HP Mini 1030NR

Its a tiny net book with a lot of power. You can also upgrade it to a 2GB RAMN stick.. YouTube it.

andyi89 12-24-2009 08:23 PM

youtubed it and its pretty sweet looking but looking for more of a laptop as its going to be my main computer :( kinda hoping to get a dual boot of windows 7/ mac os x

andyi89 12-24-2009 10:48 PM

would a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7450 be compatable with one of the distro's? ive looked on osx86 and cant see it :( i think a t6600 would work

Imkantus 12-25-2009 12:56 AM

The used CPU is only minor important - any Intel Core should be fine.

More important is A) to get one with a compatible chipset - Intel highly recommended! - do not get VIA, SiS or stuff like that & B) to get one with a compatible graphics-chip/-card - GMA950, GMAX1300 or NVidia. Any ATI Mobility Radeon or newer Intel GMA cards are not fully supported.

andyi89 12-25-2009 12:30 PM

So last night i made a desicion and bought this spec laptop :D now to start lookin for some kexts am pretty sure i have an idea on what i need bu any ideas ould b rally apreciated :P

ive actually been doing some reading round and found out the graphics card seems to be unsupported. would this mean i wouldnt be abe to see the desktop or just play videos and play games? also does anybody know of any ways around this? thankyou!

andyi89 12-28-2009 12:44 PM

okay so ive done a bit of searching around and ive come up with this. now unfortunatly i dont actually have my new laptop yet its estimated delivery date is the 14th of janurary! >> but that gives me time to do abit of reasearch

so far as an idea without actually trying ive come u with this (which is just a guess)

Bootloader: Chameleon v2

chipset: not really sure maybe intel ICHx SATA Drivers?

Other Drivers: Just Sata Patch, NTFS3G

kernel: i think is vanilla

Sound: Audio HP_DV5_IDT_V2

wireless: AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext with Dev ID inserted

Usb: usb patched

Power: Voodoo Battery - Sleep Enabler - FakeSMC

Trackpad + keypad: VoodooPS2 Controller with VoodooPS2Trackpad also placed into /S/L/E
(dont really understand that yet)

Graphics: ive heard is not supported but have seen two ways of perhaps doing it
first being: Graphics Enabler and Dev ID inserted into ATIRadeonX2000.kext and ATI4500Controller.kext
second being: i've forgotten but ill have a search round see if i cant find it :P

so far thats what ive got as an idea any input would be greatly apreciated thanks :D
oh and if this is now in the wrong forum please let me know and ill move it i dont really know were to put it :P thanks!

I had told you, that there is no proper support for any Mobility HD by OS X....
You can use this Framebuffer driver, I made good experiences with it. As a Framebuffer driver does, it will allow you to change screen resolution, but will not give you any kind of accerlation - so no way for HD videos, coverflow on iTunes, high-toned games and stuff like that.

andyi89 01-02-2010 01:48 AM

I did listen to your advice but couldn’t find a laptop meeting the graphics requirements as well as getting all the other components supported (with the little amount of knowledge i had about components supported and the osx86 wiki) this seemed like a pretty reasonable choice at the time got to admit kind of a rushed decision because it was a boxing day deal and was dirt cheap.

thank you ever so much for the driver that’s fantastic i was getting quite worried about drivers for graphics that'll be a big help

as for the laptop i still haven’t got it! ive finally got a date given to me which is Tuesday hopefully should get to play with it then

whiles ive got u another thing that is worrying me is dsdt.aml patching that seems to me like a massive pain ive been speaking on another forum to somebody about it and it just seems quite involved so if u had any input on that topic that would be really appreciated. Thanks

