Ok real brief does anyone have 10.5.3 working on a phenom system if so whats your secret. I cant manage it and I know of one other user with exact same symptoms as myself. They are on a different chipset so im guessing its either a phenom problem or kernel problem as no efi kernels for phenom.

I can't do it... 10.5.3 ASU or trying the Apple Updater + Marvin's TOTALLY breaks my 10.5.1z install. I've got a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM S2H 780G motherboard (SB700) and a Phenom 9550. 10.5.1 and the 9.1 kernel works for me with AHCI enabled. 10.5.2 and/or anything with EFI doesn't - really doesn't...

I think I'm going to try L4Av3 and the new ppf just to try the new EFI when I get a chance, but, I don't really expect this to go too far. (I would need to add a video card to mine - I'll probably never get QE/CI with the onboard ATi HD3200 video. This is my Vista Media Center HTPC, so I'm not going to do that...)

@ cgsheen
Just to let you know chameleon boot loader allows you to run 9.3.0 modbin kernel this i can confirm just gonna try the latest applesmbios.kext. Then maybe 10.5.3

p.s. how did you get 10.5.1 on SB700 I thought it wasnt supported I know quite a few had a no go with it and you way may be a great help to them.

AHCI... But also, you know I do a lot of this stuff with an external (USB) drive - that let's me sidestep certain chipset issues. Did you run xbench yet?

(I installed Chameleon EFI and the modbin 9.3 kernel earlier - so far so good. Running fine with 10.5.1 and 9.3)

Crap. Zeph's ASU just installed the 10.5.3 update and I'm in the Desktop with the 9.3 kernel. I ran xbench with disk and openGL turned off - 179 - my "good install" with a 2.2GHz dual core scores 120 in that same mode... (the 780G is using software QE and no CI - no .kext for my video) I'm typing from the Phenom machine now) Too bad the 2.2GHz Phenom 9550 doesn't double the X2 score...

Apparently the answer to your question is: Yes, 10.5.3 can run on a Phenom...

Just added the latest smbios_27
