Hi guys,

I'm going to change my mobo, because of some issues with the present MSI k9a2 cf-f(usb problems, mostly when using apple's alu keyboard). I need something cheap, because I'm thinking of a quad core intel upgrade after 2-3 months. But I'd like to make this machine as functional as possible.

So which am2+ board would you suggest? I would like to have a faster booting time also(now is more than a minute). I was thinking about Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H 780G+SB700. The price here is about $100. I don't know what the difference will be, going from 790X to 780G... is a downgrade? I don't need the extra pci-e for crossfire, that I have now. I just need a good board for os x, with good booting times and hopefully without the current issues.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Why waste money? Wait three month and buy an Intel

it's not really a waste, cause I'm building a vista htpc with phenom, and my old board is perfect for that. Just use the opportunity to fix the stupid usb problem. Actually I don't really need a 780G board, cause it has a built-in gpu, so I'm gonna be looking at 770 boards, which are even cheaper. Unfortunately Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 (rev. 2.0) is not available yet here and I want the SB700.

Actually which one is better for osx sb600 or sb700? There's really not that much info... can I also keep my install with the new board?

Take a look around the members list and find the Phenom guys. Thats the best advice I can give as I am still a lowly Athlon 64x2 kind of guy. One day though ;)

I will keep my eyes open and if any good suggestions come by I'll pass them on.

Thank you for the reply. I already did that and decided to get the first rev of GA-MA770-DS3 with SB600. It should be almost the same as my board, but without the crossfire. So it should work well. Will write here when I get it.
