thanks in advance.

Idk that issue yet, I can wake up after sleep, but many stuff stop working, but the main stuff works, and I can't restart after sleep D: . i have to shut down and start again.
Sleep still doesn't work quite properly .

I'm on vanilla OS X , you should try vanilla too .

Thank you very much!
I successfully updated my bios, ad get a step closer to osx. When I try with the 10.6.3 13" macbook pro dvd i can initialise the installation but get the error:
"Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer"
even when I boot it in -x mode
Then i tried whith 10.6 SL10A432 DVD and man_of_the_oak files (but not the system/library... directory, this is not for the installation, isn't it??) And get a smooth boot until the grey screen appears and nothing else happens, the HD looks working and the spinning wheel appears.

please, any k50in owner can share its winning combination of OSX dvd, boot options and ktext files?

thaks in advance

man_of_the_oak 08-05-2010 09:35 AM

@up

All the files I gave you are needed. You need to put those from system/library/extensions to Extra/extensions during install. Also, use iBoot CD or Empire EFI, as to be honest - Asus K50IN boot CD almost always doesn't work since it's outdated. I will create mine soon, you can wait or try with bootloaders from above/create custom usb install with ALL my kexts.

yuanlukito 08-06-2010 09:48 AM

Couldn't boot into 32 bit mode

Hi @man_of_the_oak, i've tried your kexts. It works flawlessly. Sadly, my hackintosh (k40in) always boot in 64 bit. I am currently using Snow Leopard 10.6.3.

I've tried arch=i386 option, it always fail / hang. Last log : Sound Assertion error : AppleHDA.

i'm badly needed to boot into 32 bit mode. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks. :)

man_of_the_oak 08-06-2010 11:08 AM

I work in 64-bit and in general I don't see any reason to use 32-bit o.O Why do you need it?

Some of my kexts are 64-bit only I think that it may cause this problem.

uwannacookie 08-09-2010 05:06 AM

Yeah , i needed 32-bit mode for my TMN internet pen and i cannot use it , :\

EDIT: Sent an e-mail to Atheros info to give us the kext of AR9825 fixed for Snow Leopard , gonna wait for response.

I would rather take a miniPCI-e one, it's very easy to replace wifi in this asus and works perfect :)

PS If you decide to install update - put this disabler kext into system/library/extensions

http://files.netkas.org/10.6.2/NullC...ement.kext.zip

After first reboot with installed update, you can delete it :)

Hello man!

I have ASUS K50IN (Intel C2D T8100) with 2GB RAM. And your config is 4Gb. Shall I make any changes if using your files (DSDT etc..)??

Thank you!

My chipset is NVIDIA MCP79

man_of_the_oak 08-10-2010 10:42 AM

Then you can use my files with no doubt :) Just remember to edit SMBIOS and put there your CPU info.

uwannacookie 08-10-2010 01:19 PM

Got answer from my email sent to Atheros Company:

Thank you for your interest in products containing Atheros Communications' technology.

However, we do not offer the cards or drivers that you're inquiring about. Atheros typically sells chips to module manufacturers and therefore would not be able to help you with this task. For issues regarding driver support or customer service related to drivers, please contact the manufacturer of the product or system you purchased. We suggest you refer to the manufacturer’s website, as they typically offer online technical support pages where software drivers, updates, and other related information can be obtained.

Thank you for your understanding.
Atheros Communications, Inc.

So... No support from Atheros, they only make chipsets, not drivers.

Wow...

Really.. Does it support that much Mac OS ?

man_of_the_oak 08-16-2010 11:10 PM

According to Рус from applelife.ru - with 10.6.5 update our AR9285 works natively...

Anyway - kext attached. Tell me if it works, since I have Dell 1500 and I am not going to replace it just for testing purposes.

flip360 08-17-2010 12:27 PM

i think that the Dell wifi cards which contain Broadcom chips work way better than the Atheros ones but if it works than it will be a complete solution for the people who have not replaced their wifi cards :)

man_of_the_oak 08-17-2010 01:07 PM

It does work :-) I will stay with my Dell 1500 though, it has faster local transfer :P

ad_47incv 08-17-2010 01:43 PM

flip360 08-25-2010 05:13 PM

Everyone should check out the new Chameleon RC5 mode with mem detection enabled and automatic P-States & C-States generation for native power managment. Some of the items in the SMBIOS.plist are not neccesarry anymore :) Tested and running great.

