Hey guys,

I will run a Phenom 9150e on OS X. The Mainboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H.

Which version is the best for this combo and is there support for the HD3200 IGP, I haven't a discret graphiccard.

iPC, Leo4All, LawlessPPC, Zephyroth?

Thanks in advance
FH

P.S. I did made the same post on insanlelymac, but didn't get an anwser :-(

I would say LawlessPPC as that was made specifically to get Phenom working on AMD. It's possible the latest Leo4All might work but i'm not sure. FYI, iPC isn't out yet and Zephyroth doesn't work with Phenom at all.

AFAIK the HD3200 IGP will only work in vesa mode with no QE/CI so you'll have to get a new graphics card if you want the full experience. :)

Thanks a lot! :-)
Which graphiccard is to prefer?

It schould be:

- QE/CI enabled
- low cost
- low power!!!
- fanless :-)

Thanks in advance!

Edit: is one of these cards supported by Leopard?

I can't tell you whether or not those cards are fully supported in OS X as I don't really follow ATI compatibility, but you might want to look at this thread (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=107526) as there are details and references to drivers for the HD 36xx series.

I have the same motherboard but with an Athlon X2 (running Leo4All 4.1). I would recommend LawlessPPC as well since it installs the Chameleon bootloader by default which is needed for Phenoms. Leo4All 4.1 has a Chameleon option as well but may be harder to get working because of its' numerous install options. Also make sure you have SATA drives since the SB700 isn't supported or else you'll get the dreaded Waiting For Root Device if you try to boot from IDE.

As far as graphics cards go I can tell you that the HD 3850 works perfectly (using the drivers that R0GUE referenced to) but it has a fan. Don't see why the 3650 wouldn't work but I can't tell you for sure; I'd prob go for a GeForce since they tend to be the most compatible.

Good motherboard btw -- after some tweaking I was able to get about a 20 second boot time :)

... and Zephyroth doesn't work with Phenom at all.

Actually, that's how we got the Phenom's going in the first place - Zephyroth 10.5.1. No PC_EFI v8... That allowed us to install on a Phenom before Chameleon EFI for K10. That was the core of my original Phenom install, then I used Zephyroth ASU to install the 10.5.3 update and later the 10.5.4 update. After a few of us had it installed and working, Lawless made it all much easier for everyone when he packaged his 10.5.4 release...

Hi guys,

second question: Now I'm searching for a MacOS X, Vista and XP compatible WLAN PCI(e) card for my FirstHackTosh ;)

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Me bad, i stand corrected :-!. It was the pc_efi part that was incompatible with Phenom not Zeph's release itself.

I have 2 or 3 of these:

http://www.airlink101.com/products/awll3026.php

Bought them for about $8-$10 on sale at Fry's Electronics. I've used them with WinXP, Vista, and OSx86 (10.5.1 through 10.5.4) There are OSX drivers for 10.4 on the website - they work in 10.5.x also.

You might look at their PCI cards - might have OSX drivers for them too...

Hi, I've read this thread and I need some help.
I have the same MB Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H but with AMD Phenom II 920, plus 4Gb RAM DDR2 800Mhz, HD 500GB SATA, DVD-RW LG SATA, Internal USB Card Reader and D-Link DWA-110 USB WiFi.
I've installed Windows XP and everything works fine. Now I want to make a triple boot with Windows XP, Windows 7 (for test propose only) and OSx86.
First of all, I've disconnected the Internal USB Card Reader and D-Link DWA-110 USB WiFi because I want to try first the system OOB. I setup my BIOS to use AHCI mode for the SATA drives.
I've tried to use Leo4All but it didn't load the install. Then I tried iPC OSx86 10.5.6. I've followed the install instructions and I didn't select any optionals. I've formatted my SATA drive as Mac OS journaled and MBR partition map. I've choose the default boot loader (Chameleon 1.0.12). The installation has worked ok and I need to reboot. The boot loader loads and everytime when Darwin starts, my computer reboots !!!
I've tried to set "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32" but it didn't work.

Anyone could help ? Tks in advance.

Try Native IDE. I've had it act fishy under AHCI before, so it's a thought.
As for Phenoms...not to knock things off topic but I was wondering. If you take a perfectly working OSx86 with an X2 (this install is Kalyway, but updated to 10.5.7 + Chameleon bootloader) and swap out the X2 with a Phenom, will it work okay, will it slow down, or will it not work at all and require a full reinstall of LawlessPPC?
