View Full Version : ATI mobility x1600 big problems
This is my first post on this forum so welcome to everybody.
My ATI x1600 video card is problem which I can't solve by only reading this or insanelymac forum.
After instalation like most I've got 1024x768 res but I've got problem when I move window (look picture1) or scroll something. I've tried to install with Natit.kext or ATIinject way but after it GUI not loads (screen only blinks, system loads farther but I only can see booting white strings.) Anybody got this card working on Zephyroths rev 1?
Any ideas?
My specs:
Benq P52eg
Sempron 3400 (32bit SSE2,SSE3)
ATI SB450, RX485
ALC262 audio
ATI x1600 mobility 256MB
Small update: I checked on safe mode and it seems that this problem doesn't appear there, so maybe I've got same unnecessary kexts which are doing bad job?

WOW! Great error! Reminds me on the times when I had to text in the windows ;) What has your card for a device ID? Check in System Profiler.
My x1600 mobility: device id: 0x71c5, vendor: 0x1002
small update again: rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/ATI* solved bad scrolling and moving.
I think I know what is the problem. I've made a small experiment. I put modified kexts with ATIinject and like it was before screen only blinks once, and system loads further. I see nothing but boot stripes but I've made screenshot, and then reboot, delete all ATI kext, login and I've got Picture on my desktop which is in res 1280x1024 and in my laptop should be 1280x800, so I think is the reason why screen only blinks. How can I change resolution? "Graphical Mode"="1280x800x32" at boot not works :(

Gng, i own BenQ P52 laptop as well...have the same problem - got rid of scrolling problems, but still cant get proper resolution. Could You please post Your kext which u are using now ? I think we could use the same.
And by the way - did You get your audio card working on headphones output ? Cause mine works only with laptop`s speakers.

Nobody knows how to change that resolution? I tried to edit com.apple.Boot.plist but then darwin stops load. Maybe I can use a VNC client? Which vnc will work on osx and linux? Any other ideas?
Ok after install kexts i connect with VNC to see what is wrong, and then I realized that : (picture). Hmm why is not detect my interior monitor? I've put EDID (taken in windows XP by Phoenix) into ATIinject.kext. Any ideas? My edid:

I was thinking about it and maybe I should change bios in my graphic card? Or try some older osx (tiger ). What do you think about it?
It looks like I've got bad luck. I tried OSX 10.4.8 by Jas and the same thing, screen blink and thats all. Is it possible that Phoenix gave me wrong edid? Anyone on this forum got this card workinkg?
