbox 4.1.8 (Linux host). When I look at the files in: /System/Library/CoreServices/Installer.app/Contents/Resources/defaultBackground.tiff /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOSX.tif /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOSXServer.tif /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/AboutThisMac.nib/ they are the Hazard logo with the gas-mask. What could be the problem ... have Googled but no success ... also posted the problem to some forums ... but no answers so far. Appreciate all help |

I think you need this file.
Put whole folder in /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ Moved to INTEL i5-2500K / GA-Z77-DS3H / HD5770 OS X 10.7.4 all working! Win 7 ultimate running on Parallel |

I copied the whole downloaded folder to /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/
When I click at Apple/About this mac the screen goes blank and after some seconds my desktop returns ... but I don't get any popup window from About This Mac. After the folder copy I changed the owner of AboutThisMac folder. sudo chown -R root:wheel AboutThisMac.nib Could that be the problem ? |

I am sorry for the mis info, it's been a while.
Paste the whole folder AboutThis Mac.nib in "/System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources". Drag the folder "AboutThisMac.nib" (in the attachment) into the window that pops up, then log out, and back in. You should have the regular About This Mac window back. Moved to INTEL i5-2500K / GA-Z77-DS3H / HD5770 OS X 10.7.4 all working! Win 7 ultimate running on Parallel |

I did following:
1. Pasted AboutThisMac.nib folder into "/System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources". 2. Deleted AboutThisMac.nib folder in "/System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources//English.lproj" 3. Logout/Login Got the same thing ... when I click at Apple/About this mac the screen goes blank and after some seconds my desktop returns ... but I don't get any popup window from About This Mac. What have I missed ? |
