You disk probably has a read error. Burn a fresh copy or check the disk for any scratches/dust and try again. Happened to me once I remember. Nothing to really be concerned about "for now."

I still have this strange USB Problem with my ECS GeForce6100SM-M2 (V1.0A) and Zephyroths 10.5.2 Rev.1. Sometimes I can boot without any problem, sometimes I can't (Kernel Panic becuase of appleUSBIO soemthing; I will post the correct message as soon as possible.) It seemed to me that there is a different behavior when I connect another USB Keyboard. I thought of leaving Keyboard and Mouse on ps/2 ports but then they are not recognized and I am just not able to get ps/2 to work. Please help.

I can't find a rev.2 iso?! Is there one out there? Wich one to prefer? I know the AMD Installtion is somewhat more complicated than an Intel Installation. There are a lot of Instructions out there how to Install Zephyroths. Can someone point me to the most usefull to start with?

Cheers

W.

Hello everyone. Need help. Ive tried a few different OSx86's to no avail. Zephyroth 10.5.1 will not read SATA so no luck there. Leo4All v3 gets to about where it says BSM Auditing and then goes into a reboot cycle. Specs are:

AMD Phenom 9600 CPU
Biostar A770+ MB
3 gigs PC2-6400 Ram
ATI HD 2600 Pro Video
Sound Blaster Audigy Sound
Seagate 500 gig HD- Vista
Seagate 360 gig HD- Debian Etch
Seagate 160 gig HD- Backup Images of other Drives

Intention is to install OSx86 over Debian, cuz I can reinstall it as a dual boot later. but I havent even been able to make it that far. Ive read through almost every forum and tried everything. Zephiroths Rev. 2 is downloading now. hope to have some luck there. Anyway if theres anyone with similar haedware who can tell me how they got theirs going it would be greatly appreciated.

@Dalton63841

Your board has a SB600 chipset which is supported and you shouldn't have problems with it, i have the same southbridge controller and it works just great. I am not sure if 10.5.1 can recognize sata hdd if you don't set transfer type to sata-ahci in BIOS, so dont trust me on that really cant remember, but i am sure 10.5.2 rev.2 will recognize your hdd no matter if its set to native ide or sata->ahci in bios. You would have to include sb600 driver in installation so it can be installed into your system so you can boot later to it if you were previously in native ide mode.

So for 10.5.1, try to set your BIOS (its somewhere in integrated peripherals, Ide controllers..) to SATA->AHCI mode. Boot like that with dvd and the installer has to see your hdd and you can install to it.

How about new release?
maybe 10.5.3?

Many of the guys are running 10.5.3. It's done by updating from 10.5.1 or 10.5.2.

+1 what milanca said.

Zeph's Software Update has a high success rate, even higher if you're using EFI gfx strings beforehand.

It's probably best that you read this (http://www.infinitemac.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=1044&page=1) thread through first.

Hi,

I am a newbie to the OSX86 world and want to dual boot it along with my Windows XP. My current specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ processor
ASRock ALiveNF5-eSATA2+ R3.0 motherboard
Nvidia nForce 520 chipset
2GB of DDR2 Ram
Nvidia GeForce 6600 graphics card
2x Maxtor 6L200M0 189GB Sata HDD
Creative Audigy 2 Platinum soundcard

I have downloaded the Kalyway 10.5.2 OSX and burned it to a DVD as this was recommended on a few websites as a good/stable operating system for AMD PC's. I am not sure if it this is the best one as I have seen lots of other versions mentioned and I am also not sure whether it will install ok on my Sata hard drive. Could someone please tell me what would be the ideal OSX version to get for my specs and if it will be ok to install as a dual boot on my Sata hard drive. I currently have XP installed so I know I would have to partition my drive and I have downloaded Partition Magic 8 but I am not too sure how to do this.

I have previously tried to install OSX but I messed up a lot as I forgot to select the customize option and choose which parts I wanted to install (I also am not too sure what to select but I would imagine I just install anything that matches my PC's specs like the AMD stuff or nVidia stuff).

