Whatever Happened to Kexts?

Seriously, I found a computer and it has an core i3 and everywhere I go the guides say just use iBoot+Multibeast to get it running.

Well whatever happened to GPU, sound, and network kexts? Multibeast or Snow Leopard surely can't support everything out of the box.

Sorry, I'm coming from the iPC distro days... Not used to retail installs...

The board is an Intel H57 with core i3 550.
