Yeah I know what you mean. Until now I've only had AMD based PC's, because I feel stupid paying extra money for the same thing :P
But, right now I got sick of Microsoft and Windows (Linux is not an alternative), so I'll probably have to buy Intel CPU to have full compability with MacOS..

My only reason now to switching to Lion is Xcode 4.1.1 I can't download an older one, not available, does anybody know where to get it?

I am currently running 10.6.8 with a looped .mp4 (not bad, got used to it and just because im running GTS 450... the 460 is same deal)

Would love to have Lion, even bought an upgrade voucher but it won't let me register it, it has to be done through Apple App Store..!

If you cant login into App Store, try adding this to com.apple.boot.plist, or org.chameleon.boot.plist.. whatever u use
Code:

<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>

He's giving a link to d/l xcode......

For a brief moment, I though some genius from China made a Kernel for AMD to install Lion.....Got excited for nothing.

Thanks but I can login, it just doesn't let me register the voucher. And when I try to buy it it says it needs an Intel Core 2 Duo, i3, i5 or i7 processor. I have my Hackintosh setup as an iMac11,1 ( 3Ghz core 2 duo) in About This Mac but somehow it knows it's not...

EDIT: I decided to give it a try anyways and it worked, it let me register the voucher, but it didn't download. It sat there forever but when I go to PURCHASES it shows OS X Lion as purchased! :) All I need is a kernel! LOL

He say he expecting the lion can run on his AMD machine...
And giving a link to download Xcode, i don't know why...

m4f1050 09-07-2011 01:55 AM

The link was for me, I was saying that the main reason I wanted to upgrade was because I couldn't find Xcode 4 (im using 10.6.8) so he was being nice and giving me a link where to get Xcode from. (Thank you)

But...it's torrent links. Every time I tried to download Xcode (torrent) the dmg would not mount... My friend actually got me a DVD with Xcode 4 :)

Since I registered OS X Lion already I now would like to run it! LOL

Yep, it has something to do with the network adapter.. Now we can use the App Store to download totally useless apps and delete them -.- OK, some of them are good :P

Well, maybe nawcom will make it one day.. or maybe Andy will fix the kernel which he uploaded..
Anyways, I'm happy with 10.6.8.. and I dont see whats so great about Lion.. except that it has Safari with fullscreen and some other "cool" features whcih no1 really uses :D

Where did you get that idea? It works. I use AMD and have bunch of apps from AppStore running. :)

m4f1050 09-07-2011 08:17 PM

To be honest, I've always been an Intel fan, this was the first AMD processor I bought, and because of the price. i series processors are overpriced IMHO. But I broke down and bought an i3 540 for $105 and a $30 mobo (eVGA P55V) on NewEgg... Couldn't stand the "wont work on AMD" crap anymore. Even though the only thing that wont work that I really use is OS X (LOL)

No, they work of course.. I just tried to say that I didn't use them, because many of those apps promise more than they deliver :P

haha, congrats.. I would do the same if i had the money. Another problem is that all my RAM is DDR2 and I would have to buy new DDR3 RAM too -.-

m4f1050 09-08-2011 05:21 AM

CompUSA / Tiger Direct has 16gig for $90
I split it with a buddy of mine, I got 8gb and he got 8gb each paid $40some..

Great Job ;)

m4f1050 09-13-2011 07:02 PM

Awesome news!!! :)

I actually have an ATOM processor on my CarPC, maybe I'll run OS X Lion on it! LOL

akimoa 09-14-2011 07:01 AM

only if processor is 64 bit capable !:D

m4f1050 09-14-2011 05:44 PM

akimoa how are you using 8gb? are you running in 64 bit on the AMD? mine doesn't seem to work. using legacy kernel v8

Thanks!

akimoa 09-15-2011 05:50 AM

Patch your AMD Binaries and add -force64 to your kernelflags inside your boot plist :-d

akimoa 09-16-2011 06:59 AM

Nope cause they are all over in here ;)

wastez 09-16-2011 09:45 AM

here is the link: http://osx86.co/f57/amd-and-legacy-t7263/

But i also used the search to find it.
Just entered this keywords: amd patch

hans88 09-16-2011 10:08 AM

Recompile sources for 10.7

Wastez, AnV said that you will recompile the sources for the AMD kernel for LION...can you tell us if you're still on it?? Thanks.

wastez 09-16-2011 10:25 AM

I allready compiled it but itīs not working in the moment.
The problem is that the source have changed really much since snow leopard and AnV has to find out the problem.

hans88 09-16-2011 11:03 AM

Thanks for reply wastez...was just wondering if was worth to reinstall SL or to wait for the LION kernel. Looks like the apple team wanted to make something to f*** us up and hard to get it done...keep it up guys, I know its just a question of time for you...;)

So i've had my computer since December 2006 and i just found out it was 64-bit compatible, it came with windows XP. But i wanna know if my computer would be able to run OS X Lion whenever the kernel is patched. Running Win 7 now and wanna dual boot so if anyone can take a look at the txt file or i could post images from CPU-Z.

pippox0 09-18-2011 07:05 AM

Ok u have an AMD Athlon X2 cpu, so u have to wait until amd kernel patch for Osx Lion will be released.
When it will be, u could do the magic .... Osx lion beside Win7.
If u don't want wait ... Install Snow Leopard + amd kernel patched for 10.6.8.

Have fun ...

PippoX0 :D

Question:

Are the kernels out yet? And will it work with AMD Athlon 64+ 3700?

akimoa 11-07-2011 09:51 PM

I guess it's because of the 64-bit.. AMD kernel runs in a hybrid mode on SL..:(

Lordadmiral Drake 11-15-2011 02:07 PM

And Lion kernel is pure 64bit, right?

Nope, the kernel has both i386 and x86_64 parts, but you can't run it without -force64 (If you are booting with arch=i386) because application binaries are only x86_64 :-|

Yep, That's it. Finder, etc do not start without a 64-bit kernel.

Lordadmiral Drake 12-12-2011 11:48 AM

But still. I mean, we have Atom kernel for months now. Or is Atom easier because its Intel?

A lot... because Atom can be done with a simple patch.
The same can not be said for AMD.
I tried many methods (and kernels) but I haven't got it to work with AMD yet. :-|

Would bulldozer work with a similar patch? seeing as it has all the same instruction sets implemented as the intel chips.

bonsoir ā tous !!

:)

good evening everyone.

I am a newcomer on your site that is not without interest.
I have a platform (Asus M5A97pro x4/6 960T) that works in very
well in SL 10.6.8 and would like to see it run on Lion 10.7.

I have another question, I saw FX 4100 and FX 8150 Operating
OS X 10.6 !?

http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/535633

Would you have an idea of the method with my FX 4100, I tried all
kind of flag to no avail. (busratio=18 -v -x arch=i386 -force64 debuge=0x100 .......)

Thank you. :)