Currently there is allmost nothing that will force you to mess with editing any acpi table by hand - maybe the need to patch it using fassls utility to solve something, but that's aint a big deal - for all those edits there is allmost also a kext or string based solution or alternative out there. :)

andyi89 01-06-2010 08:20 PM

Finally got my laptop and after a few failed attempts finally seem to be getting somewhere i've got leopard running on my laptop

i tried a few distro's some of which wouldn't even boot in the end i ended up using kalyway 10.5.2

which unfortunatly is a bit out of date but is working brilliantly

i managed to get it running (heres a screen shot of my desktop)

http://i45.tinypic.com/kehiqq.png

with fully working
  • sound
  • video (thanks very much to your driver had to edit the list file and turn hardware cursor off as it made cursor all sqeuwif turned into a box of mess basicly but that sorted that out)
    • wireless
    • card reader
    • battery meter and power management
    • all effects seem to be working

    only problems i have are

    Usb sticks aren't being recognized

sometimes when booting it just hangs on the apple not to sure about this been reading adding rd=disk(partition) to the boot.plist sorts this out am yet to try that.

also i've noticed there are kexts to enable two touch on the touch pad dont really know how that will effect my setup.

also going to look into updating the chameleon loader to the newer version

but more importantly id like to upgrade to 10.5.8 and am not really sure how to go about it. I am going to start reading around now see what i can find. But any input on that would be really really appreciated.

Thanks ever so much for your input so far its been fantastic in helping me.

Probably a system.kext problem. Open the Terminal and enter "uname -a" it will return you current Kernel. Then got to /System/Library/Extensions peform right-click on system.kext and select Informatiosn - compare the system.kext version with the one of your Kernel.

I recommend you to do a Back-Up. Then upgrade your bootloader to Chameleonv 2 RC1 or similiar as you planned. Replace dsmos.kext or AppleDecrypt.kext (depending on what you are using) with netkas latest fakesmc release and install Disabler.kext if you don't have it yet. Next get the DSDT Patcher GUI from pcwiz with NewHPET option to your Leopard HD (might not be required but doesn't hurt ;)).
Optionally do a Back-Up of your current Kernel and Extensions folder - this is usually not needed on Vanilla-able machnies, but I prefer to do it the safe way. ;)
On Terminal:
sudo -s
cp /mach_kernel /bak_kernel
cp -R /System/Library/Extensions /Extensions_bak

Now give it a shot and apply the 10.5.8 Combo Update - it migth need a second attempt to boot into your system again.
Hopefully everything will be fine. :)

thanks! im trying the update now and u was completely right about the versions being out my kernel is 9.2.0 and my system.kext is 9.2.2!

going to look for a version of vanilla kernel and system.kext now am unsure of what version to use tho just going to search hackintosh search

thanks again for everything its been a massive help!

Update!:

so i rushed into the updating thing and used the offical apple combo update and its killed my os its just boots constantly on -v it stops on firewire error

going to download ideneb combo update now :)

andyi89 01-13-2010 02:18 AM

okay ive installed kalyway again without kexts and then updated it straight away after update it boots up into just a greyish screen with a few squgily boxes i can move with the mouse

i can boot into safemode and it works fine

so i tryed installin the hd radeon kext i have and now it just boots up into a blank bright white screen any ideas? what that could be :(?

Imkantus 01-13-2010 12:31 PM

When you are in Safemode, go to /System/Library/Extensions and delete ATIRadeonX2000.kext - (needless to say, that you create a Backup first;)).
Then I think, you should be able to boot normal again. :)

What!! you are actually a genius!!

I spent all night last night searching around trying all sorts of different things!!

and u just reply the simplest solution and wink at me and it works perfect everytime! :') haha! :p

so its woking perfect atm i havent installed any sound kexts or infact many kexts yet but its updated and running lovely having the trouble of it not booting sometimes again am going to check the system.kext and kernel now

thanks again!!

Update: checked the kernel and system.kext

ive got

Darwin andrew-irelands-studio-1555.local 9.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.8.0: Wed Jul 15 16:55:01 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.15.4~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

and system kext version 9.8.0

but i still have this boot issue ive got the bootloader u recomended aswell and still

it comes up the white screen with apple and the circular loading bit doesn't appear

could be whiles its journaling i think going to try repair permissions

on -v it just hangs on firewire i think ill check again

update again!:

do i need to delete disabler.kext now update is complete? will that bring back powermanagement or do i have to reinstall that?

