I have been running Zephyroth's 10.5.2 updated over the last year to 10.5.5. I have had some issues, but nothing I couldn't fix or live with. I liked it so much, I gave my G5 to my wife and my HacIntosh became my main machine. When I tried to update to 10.5.6, it all came crashing down around my ears. I kept back-ups so nothing of value was lost. I tried to install (unsuccessfully) almost all the distros out there (including iPC 10.5.6 beta), and finally settled on Lawless 10.5.4. However, I couldn't update it, even to 10.5.5. I became acutely aware of my need for stability and bought a MacBook Pro. Today, after several tries, I installed iPC 10.5.6 final on my HacIntosh. I have been able to iron out the few glitches, and now it is more stable than it's ever been.
Again, thank you to all that worked on this, and all who contributed to the cause.
Rick :)

Is it possible to install iPC OSx86 Leopard 10.5.6 on my system, I have tried with other distributions I while a go but never succeed with them probably due to my Nforce3 chip. So to my question: will this distribution work on my system, or do I have to prepare the installation DVD with some special Kext for example VIA instead of AppleNforce.
(I have install all the updates to the DVD, five updates).

Hi Hara Taiki, PCwiz & all, Can anybody advise on how I can work around this problem? I can install iPC but cannot boot into install,Apple NForceATA: found 0 units. I have a Presario F500 AMD Sempron. Chipset is Nvidia MCP51, nForce 410/430 MCP. I have tried many different ways but cannot boot. I can, however, install Kalyway 10.5.2 and Leo4all 4.1 and boot to desktop but I really want iPC and it's superior peripherals support and voodoo. Please help me. There must be a way to include what I need to boot.
@dracea, Hi, your hardware looks perfect. you need to elaborate on your problem. With hardware like this you could install from a retail DVD

Successfull iPC 10.5.6 installation on:
AMD64 Athlon X2 5000+ @ 2.80GHz
Northbridge: NVidia Quadro NVS210S GPU
Southbridge: NVidia nForce 430B MCP
4 Gb DDR2 800Mhz RAM
C-Media 8738 Audio
Realtek RTL8139 LAN
NVidia GeForce 6600 128Mb RAM
SATA II 500GB Samsung
But I went into a lot of trouble 'till things finally worked out good:
At first, the installation failed because the audio kexts from the DVD were corrupted.
Then, I tried once again, without installing the audio kexts. Installation went fine, but I saw the mouse pointer was moving extremly slow. Somehow, I've managed to delete the nvdarwin kext. The mouse pointer was now moving, but, without the video card injector, it was useless.
I accessed the Extensions folder to check out if the disabler was there. Well, there it was. But, I also found AppleCUPThermal.kext and AppleThermal.kext. I've deleted those kexts then reinstalled nvdarwin.
And now I have a fully functional 10.5.6 on my AMD computer. Oh joy! :D

I installed iPC 10.5.6 on my Gateway MX8738 laptop Core Duo GMA950 using an external usb hdd. My main system is iATKOS v5i updated to 10.5.6 vanilla. I checked video, Intel SATA, Powermanagement pkg, clamshell, AppleSMBIOS Anv MacBook Pro, PS/2 keyboard fix, and everything went fine with a post install of sound patch, trackpadpane, and kext for side scroll. The big change that I noticed with this system is that itunes new smart playlist DOES NOT crash itunes. This worked with both itunes 7 and again with 8 after I did all software updates. Has anyone else noticed this problem "fixed" with iPC Leopard? Nice DVD!!!!

I have the following system and have been experimenting - not a lot of success
MB: ASUS M2NBP-VM CSM
CPU AMD 64X2 5000+
Graphics: Nvidia 8400 GS
SATA drive - Have a "version" of Leopard (10.5.2 -> 10.5.4 -> 10.5.5)
PATA drive - This is the drive I am trying to install the 10.5.6
4 GB 800 MHz RAM
PS2 Keyboard (wireless) and Mouse
Audio - Built in (AppleAzalia works well
Eth: Internal (nForceEthernetdriver works reasonably well) - Nvidia nForce 430B Gigabit
External - Ethernet-to-USB - works pretty well
Loaded base + chipset formy sata (detects it) + NVIDIA + PS2 fix + nForce + appl.
voodoo kernel + seabelt (i read AM==> voodoo + seabelt somewhere).
Mouse very slow and erratic.
Loaded base +chipset+ keyboard fix => Unable to detect KB and Mouse
I also have te problem of booting of the DVD, but I solved it by installing from the existing 10.5.5
Any way any suggestions greatly appreciated

All worked until i booted up the first time and it gives me a blue screen. i guess this is because of the video drivers. how can i delete them?
Taisto
02-28-2009, 06:34 PM
Boot with -x so they won`t load, and remove them normally - browse to system/library/extensions with finder.
Or boot with -s, if you can`t make any changes - write mount -uw / , browse to extension folder and remove them manually with rm command.

