The used CPU is only minor important - any Intel Core should be fine.

More important is A) to get one with a compatible chipset - Intel highly recommended! - do not get VIA, SiS or stuff like that & B) to get one with a compatible graphics-chip/-card - GMA950, GMAX1300 or NVidia. Any ATI Mobility Radeon or newer Intel GMA cards are not fully supported.

okay so ive done a bit of searching around and ive come up with this. now unfortunatly i dont actually have my new laptop yet its estimated delivery date is the 14th of janurary! >> but that gives me time to do abit of reasearch

so far as an idea without actually trying ive come u with this (which is just a guess)

Bootloader: Chameleon v2

chipset: not really sure maybe intel ICHx SATA Drivers?

Other Drivers: Just Sata Patch, NTFS3G

kernel: i think is vanilla

Sound: Audio HP_DV5_IDT_V2

wireless: AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext with Dev ID inserted

Usb: usb patched

Power: Voodoo Battery - Sleep Enabler - FakeSMC

Trackpad + keypad: VoodooPS2 Controller with VoodooPS2Trackpad also placed into /S/L/E
(dont really understand that yet)

Graphics: ive heard is not supported but have seen two ways of perhaps doing it
first being: Graphics Enabler and Dev ID inserted into ATIRadeonX2000.kext and ATI4500Controller.kext
second being: i've forgotten but ill have a search round see if i cant find it :P

so far thats what ive got as an idea any input would be greatly apreciated thanks
oh and if this is now in the wrong forum please let me know and ill move it i dont really know were to put it :P thanks!

I had told you, that there is no proper support for any Mobility HD by OS X....
You can use this Framebuffer driver, I made good experiences with it. As a Framebuffer driver does, it will allow you to change screen resolution, but will not give you any kind of accerlation - so no way for HD videos, coverflow on iTunes, high-toned games and stuff like that.

I did listen to your advice but couldn’t find a laptop meeting the graphics requirements as well as getting all the other components supported (with the little amount of knowledge i had about components supported and the osx86 wiki) this seemed like a pretty reasonable choice at the time got to admit kind of a rushed decision because it was a boxing day deal and was dirt cheap.

thank you ever so much for the driver that’s fantastic i was getting quite worried about drivers for graphics that'll be a big help

as for the laptop i still haven’t got it! ive finally got a date given to me which is Tuesday hopefully should get to play with it then

whiles ive got u another thing that is worrying me is dsdt.aml patching that seems to me like a massive pain ive been speaking on another forum to somebody about it and it just seems quite involved so if u had any input on that topic that would be really appreciated. Thanks

Currently there is allmost nothing that will force you to mess with editing any acpi table by hand - maybe the need to patch it using fassls utility to solve something, but that's aint a big deal - for all those edits there is allmost also a kext or string based solution or alternative out there.