VoodooHDA should work for most Audio Codecs. :)

Can you maybe post a complete screen?
Ofcourse you could try disabling Firewire at the BIOS settings if it's possible (might be called something like 1394), or to remove the Firewire Kernel-Extension as well...

Powermangament using the OS X driver (AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.kext) does not work correctly on Hackintosh systems, even worse - it will cause a Kernel Panic on any update and break the system - so it's a common method to disable it.
If you had pwrmngmnt on your configuration before the update, you might have been using the 9.2.0 speedstep Kernel by netkas? Alltough it is possible to keep using the old Kernel, it's an obsolete solution.
It is possible to make native speedstep to work by modifiyng the DSDT table, but if you are looking for an easier solution you shoudl check out VoodooPower made my superhai. :)

That's always the most important - to be satisfied with what you have. :D

You might like this it will fix the "Unknown" to your correct CPU modell on 10.5.x - just for the eye-candy but... ;)

As I wrote getting a complete Screenshot of the point where it hangs & propably even your dmesg output on a succefull boot (for comparisson) might be usefull to find the reason for this problem.

Hey!

I'm so glad I've found this thread,It took me a long time to find someone saying they could install Mac OSX on a system almost identical to mine :)

Although you've got 1gb extra ram and I'm on 7 pro..

I've just installed iatkos v7 and I can't boot into it,I have installed mac osx before on a netbook and never had this issue. What happens is the i select mac using Chameleon 2 and then the shiny apple boot logo just hangs.I have got a few issues with the boot permissions and I'm just about to repair them,But could you think of any issues I might be having?

And if not how would I view to boot screen to check for errors?

Thanks

EDIT:
I reinstalled selecting drivers and other things that matches my system..

And got this error:
http://www.infinitemac.com/attachmen...1&d=1264887368

I installed the following:
iAKTOS v7 main system
Chameleon v2 bootloader
X86 patches :Extra directory
Decrypters:Apple Decrypt
Kernel: Voodoo 9.7.0
ACPI: x 86 ACPI
Disabler
Remove Tymce
Driver:
VGA:Ati HD
System: Intel Speedstep
Sound:Voodoo HDA Driver
PS/2 mouse/keyboard: Voodoo PS/2 driver with trackpad plugin
Laptop Battery
Nework:My broadcom Lan and Wi-fi drivers

Hope someone can help!

andyi89 02-02-2010 09:13 PM

i replyed to this yesterday and it hasnt posted! thats the second time ive done this lol!

am not to sure on your problem tbh bit of a newbie myslef

have you tryed pressing f8 at start and typing -x -v -f

that will put it in a sort of safe mode see if it boots then

if u want to see what it is causing the kernel panic then just type -v and the thing before the panic should be the problem

ive tryed reinstalling mine today and have messed up somewere with a driver rushed it

i lost my perfect orginal :( messed my hardd drive up so ive got to try get it going on mine again so ill let you know how i do it

oh and ive not used iatkos i use kalyway 10.5.2 then update with ideneb combo update deffinatly works best out of all the distros ive used

andyi89 02-03-2010 06:31 PM

got it installed on my computer again working fine 10.5.8 got sound and some video obviously graphics card is not supported

heres a guide to help you install it Dell Stuido 1555 installation guide

if that doesnt help you ill be able to give a step by step guide of how i do it :)

Hey Andy cheers for the help,
I'm trying to get native resolution!(If i get this done i'll be delighted! But i'm having a few issues figuring it out...)
So far the brightness adjustment works,Wireless works mouse/keyboard work and also sounds and headphones seem to work!
And can be adjusted through keyboard commands..

I had to delete the same kext you did due to the graphic booting issues but everything else seems to be the same.