You can also copy it manually but i`d suggest you to use the app.

Taisto
03-01-2009, 02:56 PM
Yeah, 22, unfortunately. Well...i`d suggest that you borrow an usb keyboard from friend for an hour, or buy the cheapest one to solve it. It`d be the easiest way. You could also try downloading the kext onto pendrive, boot into installer and try to mount it and copy the kext with the terminal, i did something like that few months ago but was copying from the hdd, not the pendrive. i`m not sure if it`d be possible.

just curious, it says in the important notes that :
- Default kernel installed is 9.6.0 Vanilla kernel
does this mean, that if i don't check anything in the kernels menu (while installing), i'll get the 9.6.0 vanilla kernel?
Yes, this is what "default' implies. No choice selected = vanilla... sooo yummy

erm, i have yet another (probably noobish) question.
Do I need to stay disconnected while I'm setting up os X after on first boot ever, so my information doesn't get sent to apple?
Does this matter? Will everything be ok even if I leave the ethernet cable plugged in ?
i've watched a clip where one guy said it has to be unplugged... maybe he was wrong ?
@vladrxpx.
Plugged or not makes no diff. At registration form you can press Alt or Windowz key and Q which will give you a "skip" choice. Leave Apple ID blank.

Hi,
just to make shure.... you're on AMD...are you aware that you must choose Voodoo kernel when in AMD or SSE2 systems? And in this case you must choose too Seatbelt 9.5 ...
tacapaca
03-04-2009, 12:18 PM
yes, at every install i choose the 9.5 voodoo kernel, because i'am on amd. as i told you after a get the message to restart, i wait for several seconds and the i get the kernel panic. and when my pc boots, after i press the restart button on my case, sometimes it shows me only the apple logo, sometimes, the apple logo and that moving thing, and sometimes, but this is rare, it showed me a blue screen.

I just wanted to put a quick thanks to all. I have many computers two of which I am running osx86, the one I am referencing in this post has IPC running very well. I am using a phenom 940 3.0 GHz overclocked to 3.49 GHz all four cores are enabled. I am using a Tpower N750 Biostar motherboard with stock video. I apologize if I posted the wrong post in the wrong area. It was emphasized that I post and I didn't really know where to put this so this forum seem most logical. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, I will reply in time.

Hello!
I've been trying to install OSx86 for weeks now on a MS-7376 based clone with an AMD quad Phenom proc with minimul success. I'm able to boot to the DvD and complete the install with no problems but get the dreaded "waiting for root device" error when trying to boot from the HD after install. I have used the -f flag after each install completes.
I've scoured the net and several message boards and have found that the likely culprit is the chipset on the board. It's the SB600/790FX chipset.
As I said, I'm able to install without issue (have done so 100's of times trying various options) and even use the DvD as a boot disc to log into OSx. Once in, I'm able to access my Windows filesystem which is located on a seperate SATA drive. My IPC install is located on an IDE drive set as Primary Master btw.
When I boot from the disc and into the OS (rd=disk0s2) I don't have any network drivers, sound or video.
My question is basically this.
How could I install the same SATA drivers that the iso uses? it appears to load the motherboard drivers without any problems.
Thank you for any advice you can offer!

well, i can't see NTFS with macFUSE and NTFS-3g installed, even before i couldn't read NTFS partitions..
I have osx86 installed on one hitachi HDD (installed using GUID partitioning but EFI installation says i cant install it because it's not GUID partitioned.. which is weird because i know i checked GUID partitioning while i was making new volumes for installing osx (iPC) ), and vista installed on another seagate HDD
on vista, i installed HFSexplorer, and even there it doesn't show partitions..

I have been trying for a couple months now to install leopard on my dv1000 laptop, with no luck. I did however install XXX 10.4.11 with no problems.
Specs :
Intel Celeron M (sse2)
Intel 855 chipset
IDE Hard Drive
1.5 gb of ram
Standard network and sound drivers.
I keep getting kernel panics and immediate reboots, even with assorted flags. -V, -X, both dont offer any help at telling me what the problem is.
Ive tried multiple versions, iatkos, ideneb, and now XXX_10.5.6_Final, and still nothing. Ive tried every combination that i could think of.
Someone please point me in the right direction. Is it possible to install leopard with a sse2 processor and the intell 855 chipset?

