Need Help - Fix some drivers.
2 Attachment(s)
Ok guys, so i was a complete noob couple of weeks ago, but after some reading on theese forums i am understanding all of it.
!!See my specs here!! DVD IDE Drive: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 ATA Anyways, so far i've tried iDeneb 1.5, SnowOSX 3.5, and iPC 10.5.6 and seriously .. none of them work! they all gives me the "Still waiting for root device" error. In BIOS i've tried: Turn on AHCI Mode (No changes) ACPI Enabled (No changes) S.M.A.R.T enable (No Changes) Disable 1394 controller - or some shit. (Since it gave me firewire error.) That fixed it. I've played so much with it. It won't pass the error! i've also tried the rd=disk"x" method, and it's disk2. but it just gives me the error again. Tried to remove my usb external hdd. no changes. please guys! help me! :( (i've attached two images from my iPC failures. You can see the errors there.) |
sahandii,
When installing try using the safe mode option -x and see if that makes a difference. Also being on an AMD rig myself, the only success I have had with a Snow Leopard install was using the Hazard Snow Leopard Client Server ISO. So give that a shot. In the install options I chose the following: Legacy Kernel Chameleon RC4 PCIfix USBfix After installing boot with the following: -x "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32" which will help you get past a boot loop that many of us have run into. |
thanks man, i'm crrently downloading the Client server version.
I will try to see if it works. ;) |
No problem, I will do my best to help you out :)

Also disable your onboard ethernet (may be the cause for the waiting for error...), and sound if you can in the bios. If not make sure your network cable is unplugged from your ethernet port.

allright guys, it gave me the same error. tried to start with -x (didn't work.)
disabled sound & network in BIOS. And tried to unplug cable. (didn't work.) It's really pissing me off. :( - Maybe i have to re-plug all the cables in my pc? - UPDATE: Seriously, i don't have any ideas anymore. I've tried to take most of the cables out and putted them back on. Didn't work. Changed the Primary Master to Slave with my cable. Didn't work. Changed it back. Didn't work. CMOS resetted the whole motherboard. Didn't work. Man, this is killing me! :( So many other people are running Mac's on their P5K. Why not me? :( |
Is your ATI HD3600 built into your mainboard, or is it a seperate PCI card?
I had issues with my built in HD4200 not being supported and had to purchase a EVGA Nvidia Geforce 9500GT 1GB Check out this link, lists all the cards that are known to work successfully http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/in...0.6.2#NVIDIA_2 |
It's not built-in.
I actually have a spare Nvidia 8600 GT, I could try that. ^^_ |
its not the video card.. its the fact that it doesnt have drivers for your chipset. Like I have an Intel ICH7 so I select Intel ICHx at install. Are you getting this error at startup after the install or before you can even install?
|
Before man, i can't even get to the install process. /;'

|
Yes I believe it would.
Here is a wiki on injecting texts into an iso. http://osx86.wikidot.com/en:how-to-s#toc4 |
Alright guys!
- So basically, i figured out what the error was. It was my IDE Drive. Because every time the "Still waiting .." error came, my drive stopped running. Now, i don't have any SATA DVD or USB DVD drive. So i took another IDE drive which i had, and tried that. An Optiarc drive. And it worked. Only with iPC though! So i wrote "-v -x -f rd=disk0s2" and BAM, it accessed the installation. I formatted and partitioned my HDD to a GUID partition. Customized my installation, and installed. Now, at the boot up i wrote "cpus=1 rd=disk0s2 -v -x -f" it got through some stuff, and started. BUT it only gave me a blue screen. Now before this, it came all up with some graphic codes and display and so on .. So i thought, "It's probably my ATI graphic card." So i went trough the install again, so i could install some ATI drivers, i wrote the "cpus=1 rd=disk0s2 -v -x -f" again, BUT! It didn't redirect me to the installation! It got me to the brand new installed iPc 10.5.6!! And it works right now! I'm so happy! thank you for helping me! -UPDATE- Alright guys some updates here: I have to boot up with the CD every time. And with the command: "rd=disk0s2 -x" Sound doesn't work. Tried the VoodooHDA.kext and all kinds of different shit. Network works perfectly The quartz thingy for the graphics is on "Not Supported." I have found the DeviceID & VendorID though, and found out that the 3650 series had the same ID's. Tried to install it, didn't make any changes. (I have the 3600 series.) Printer works. Uses all four cores. USB doesn't work. :( - Even though i tried the USB Mass fix, and the USB Mount fix. Not together, since it would mess up if you did. I've done multiple installs, with different kernel extensions. Hmm .. If anyone could help me with the sound, i would be very glad. |
When you did the install, did you choose to install a bootloader like Chameleon?
If you didn't, go to kexts.com, go to downloads, bootloaders, and download the RC4 package, install it while within Leopard, reboot. Keep in mind that if you have windows on the same drive, it will damage the boot record for windows so you will need to do a repair with your windows disk, if not, no worries. I believe this will eliminate your need for the rd=disk0s2 as the bootloader will automatically point to the partition with Leopard. As for sound, i got mine working with the AppleAzalia driver/kext, sound works, but I can't control the volume at the moment. I have Realtek HD Audio, check and see who makes your audio card, and check on kexts.com and see if its available for you. One more thing, if you had disabled your Audio in your bios before the Leopard install, go back in and enable it, this might be why its not working. |
I've tried to put OS X on a P5N-E and also get the Still waiting for root device. I gave up because in the bios there was no way to change from IDE to ACHI which I fiqured was the problem...

These P5N-E owners have got it to work, check this thread out.