Any help would be greatly I appreciated.

You should be able to try any intel release such as Leo4all, Kalyway, Iatkos, JaS etc. Gigabyte boards are pretty compatible.

I've not heard of your gfx card before so good luck with that :)

As Voyn1x told you, gigabyte boards are pretty good for OSX. A couple of years ago i had FireGL Z1, pretty obsolete now but at the time it was hell of a workstation graphic card. I was using it with 3dsmax and maya. You should find its radeon chipset equivalent and i'm sure it will work fine. There are FireGL chipset cards run on macs so it will work, np about that. What exactly is your board's name?On many of them you can install from retail mac os x dvd, 10.5 or 10.5.1, and run vanilla, unmodified apple kernel.

Thanks in advance.

as far as i know - it won`t work. for phenom quad core - try LawlessPPC Leopard 10.5.4 dvd, it`s confirmed to work on phenom systems, and it`s based on Zephy`s release.

Hi There,

Iīm tired of installing OSX but I wont give up :) It works pretty fine but Iīve got Problems to get my Grafic Card and S-ATA installed. Thatīs my Sys:

CPU: Intel E6320 775 -works
Mobo: Asrock 4Core Dual SATA
SATA - not installed
Chipset: VIA PT 880 Pro -works
LAN: Realtek VIA PHY VT6103 -some troubles but I just installed another Card which works

Grafic: Sparkle GeForce 6600 GT -works with 1024x748, no Quartz and that other Thing

I used Kalyway and Leo4all. I donīt know where to get the Drivers I need for the GeForce and which I should use. Also it would be cool SATA would work. The Ethernet Problem is not a big Deal.

Some Suggestions, Links, Whatever?

Thank you!

According to the HCL you may need to append the SATA device and vendor id 0x73721106 into the AppleVIAATA.kext for SATA to work on an Asrock 4CoreDual board.

Hi all,

So i got OSX installed without any problems om my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2035. Now I have a couple of things that wont work, here is my hardware:

Audio - In windows it said that i got the AC97 soundcard and it said in the install notes that leo4all supports the card, but in about this mac it says: "No Built-in audio"

Graphics - I think the cards name is VIA UniChrome Pro. When i get in to osx the only resolution i can choose is 1024x768, which naturally looks pretty bad on a widescreen 1280x800 screen. I found on a linux site a guy who got the grapics card working using the following info in xorg.conf, can something similar be used in osx?

Section "Device"
Identifier "VIA Chrome9 HC"
Driver "vesa"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Option "ActiveDevice" "LCD,CRT"
Option "NoDDCValue" "true"
EndSection

So if i understand correctly i need to install kext files for the cards, but where do i find them and how do i install? Thanks for any help in this!

@ jaawa - make sure you customize your install so your hardware will work. (except for the via unichrome graphics, which I have YET to come across a solution for)...

anyways, to save you some trouble I went and dug the install package up from the DVD...

Yes! thats the way it is. i recommend Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI.iso (worked for me)
you can find the .iso on interenet (you know where)

now i have a old fujitsu siemens amilo a 1630 too, that i thought i might try it has the following specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3400+
AUDIO: Realtek AC97 - ALC655
CHIPSET: SIS 755 + SIS SB 963L
GRAPHICS: ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700
ETHERNET: SiS 900 Fast Ethernet
WIRELESS:
Broadcom Wireless LAN 802.11b / 802.11g or
Gemtek WMIR-103G (RaLink) Wireless LAN 802.11b / 802.11

Will i have any luck getting this rig up and running leo? In that case, should i use leo4all?

before you do this start the boot again except type -v in to see what the codes are actually saying when it hangs for the time.

but next time you install it, install the ALC 888 sound card drivers, install zeph's universal nvidia installer (link extracted for reason below... PM for link) and also install the Nvinject 0.2.1 drivers which can be found here (http://nvinject.free.fr/files/Latest_NVinject.0.2.1.zip) that is what i would do to start with anyway, i dont know what drivers you would need for your motherboard, you will have to look around to find out :) thats all i can help you with at the moment

hello people :D

Well I've tried searching google and the forums of Infinite Mac etc but I have a few questions.