Thanks, that's a nice option as the DVD won't let you do a post install of a driver. I plan to try two different video cards. Seems like the best way would be to use EFI Studio and then uninstall and reinstall.

I currently have Kallyway 10.5.2 installed, had to slipstream the SB600 kext on to the DVD, but it works. Perfectly.
I tried installing iPC, and it failed. Miserably.
It seems Chameleon is the problem. It doesn't like MSI K9A2 CF board with the custom AHCI BIOS and AHCI enabled.
Turn AHCI off, and it sorta works. On installation, it gets as far as a grey screen, and spins the beach ball.
I'm willing to try to help the Chameleon and iPC teams fix this release by supplying whatever info regarding the install that they require - Ask away.

I have the problem of not being able to connect to itunes sharing on my network, as well as ichat using bonjour. I didn't use any ethernet drivers when installing iPC, and have internet working fine plugging it into my router, as well as sharing files between computers. Also my TM gives the ethernet error. Is there a fix on the dvd for this problem? I'm using a Gigabyte P35-DS4 with its Realtek 8111B ethernet.
I reinstalled now using the R1000 psystar driver for ethernet and everything now works. I did try the NVinject driver for my video card but it didn't enable QE/CI. I had to reinstall without video drivers, and run efi studio, which did the trick. Also, now my TM seems to be working normally.

Looks like it doesnt like the voodoo kernel. Try booting with -x and see what happens. The older dvd probably uses the toh kernel. I don't know if this dvd includes choices for boot kernels, but other distros do. That way you could try booting with toh and see if it works.

mkay.. so I have tried to install 3 iPC disks that I have "acquired"... I get an error at the very end of the install either saying that the install disk is corrupted or that my hard drive cannot be set as the startup disk and that I should do it manually, though it wont let me. I'm using a PATA disk with a SATA converter. iPC wont detect the PATA disk on its own. I'm currently running leo4all v3. Works like a dream but it is only 10.5.2 and some new software I want to run is 10.5.5 and up. Are newer versions of OS X not PATA HD compatable? My PATA DVD burner was detected just fine. I have a genuine SATA HD but it is running my leo4all and I am unwilling to start from scratch again cuz I've tried a few times with no success.

The iPC is osx86 installation.
Does this mean it is 32bit operating system of osX or it could be 64bit if you have that kind of processor ?
does the bit type install itself based on the processor you have ?
Ali C.

OSx86 is a tagname, really. Most of the distros, including iPC (as far as I can tell) support 64-bit mode if your processor is capable and you can get a kernel that supports it.

I have tried lots of different drivers (lost count of number of installs done ^_^ ), including no drivers, and I know the 6100 integrated graphics are not supported (I can live with 1024x768), but I am stumped. I had graphics going OK with Leo4AllV5, so I'm not sure what I'm missing. Ironically installer DVD windows work fine. TIA
Much appreciate all the work that has gone into these distros, amazing!
Hi PLx, I have used the nvidia kext package from leo4allv4.1 with this gfx. Try it...

Just registered to reply you. I guess it's a little late, but still... See my post here:

Hi everyone. I'm new leopard user, I tested it and I must say I like it very very much, I've never seen more "user friendly" system than this one, and I've tested many operating systems (Win from 3.x to W7, many linux distros, ReactOS, etc..). I like leopard so much, the only thing that's forcing me to stick with my current os (winXP) is my Leadtek WinFast 2000XP TV/FM Card, Leopard doesn't support it :/
...or maybe I'm wrong, is there a way to run my WinFast 2000XP card on Leopard?
besides this, I have two major issues:
first one: in 1 out of 5 system boots I don't get my mouse USB support, my mouse doesn't react, then I just reset and it works (btw, is there a shortcut for calling "apple" button, like there is "win" key for calling "start" button?). Why is this happening with my mouse?
other one: Once I reboot, or shutdown PC, next time it starts booting, and pass the BIOS's HDDs gathering, I get second boot, like my BIOS check RAM, finds out which HDD/CD/DVD drives I have, and then it should pop up chameleon boot program, but it doesn't it reboots itself, does BIOS ram check, check HDD/DvD/CD connected, and then it works normal, load chameleon, etc...
my hardware:
Athlon X2 64 4200
[email protected] (FSB@219)
MSI Motherboard (nForce 520 chipset)
Gainward nVidia GeForce8600GT
Maxtor HDD 80GB (ATA)
Pioneer DVD 212 (not sure if 212), (ATA) ;HDD and DVD are connected to 1 IDE Cabel, HDD is master)
Creative Audigy 1 sound card (working, but without input support, is there a fix for this so I can use my MIC as well?)
Leadtek WinFast 2000XP TV/FM

