What mode is your sata set to? If its ide it uses a kext based on applenforceata.kext to detect your hdd, which means you need a patched ioatafamily.kext to speed up boot times. So I'd recommend setting your sata mode to AHCI in the bios, then you don't even need the patched ioatafamily. Download the attachment and place into /Extra/Extensions or /Extra/KextStore rebuild kext caches with kext utility or kext wizard, reboot and don't forget to set sata mode to AHCI (if needed)
