OS X 10.7.4 INDO on AMD FX 8150....SO CLOSE!!!

Ok..I've tried yet again to install OS X 10.7.4 INDO.

Success!! However..I am stuck at the same roadblock. I can boot into the system using

busratio=18 cpu=1 npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=1 -v

any other combination of flags I can boot with too.. like UsekernelCache=No

anyway...when I'm actually in the system I can't for the life of me install ANYTHING! No kexts...packages..nothing! I have a hard drive to swap files between windows and OS X and half the time I can't even copy them over to my OS X drive.

I'm a lot closer to complete system than I was months ago but now I'm just plain stuck...any suggestions??? I'm ALMOST there!!!

Have you tried PCIRootUID=0 instead of PCIRootUID=1? That is the command that works with my hackintosh I believe.

My hackintosh is weird tho, I have to shut down my computer like 2 or 3 times sometimes just to get it to finally boot up.

My command I use is -legacy busratio=17 UsekernelCache=No npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=0 GraphicsEnabler=Yes

Specs: Amd phenom IIx4 965 Black Edition 3.4ghz
gtx 570

I used Hazards Hackintosh Snow Leopard to install Itako's L2 Lion than I replaced the kernel with Machv4 kernel bro and Finder. So I may have done different method of installing Mac than some others on here. I did distros which is probably one of the reasons I have to boot up in a weird manner to get Mac to work. I think people on here swear by Retail saying its the better way to go and makes things run a bit better but I think I'm too stupid frankly for retail. I tried installing snow leopard retail before and failed miserably, so yeah...

does your finder works for you? If not, try booting with your flags but this time add "-force64". FX series should boot at 64bit by default but i just had that problem and stuck in 32bit userland which is almost imposible to work with except from clicking few 32bit applications.

You could also try RAWX kernel. Post some screenies too.

I will try using PCIRootUID=0 instead and see where it leads me. Hopefully it will make a difference.

I will report back once I've tried it!

grahfex 10-03-2012 03:33 AM

no luck..i can still boot into the system but for whatever reason i still cannot install ANYTHING. I think Im on the road to giving up.

jhusly 10-04-2012 05:36 AM

why dont you just try to install it in your system instead of using the vmware? I dont really know if running into vmware is just the same installing it.

I would be able to share with you atleast my journey getting a lion stable at 10.7.4. :-)

That's what I'm actually doing now..tried both methods and led to the same end..ANY advice you can give will be greatly appreciated!

During your installation, you choose any customization for the kext to be installed?

grahfex 10-06-2012 01:56 AM

yeah...cant tell you right off hand what i chose..though.

jhusly 10-07-2012 05:05 AM

try reinstalling again. This time only check the amd kernel and leave everything else by default. Then if it succeed, run multibeast and then install kext one at a time so you would know what work and what not.

Ok ill give that a try and report back.

Ok, so I've taken a break from installing and I've decided to come back to it. No change...I'm still unable to install anything. Installs just fine...I can get into desktop and everything. Just will not allow me to install any type of kext or app. Almost as if I'm not recognized as the Admin user of the system. And I KNOW I am, this is just plain crazy.

Is there a way I can manually install kexts?

grahfex,

Are you able to run any of the applications that come with your install?

barely if any....

lanceomni 11-24-2012 01:53 PM

Grahfex,

Please be more descriptive. For example:
Clicking icons does nothing visually and no error message is provided.
Icons bounce are begin to load but then stop and no error message is provided.
Apps try to run but fail and an Apple Error dialog appears.

In addition, check all applications. Reply with which applications do work?

Does Finder an/or Terminal work? If Terminal works, try the command;
Code:

uname -a

Finder and Terminal works ant the command that you told me to use works as well. All of the "common" apps like itunes work as well. The problem is that I can't get Kext Wizard or Kext Helper ( not sure if its supported in my distro ) to install any kexts. Any pacakges I download, will not install...for example I can download a package for my GTX 570. If I try to install it...It does nothing. My hard drive would not be visiable at all when it asks me to choose my location. I even tried mutli-beast. Same issue.

I actually checked my hard drive to see what type of access I had to it..it only said Read Only access. I've been able to change this once or twice but its actually a pain trying to do so because when I press the padlock to unlock it and give me access to change permissions...nothing happens. I would either have to keep clicking the padlock for something to pop up or log out and log back in and HOPE it works. The same if I want to add or remove users.

I'm starting to think that I just have a bad copy or something..maybe I should just re-burn the disc and try again..or if theres another solution try that. I've tried EVYERTHING so far and this is the closest I've got with any distro that I've used.

I won't give up though..not when I'm this close.

Status Update:

I am now able to install kexts and anything else.

I used the updated Kernel found here in the forums! Ethernet is working but still working on sound and having a bit of a headache getting my Nvidia GTX 570 to work.

Almost there...

lanceomni 12-18-2012 07:50 PM

Grahfex,

Can I ask what you did to correct your initial issue?

I booted into windows...I used macdrive to open up the Lion HDD created during the installation and i replaced the kernel used with the distro with R:A:W:X86's kernel i found here in the forums.

It worked...however i did try to get my graphics card to work and ended up with a Kernel panic. tried to reinstal and got the dreaded Still Waiting For Root Device error. I'll be trying again to see if i can get things running correctly.