hi all
first post here so hope i'm not too demanding... :)
nb specs listed below.
btw im trying to vmware workstation 6.5 the mac.
i've tried numerous settings in vmware from various guides around the net with no real joy so im sure its not that?
Ive tried Kalyway 10.5.2, JaS 10.5.4 and now iPC 10.5.6 PPF5 build which gets the farthest from what i can see.
i just cannot get very far, iPC gets me to the apple logo screen with a spinning timer that freezes after 10 mins.
the panic i get states: bsd process name corresponding to current thread: coreraidserver
just tried it again and got udf.util this time...
thanks in advance
andy

Ok after searching the web for the last few hours and playing around with different settings i am stumped. i am using ipc 10.5.6 final and got it to work on my toshiba tablet. I am trying to make it work on a amd system but am having no luck. i can get to the darwin boot loader and start using -v flag but i get hung up at extension "com.apple.driver.itunesphonedriver" has no explicit kernal dependency; using version 6.0 and then i get the never ending still waiting for root device.
my hardware is:
Compaq SR1560NX
amd athlon 64 3500+
2gb ram
250gb SATA 2.5" HDD
lightscribe dvdrw/cdrw
if it helps any the hdd is set as master 3 and the dvd is set as slave 2.

Hy,
I have an "iPC_OSx86_10_5_6_Universal_PPF5_Final".
I burnt it on a DVD-R with nero9 at 4x.
Created a partition with "diskpart" using the comand series:
create partition primary id=af
active
Then I've rebooted from the freshly burned DVD-R.
I hit F8 and typed -x, the hit Enter.
It displays some command lines then it halts on "Still waiting for root device".

I'm downloading the iPC Public Beta (Leopard 10.5.6), but I'm not installing it as a OS, I'm installing it on VMWare Workstation. Is it possible for somebody to tell me what to do for the install? All I want is 10.5.6 to work and preferably networking. I don't care about audio. Once I get it working, I'm installing the iPhone SDK 2.21 (can't wait!).
My specs go as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 (2.00GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS
Windows Vista Home Premium x32 as host
VMWare Workstation 6.5
My VM is setup as:
-25 GB IDE drive
-Guest OS is FreeBSD 64-bit (I had it like that for 10.5.2, but I needed 10.5.3 and I couldn't get it so I'm using 10.5.6)
-1 Processor
-No Networking (To keep it from registering)
Please help as soon as possible!
Thanks everyone,
Computer Age:)

Hi, and thanks to pcwiz, Hara Taiki, and all those who are putting up with us noobs AND slaving putting together this great disk. I really appreciate the work involved.
Dual boot using a USB drive for MacOS, Vista on mothership.
Without selecting any kernel (should default to Vanilla 9.6.0, right?), I can install. However, it NEVER boots, I just get the spinning wheel on the Apple screen, and then a reboot. Even on verbose, the reboot happens so quickly, I can't read anything critical on the crash info to tell you. Can anyone tell me why and how I might work around it?
I can get some things working with Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernel.
Best so far with Universal 9.4.0. Burned iMovies using iDVD!
Can get wireless to work (intermittently):-/. No firewire (why not?):'(. Had Tablet working with TabletMagic...but that broke at some point (and I don't know where!) :-/Oh, and no internal sound whatsoever at any point. HOWEVER, I have a USB audio card that works fine!^_^

Hi, and thanks again.
I am using the iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Final disk
I have my mac-in-stein working again, as well as I ever did. Right now, I have...
9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel
Intel GMA 950...WORKS DECENTLY (some artifacts...no rotation)
Intel ICHx SATA Drivers...works
Legacy AppleHDA:Sigmatel 9200...does not show in "Sound"
Voodoo Power power management...WORKS DECENTLY (no battery display)
Dual boot time sync by Zephyroth (thank goodness)
IOPCMCIA Family...seems to see card, but do not have driver
Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 (I wish I could use Vanilla kernel!)
PS/2 Keyboard Patch (works)
I then used ToshACPI.kext to activate bluetooth. Haven't tested, but appears to work.
I set up TabletMagic, installed TabletPC driver, and it came up with an error (a kext was not installed correctly). I used kext helper b7, reinstalled JUST the errant kext, and my tablet works!:-d
OK, so now I am in business, for the most part. I want to use Vanilla, but it seems it ain't happening. Why not? I have Intel parts (in fact, most of the Toshiba is like a MacBook).
Also, there is a Texas Instruments PCIxx12 device in my computer that has a OHCI controller, the 5-in-1 Card reader, and the FIREWIRE port! Anyone know what driver to use for this this?!?