Can you let me know which kext you used to native resolution and also how to install correctly?Would the osx 86 tools be ok?

Thanks again!

andyi89 02-04-2010 10:58 PM

hey so all sounds pretty good atm then what version are you running is it 10.5.6 or have u updated to 10.5.8?

and yea ofcourse i can okay so first u need a program called kext helper b7

u may already have it installed but if not google is your friend ;)

as for the kext its here

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1727104/Rade...D10.5.kext.zip

just download that unpack it drag the kext into kext helper, type password, install and reset after that should be widescreen :D

just like to mention i found that thanks to imkantus just so i don't take any credit :P so thank him for that not me :D!

hope all goes well if so screen shot press alt shift and number 3 ;) upload to tiny pic and post it for us all to see :D

andyi89 02-04-2010 11:06 PM

oh a quick question for you completely mac unrelated uknow your studio 1555 when u log into windows does it take awhile on the welcome screen and when loadin desktop?

Richard.T 02-05-2010 12:00 AM

Woo now have native resolution but the cursor is showing as a weird pixelated box..?

Thanks for that anyway,Native resolution looks great!

Also,Boot up in windows is fine,I'm running 7 professional though..

Do right click, to show kext contents and edit the Info.plist file it should contain a Bolean named "enableHWCursor" try to change it (either true or false) and reinstall the kext - maybe it'll fix your issue. :)

Woah!Thanks!Worked straight away :)

I'm glad I'm studying computer science or I wouldn't of known what a boolean was, And it just so happens to be that the college I study at is where George Boole Studied and discovered booleans :),It seems with this frame buffer performance has dropped abit...But the native resolution is great :)

yay!

haha sorry i forgot to mention about the hardware cursor

ive just got my hands on iatkosv7 to have a try with but it doesnt boot for me:(!

i still have a problem were sometimes it just doesnt boot lol! on my current install

its such a shame about the graphics not working tho isnt it :(

i dont really get why people say macs not worth having without quartz extreme

cos i mean we dont have it and besides the obvious diffrences cos we dont have graphics drivers

i dont get the diffrence lol! it all works fine even videos!

Ah that's ok,Atleast imkantus was here to help :)

Yeah the graphics not working is abit of a let down but There isn't much things I'd be using the graphics for,Not a big gamer to be honest,Just doing college work and photography really!

All in All i'm very happy with the OS now,Did you get the battery meter working?

Also using iaktos 7 it didn't boot for me first time,I had to reinstall with very few of the drivers,I did find a tutorial on insanely mac I think(May of mean another site!) if I find it I'll post it here.

andyi89 02-18-2010 10:20 PM

yea i used the voodoo battery meter tbh with you tho it isnt very clever if it wasnt plugged in the battery died in not time i used iatkos v7 in the end and used there intel speedstep drivers which give you power options like high performance and better battery life

having a problem with my install it keeps panicing when booting something to do with appleacpi something im not sure wether or not to delete it and go without it will boot eventually but dang its annoying

andyi89 02-24-2010 08:45 PM

i had snow leopard on my computer booting! i used i portable to install the image to my harddrive unfortunatly it seems to have corrupted and just resarts on boot ive tryed disk warrior and still nothing seems to change :( nevermind tho ay!

przyszedl 10-23-2011 11:33 AM

Hi andyi89,
I also have Studio 1555. Which kext did you use for audio? I tried VoodooHDA and it does not work, also tried patched AppleHDA and HDAEnabler from this link http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...pic=191055&hl= and sound works, but i can't control volume. How did you solve this?

andyi89 10-24-2011 09:34 PM

Hi, przyszedl

I've actually just started this back up again and done another installation tbh i've been using Insanleymac and haven't been back on infinite mac yet i think ive explained everything in a post on there

ive also just got two finger scrolling working but haven't managed to get gestures working im tempted to attempt voodoops2 but every things working great at the minute so i dont want to risk it!
