Hey guys,

With Kabyl we're looking for more Phenom users, but finally i got a tiny email today about a success:

"just to let you know chameleon allows phenom to run 9.3.0 kernel
before couldnt run any efi kernels thanx a million"

Could you confirm this too? :)

I was able to install the 10.5.3 Update on my 10.5.1 install after I installed chameleon. So now I'm using chameleon. 9.3 modbin kernel, smbios27, and the 10.5.3 Update installed with Zeph's ASU...

Gigabyte GA-MA78GM S2H
AMD Phenom 9550 (2.2GHz quad core)
2GB DDR2 PC6400 (800MHz) RAM
onboard Radeon HD3200 IGP

Am I the first person in the Universe to have 10.5.3 running on a Phenom?
Is there some kind of medal for that?
:-P

Gook luck! And THANKS!
You're the one who spurred us on. I probably wouldn't have tried this otherwise.

(on mine, after Zeph's ASU was complete (and I only ran the 10.5.3 update, none of the others so far) it stalled booting the first time. That made me nervous... I restarted it again and used -f at boot and it fired right up. I've booted and/or restarted it a dozen times since (without any "startup options") and it's always loaded just fine since then.)

@z3f
that was my mail but diskeeper was the 1st to take the leap and its him and yourslf I thank once again. Also as a side note since I am now using chameleon it has allowed for the first time the AMD software update to download and patch the files for the 1st time. So am I brave enough to run it or do i build a quick and nasty disk to try on??????

A test partition seems to be the better solution if you don't like surprises.

zeph just to let you know couldnt be bothered with the test partition 10.5.3 went fine just ended up with white menus problem but all rectified. So i'm fully upto date kernels included. I would like to try to build my own disk first before i do another install. Any pointers on adding pkgs?????

Thanx