I'm actually kind of surprised installation went so smoothly. Had to enter in my resolution (1680x1050x32) during boot up but that's okay. Now on to some issues. When I move windows arounds, it'll start ghosting until I click on the bottom and resize it. Now, I'm going to have to be putting in my old Gigabyte X800XL soon, so I'm going to need to reinstall OSX I'm guessing. What option would you suggest I use because I had taken a peek at the ATI info in the install and I didn't see anything relating to my X800 XL.

I would not try this with unsupported video cards. If you see a driver, you can install it later by looking for the correct folder on the DVD, instead of reinstalling the whole thing. You listed no info about your setup...CPU, chipset, graphics card...

Ahh sorry about the no info. My motherboard is an MSI K8N Neo4, processor is an AMD 64 x2 5500+ and my graphics card is the Gigabyte Radeon X800 XL. I did reinstall OSX with the Radeon in it and it has been working just fine. Even got my Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 working surprisingly. My only issue is that my monitor is stuck on a 1400x1050 resolution instead of the native 1680x1050 and it's buggin' the crap out of me. What steps can I take to remedy this?

Hello,
So sorry for not writing for so long, I was very busy the last few months so I put my Hackintosh project on stand by. Anyways, now I'm back on it so ... let me fill you up on it.
I made some progress from the stage described here:
http://www.infinitemac.com/f36/ipc-osx86-leopard-10-5-6-intel-amd-t1792/page29.html
I manage to boot up from the DVD disk by using an LG SATA DVD RAM (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH20NS15 more exactly).
Then I select the hard drive I want to install on, I select the packages I thing I need and START THE INSTALLATION.
It seems to star well, it says it takes 8 minutes, then 16 ... but, after the progress reaches 25-30% it jumps to 65-70% and gives me the ERROR: "Installation cannot be completed, the media your trying to install from is BROKEN!"
Did anyone have this kind of problems?
Do you have any suggestions?
I've checked the MD5 hash of my image and it is 9ceb2e8daaa182a1071a337ad9b81e3f as it should.
And I burned it on an Estelle DVD-R 8x blank, with Nero Express of Nero 7 Premium package at 6x twice and the same thing.
Should I try a better quality DVD-R (like Verbatim maybe)?
Should I try a slower burn speed?
Should I try a different burning software?
Please help,
I really wanna make this happen! :)

Hi there. I can’t boot with live cd neither with normal setup. I get the errors “Still waiting for root device”, or “AppleNforceATA sata phy reset” or something like that, or “AppleNforceATA found 0″.
Since I’m trying with the DL version I guess I don’t have to download the iPC OSx86 Final 10.5.6 V1.1 PPF (nForce) patch, it’s supposed to be included in the ISO isn’t it?
I guess my error have to do with not being able to turn on AHCI on at the BIOS. I have a Nvidia MCP61 chipset inside a Dell Inspiron 531s system. Is it a way that I can ignore that or something like that?

So i try to install ipc OSx86 ppf5 universal final on Amd phenom 2
it stays on the apple screen and after a while appears a Trouble sign above the apple. I'm on a (laptop) hp pavilion dv6 amd phenom 2 supports sse1, sse 2, sse 3, sse 4a so thats no prob. I can't change my bios because there are only a few options and its the latest version. Please help me, you can send me a pm to. Thanks in advance.
So i tried to install it with option F8 -v -f. and -v but no luck, i see one important messag between al the info saying: upgrade bootloader and then more info and it hangs. I tri with -v rd=disk5s2 then i get the same + at the bottom: still waiting for root device and that up to 3 times then i decided to quit and reboot. So can you help me? How do i upgrade the bootloader and put in the .iso?
You can check my specs in the attachment, ok attachment is to big. See this for de txt file for specs 82.9 kb http://www.mediafire.com/?hynll7rrotrrxe7
-Edit-
So i try with platform=x86pc Still nothing
I try with -x Still nothing
I try with -f i get a kernel panic.
How do i update de bootloader to 2.1? I think my system is to advanced or something, i don't know :-p Anyway i have to update it but where can i find the bootloader in de iso? Or is there a version with an updated bootloader?
Please respond fast..
Thnx.
