Using ASU 0.5 and installing 10.5.3 directly, resulted in a Kernel Panic on my system. I can't gain access to the O/S from either ends (safe boot and normal boot). I can't even post a log now. As soon as 10.5.3 was installed in the ASU, the message appeared, where I needed to restart my system. Any ideas? Thanks. My specifications are located in my user profile.

Hava you overclocked you CPU? I get this error if I push my CPU too hard.

Sorry WinLinMac, we need more details about the kernel panic! Could you make a picture of it?

No, I have not overclocked my processor. Its running at its normal clock speed.
EDIT- Puttabong, I'm going to upload a picture in a little while. =)

I gave it five minutes and below is what I ended up with:
Any idea now?

Has this only something to do with Intel cpu temeperature system or does it handle Cool'nQuiet too? AMD cpus are very cool using OS X, they have less heat than Windows using Cool 'n'Quiet. Will it ever be possible to check the AMD hardware sensors (CPU temp, onboard fan) etc?
EDIT: I can o'clock my cpu again. On 10.5.2 the max wasn't possible than 2.52 GHz, Now I can use 2.64 GHz again :-)

WinLinMac01: Is the Extensions.mkext rebuilt (large text scrolling up) before you get that error? If I push my machine to 225 MHz bus frequency I always get this, with 220 not.

Yes the Extensions.mkext is rebuilt before I get that error. If you look at that image close enough IMG_2806, you will see the Kernel Panic I am receiving even in safe boot. I tried waiting for a response from the system for 5 minutes, and there was no progress after I received the panic. My CPU is not O/C'ed. Any idea?

Ever tried to reset the BIOS to defaults or take out the CMOS battery? We often got this error due to wrong BIOS settings, RAM modules may also be a problem. I also disable all unneccessary things in BIOS, so Floppy, Parallel port, Game port, Midi.

I have not touched my hardware settings for over a month now. I checked the settings, and all appears fine. What is up with the Kernel Panic. Anyone else experienced this error after installing 10.5.3???

I only have it when I overclock my system too much. Try to take out the CMOS battery (disconnect power) and set the BIOS to default. Works often better as thought. BTW: I there maybe a BIOS update available for your board?

zephyroth:?
Remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from /System/Library/Extensions.
Did you do this, WinLinMac?
Did you boot in single user mode & executed the following commands?
cd /System/Library/Extensions
rm -R AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
reboot

I'm going to go into Sabayon Linux where I can gain access to HFS+ partitions and manually remove the file from there. What do you think? Thanks. =)
WinLinMac01

I also installed MacDrive 7 in Windows just in case I cannot write files to the HFS+ Partition in Linux. =p
I can also remove that file through the single user mode as you told me Puttabong. =)
I'm going to do as you told me Puttabong first.
Thanks

Puttabong, I don't have AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in my system. I presume it's a plugin inside AppleIOPlatform.kext or so, but I don't know exactly where.
BTW: Wanna join me and R0GUE in irc?

I deleted the kext that you told me to do so Puttabong, and I was finally able to avoid the Kernel Panic. However, now instead, my system reboots. Attached are the screenshots when I boot in Verbose mode (very interested because it looks like I am booting into safe boot, but I'm not).

Having the exact same problem as you WinLinMac01, i deleted the kext using the leo4all dvd terminal, but now it just reboots my pc when i want to boot mac osx...

Thanks for confirming that p-J. I can't seem to figure what the problem is. I booted into Verbose Mode and there is no error showing up. It just reboots in the very end, "syncing disks..." etc. Any ideas?

p-J, I just wanted to know, before you proceeded to updating did you select the "Modify Only" option. I did that and 52 files were successfully patched. What about yours?
pαuℓzurrr.
06-06-2008, 09:50 PM
I didn't use the modify only button, but i saw that i didnt find any cpuids or something, found that allready strange.
I think i screwed the installation, im saving all the files i can now, and then im off reinstalling :)
Gotta learn from the mistakes uh :p

Help would be appreciated now in regards to this. I don't find any error in the log I posted in the screenshot above.
I tried almost everything I can think off. Are there any more kexts I need to delete?
Why 52 files patched? normally must be (and i think it's the same for all of us)
47 of 47 visited files were successfully patched.
121 of 121 found patches were successfully applied.
i can't see your snapshot... i download a 1kb jpg file.
Where system hangs? After upgrade normally the problems afflicts graphic and sound, but if you cannot login even in safe mode it's very strange.
Tried to boot with -v -F -x?
On a notebook i got on work this string made me boot after kext's problems (audio probs)
Sure is it not a video issue? try to delete from macdrive all the video card kexts..
WinLinMac01

I did try to boot with -v -f -x
It probably did patch 47 files. I could be referring to something else.