Cheers

nice to hear that buddy, so there is some question for u guys, here u go :
before update to 10.6.4, should i update to 10.6.3 first?? or just update to 10.6.4 directly? (downloading 10.6.4 combo update is in progress)
which kext should i use before reboot to 10.6.4?? (download links are appreciated)

sorry my bad english, thanks in advance.
:D

man_of_the_oak 08-27-2010 09:29 AM

This one (you need to use it before restarting after every big update like 10.6.x):

http://osx86.sojugarden.com/files/Ex...ement.kext.zip

When it boots successfully (and it will if you use only my kexts) you can delete it~

tachyon 08-27-2010 03:53 PM

I hate Me :( Somebody

I'm Korean. and My english is not good.
so I ask every reader's approval.

I succeeded installing 10.6.0 ver.10a432
I'm Universary freshman. and I need iPhoneSDK4.0
so I click software update
after reboot, The screen is blinking with displaying blue, pupple and white.

I try another way to install MacOSX
i get 10.6.3 retail and try to install.
The result is same

Somebody help me!
I must install iPhoneSDK. Virtual machine is too slow...

I use K50IN-SX298V.
It is.....
Intel P8800
G102m
4GB RAM(2+2)
AR9285 WLAN
RTL8168 LAN
No Bluetooth.

I never update BIOS,

man_of_the_oak 08-27-2010 05:04 PM

Update bios - this is the first you need to do.

Then - don't try with k50in boot cd since (from what I could see trying to install OSX on a few K50IN laptops) it usually doesn't work. Download iBoot from here: (remember to choose NVIDIA version) http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/

It will boot your retail DVD, at least I hope so, if it doesn't - try to add some flags like: -v, -f etc.

When you install the system - download combo update to 10.6.2, then 10.6.4 - none of them using update tool of Snow Leopard (you can find it on google). Before you start installing it all, run Chameleon installer package and when all updates are installed (it's very important to run it before using them because sometimes it would not run later) use it to put bootloader on your system partition. http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic....&t=208&start=0 (better use RC4)
When all your updates are installed and Chameleon is here, use files I attached to this post, it should work flawlessly. (but before first restart put also http://osx86.sojugarden.com/files/Ex...ement.kext.zip to s/l/e. After the first successful restart you can delete it.

PS Use Kext Utility to rebuild permissions before restarting.

Files: http://uploading.com/files/3a8m43c7/...%2BBackup.zip/

PS2: for working wifi kext - look a few posts up~

Thank you.
I will try it. but....
Null CPU Power Management kext link, the last link, is broken...
Check it plz....

man_of_the_oak 08-27-2010 07:07 PM

It is not, simply use "copy link address" on the link and paste it in browser's address field.

tachyon 08-28-2010 06:24 AM

thank you oak

Your advice is nice

But I have a problem....:(
Maybe it is happened by my misunderstanding.

I try...

1. Boot iBoot and install 10a432. It is 10.6
2. After install, install Chameleon
3. Install 10.6.2 combo update from apple by DMG file.(I didn't click reboot.)
4. Copy /Extra and /S/L/E from your backup link file to HDD.
5. Copy NullCPU......file, too.
6. Click reboot at combo update pkg.

After every steps, I can see chameleon
And I try boot Mac HDD. But it froze...

So I add a flag : -v.
Then display just a sentence. It is...

Loaded HFS+ file : [System/Library/CoreService/SystemVersion.plist] 479 bytes from 42527c0.

Do I mistake? What should I do?

man_of_the_oak 08-28-2010 11:26 AM

Did you use kext utility before reboot? What is more - you should also install 10.6.4 combo update before restarting and putting my extra etc.

1. Boot iBoot and install 10a432. It is 10.6
2. After install, install Chameleon
3. Install 10.6.2 combo update from apple by DMG file.(I didn't click reboot.) - here you should also install 10.6.4 + don't reboot
4. Copy /Extra and /S/L/E from your backup link file to HDD.
5. Copy NullCPU......file, too.
6. Use Kext utility: http://www.kexts.com/view/129-kext_u...update%29.html
7. Click reboot at combo update pkg.

