I am running the GA-EP45-DS3L with 2GB DDR2 OCZ Fatal1ty 1066 Ram
320GB SATA hard drive and a Samsumg Lightscribe IDE DVDRW. Is there a Distro out there that supports IDE DVD drives? I really want to install! Thanks a lot for any help!

No, I am using Kalyway 10.5.2, Leo4All10.5.2 and I think Zeph 10.5.1 and none of them boot. They all say waiting for root device. I have a SATA hard drive but an IDE DVD drive. They won't boot and I have no clue how to patch them with the Jmicron patch so I just wanted another ISO source.

What do you have your dvd drive set on? Master or slave? Try setting it as a slave drive

I will try that tonight. Do I need to set it as slave on my IDE ribbon or just in BIOS? Also, should it be slave to another DVD drive or Slave to the Hard Drive?

change the jumper settings. Look on the back of your DVD drive and look at the jumper settings (next do the p-ata cable) and then just move the pin to the correct slave settings.

it aint easy as that. with running a hackintosh many aspects of your setup come in play.
normally all distros boot from dvd BUT every one has a slight different "driver" / hardware
support. every non-apple computer is assembled different and hence getting osx to run is
trial and error.
as mentioned above, in your case it might be as easy as jumpering your drive different.
btw. as you are running an intel hack, i would not use amd distros like zeph ..

Okay I will try this as soon as I can. I really appreciate all of the help. I am going to try it with Kalyway and Leo4All. I will let you know if I need anything else.

Okay, I switched the IDE drive to slave and still get the "waiting for root device" after a bunch of Jmicron crap. Is there any distro out there that will just boot from an IDE drive?

As Zuz said it could be a hardware incompatibility that is causing this. All distros boot from IDE/ S-ata dvd drives however if the hardware isn't supported, it will not work. What are your specs?

what boot flags have you tried using?
OSx86 is not as cut and dry as most people would like it to be. You cannot just expect it to work on your system without messing around with it first.
Have you tried to make a boot-132 disc to swap out for a retail yet (or your kalyway disc)?

I have a GA-EP45-DS3L (JMicron JMB368)
Intel C2D 7300
Hitachi 300GB SATA
Samsung IDE DVD
2GB OCZ DDR2 1066MHz
I cannot for the life of me get any distro DVD to boot. I set BIOS like they need to be set and still nothing. ANy help would be awesome.
I also don't have advance knowledge of making a boot 132 disk. Is there a guide on here?

found this on the wiki: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.2#Gigabyte
Then scroll down to the second listed board (your GA-EP45-DS3L) and it explains how it can be done.
There's also: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=135948 and this one has photos of the setup for the BIOS as well.

Hello! I have exactly the same problem with my GA-EP45-DS3P. I have a SATA hard drive but an IDE DVD-RW. I wonder how did you managed to boot via the IDE DVD.. Is there any settings in the BIOS? I have AHCI enabled and tried almost all of the possible BIOS settings. Maybe the key is a specific combination of settings.. Can you help me please? Thank you!
