Hello!
I'm going to try finally this great system since I have no money to buy a real mac. Can you tell me is my pc enough good for this?
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Motherboard: Asus P5VD2-X
RAM: 3GB DDR2 SDRAM
Bios (don't know if it's very important but...): Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Hard drive: WDC WD3200JS-60PDB0 ATA
Graphic card: GeForce 7600 GS 512 MB
Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure that most people would ignore this post, but I'll reply. It should work, but do some research on everything you possibly can before installing.
Also, check out the site's Wiki too. Its pretty helpful with stuff you may encounter.

While I am kinda thrown off by rocafellabryan's post... yeah, anyways.
Its not specifically listed amongst the ASUS motherboards here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.2#Asus but I'm fairly certain some are similar and can use similar setups as listed. It never hurts to give it a try... Leo4All is a good distro that isn't completely set aside for AMD... Kalyway is a good series too. also, don't think you need to get the newest distro out there... you can update through good apps that will get you to 10.5.5.
i don;t want to make another thread just for me so...
here is my system:
- AMD Phenom 9950 X4 Black Edition 140W - (has SSE4a too)
- MSI DKA790GX - AMD 790GX , SB750
- OCZ Platinum 2*2GB 1000MHz
- Asus Geforce 8600GT Silencer 512 DDR3
- Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Audio
- Western Digital SATA2
- Asus DVD-RW IDE
i have 2 partitions :
C - NTFS with Vista x64 (~97GB)
D - Unpartition (~56GB)
first i tryed Apple.Mac.OSX.Leopard.10.5.2.AMD.EFI Rev1 then someone told me that it uses EFI-PC and i couldn't use it, so i download : OSX86 Leopard For AMD LawlessPPC-Leo-10.5.4-Phenom&AMD link (http://hotfilms.org/non-windows/osx86-leopard-amd-lawlessppc-leo-10-5-4-phenom-amd-98940.html)
and after i gave the -v command it says : still waiting for root device
i've tryed to change from IDE to AHCI with no luck :(
please if you have any hints pls tell me
thx

Misi - I suggest you post over on the LawlessPPC thread and have a look through it. Have you read the systems its supported on? I know the Sb700 series has issues so you may want to look through those threads as well for more guidance. I always feel its better to learn through reading problems others have experienced and fixed. This should give you a little more insight as to the workings of the system so you'll know what's going on when things go haywire.

hey... no reason to apologize. Just thought it might help you out a little more to read through some of the problems that have been encountered by others with similar systems. usually then people are better equipped to tell us what they've done to counteract the problems they are experiencing.

Hello!
I've managed to boot the install, installed everything perfectly and now I am having 2 problems:
When installed with vanilla kernel - restarting over and over.
When installed with normal one - "still waiting for boot device" (after some errors about JMicron)
I've used Leo4All-10.5.2 disc. I hope someone of you can help me :)

misi-it wont work with those two partions. i suggest getting a) a new hd or b) partionining it full w/ mac.
I have the same north and southbridge on my mobo as you, although i have 9850 phenom.
In bios make sure you turn on AHCI and also turn on the raid controller on top to AHCI. Its on the same page that you turned the sata drive to ahci. that should work. I will double check the next time i restart to be a little more specific, but ya, once you do that it solves the still waiting for root error and you should be able to install.
I have 10.5.4 lawless installed and it runs AWESOME, recognizing 8gb of ram and no problems at all. I haven't been able to get to 10.5.5 yet but I think its my video card that isn't letting me. anyway, if you need any more specific help I'll be glad to help seeing as how we have similar systems and I have done a thing or two on mine to get it going.

If you are talking to me ;)
I have ata drive and I've successfully installed leopard using Leo4All-10.5.2 DVD but now I can't boot it, because of this error...

I'm having problems installing any OSx86 version on this system. Right off the bat when i run the CD in my ROM drive, my system reboots...endless loop. I don't even get a kernel or any text on the screen, just reboot. I used to have a nforce board that worked with OSx86 Leo4all 10.5.2...
Is there something I'm missing? Bios settings? Know issue with this motherboard or chipset?
If anyone has any idea on how to get this working I would appreciate it.
Also does it make a difference weather or not my hard drives or rom drives are ide or sata?