Um.... I have finished at step 5.
I downloaded Kext Utility, and run. but Kext Utility is frozen.
No window opened.
Just Kext Utility's icon was jumping for about 30 seconds, and stop jumping.

I'm not click reboot at combo update pkg, yet.

maybe I must be waiting with notebook cannot click power off and reboot. for 24hour. :)

man_of_the_oak 08-28-2010 03:59 PM

Forgot to mention that it's a good idea to run Kext Utility before but don't type the password before you finish with everything else...

Anyway - try to run it again.

Um....Sadly, It happen kernel painc.

Error messege is "No HPETs available...CPUs configureed incorrectly "
by AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.

It always happen at any flag : -v, -f, -x, -s etc.

flip360 08-28-2010 06:05 PM

did you try hpetdevice.kext?

man_of_the_oak 08-28-2010 08:43 PM

When did the kernel panic happen? While using Kext Utility?

tachyon 08-28-2010 08:47 PM

Ah..... Boot Successfully.

I didn't know that, 'HPETDevice.kext'. I didn't have that kext.
Thank you flip...

but it didn't work Keyboard.
I don't know the touchpad is working.
because i use a USB mouse at that time. I didn't check.

and qe/ci didn't work. so Resolution is 1024x786 not 1366x768.
I think MacOS is recognizing Wrong NVIDIA Graphic.

filp, man of the oak.
thank you. but help me one more time.
maybe it is the last. :)

man_of_the_oak 08-28-2010 09:32 PM

You must haven't put all my files...

Just to be sure everything will work, here you can download my WHOLE S/L/E directory. Simply delete your old one and put mine, then replace extra (whole extra folder) one more time, delete hpetdevice (since it's not needed, trust me) and nullcpu(...) [but you shouldn't have these after using my s/l/e and new extra from the bottom of this post]. Then use kext utility and restart. Everything but wifi should work now (look a few posts up to get working kext for this).

PS About Nvidia - if you use my extra folder - then you have a correct info in dsdt file, so that it must work.

http://rapidshare.com/files/415716784/Extensions.zip (this is Extensions folder from System/Library)

http://rapidshare.com/files/415716856/Extra.zip

yuanlukito 08-29-2010 10:31 AM

Hi @man_of_the_oak : i've successfully activated my wifi card (Atheros 9285). Thanks anyway. :)

Now my HackbookPro works 100% ;)

man_of_the_oak 08-29-2010 11:22 AM

I'm glad it works :)

flip360 08-29-2010 11:43 AM

"This kext creates HPET device in ioreg, so you dont need(if you need) to edit DSDT to get it.
Originaly I created this kext for myself, because if HPET was enabled in DSDT then my pci wifi device was loosing interrupt and wasnt working, so this kext is workaround for it.
You can use it if you want to get HPET device in ioreg and are lazy to edit DSDT" netkas.org

as i stated earlier the guys from ASUS put or removed something in the newer BIOS (221, 222), i dont have a DSDT patch therefore i use this kext. ;)

cheers

tachyon 08-30-2010 05:15 PM

Um.... I Still have problem.

I have test. As a result, The problem was happened by dsdt.aml

Since I use man of the oak's kext, I have used audiohpetsmbus dsdt.aml.
because it can use 32bit and 64bit both.
this dsdt.aml downloaded some post at here.
it is everything OK but PS2 Keyboard, touchpad and graphic didn't work.

So I use audiovideohpetsmbus dsdt.aml
it is everything OK. but very slowly(just Mouse pointer is fast).

I think I need Costumized dsdt.aml for me.
So I surfed in google. Install DSDTse and DSDT patcher.
but both didn't work.

P.S
When I was 10.6, just installed, MacOS recongnize Unknown Nvidia Graphic and VRAM 512MB
But Now, it is recongnize just Nvidia Graphic and VRAM 32MB.

man_of_the_oak 08-30-2010 06:45 PM

You should use my dsdt which was in extra...

DSDT patcher won't do it since it makes a very cosmetic changes to the dsdt, you need to do it manually. If you have MCP79 then my dsdt is for you but you cannot change anything in files I gave you and you need to boot in 64-bit.

According your PS - as I told you before - my dsdt files has gpu part, so that it will be recognised correctly.

From what I see you are having too much "fun" with various files you find in this thread but I told you that you need only those I gave you.