my computer: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq nx6325 (EY345EA#ABU)

CPU: AMD mobile Sempron 3400+ (1.8GHz :p)
Graphics card: CPU-Z says ATI radeon Xpress 200 but i'm sure it's a 1150?
Hard drive: Fujitsu MHV2060BH PL ATA device
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard 30B0 KBC Version 40.15
Audio: ADI SoundMAX HD
Bios: F.02
SSE3
I tried installing Leopard with a friends kalyway 10.5.2, It went well but with 7 minutes it continuely fails it just freezes at the the same time left each installation. Does anybody no why? and if there is a solution?
I heard that it may be because I need an an ethernet plugged in but that doesn't work but my Broadcom wifi does.

I will try to install Zephyroth's distro but which one should i use? there seems to be a rev 1 and rev 2 what's the difference ?

thanks guys.

I just managed to install tiger using the JaS distro, is there a way here I can keep all my driver, etc for. Leopard?

Hello all,

I would like to install OS X on my Athlon system. My Hardware is the following:

MB: ASRock 939Dual-VSTA
Athlon 3000+
Chipset:
Northbridge: ULi M1695
Southbridge: ULi M1567
Gfx: GForce 2ti (AGP)
DVD and HDD at IDE

I tried a Leo4All DVD ( don't know which version), but it hang in the boot screen.

Is it possible to install on my hardware and if so, which distri is the best for me.

Thanks for now,

you need to try the v3 of Leo4All. I've seen this chipset talked about before and thats the distro used. see this thread over at InsanelyMac: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=24047&hl=

They refer to Tiger in the beginning but it has been found to work with Leopard as well.

Hi, new Leo4All adopter and I've gotten version 4.1.1 up and mostly running. The only crucial issue is getting ethernet going - it works fine in WinXP 64. Otherwise, 10.5.4 works fine on dual AMD processors.

I have an M2N-SLI motherboard and the manual is frustratingly unclear about the driver I'm looking for. It lists nVidia nForce 560 SLI MCP built-in Gigabit MAC with external PHY. I can't recall how to read the id for the ethernet or I would.

I tried all the nForce drivers for ethernet on the DVD to no avail and also the one over at InsanelyMac (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=12933&start=700) referenced here but no dice. Actually, the system log mentioned above identifies the card but then bails with the error, "Could not find valid PHY". So I'm guessing, although it is an nForce4 board, this particular LAN thingie is not supported? Thought I'd ask here before posting over there in case this is a common issue.

I'll try a fresh install (again - I believe 4.1.1 is the latest for AMD processors?) and then, if that fails, *just* installing *only* the above-linked driver but I have little faith given the above error.

Thanks for any hints!

nfoav8or
10-26-2008, 07:52 AM
@ blue_brian - you don't need to do fresh installs to get these from the DVD. get a copy of MainMenu (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/17111/mainmenu) and after you place it in the applications folder, run it and from the drop-down menu, select "Finder"->"Show Invisibles" then open your DVD and go to /System/Installation/Packages/ to find the right install packages for you. This is good if you like a certain distro but it doesn't include certain files, because then you can load a different distro and get the files you need.

Hope this helps.

P.S. I use PCWiz's "OSx86 Tools Utility" and select "view PCI Device/Vendor ID"... when looking at it, for example, my ethernet is:Bridge [0680]: nVidia Corporation MCP61 Ethernet [10de:03ef]
so my Device ID is "0x03ef10de"... make sense?

Could someone post the required patches, and a complete step-by-step installation guide for Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 Motherboard.

The complete configuration would be GA-P35-DS4 Mobo, E7200 C2D, 2GB Transcend RAM, Sony 16x DVD-RW (IDE), 320GB of HDD space free, all for Leopard (I dunno how to partition, so that too please).

@ blue_brian - you don't need to do fresh installs to get these from the DVD....

Yes, I have done that and installed a lot of things from the DVD via separate package installers. So many that I think a reinstall may be needed to avoid conflicts. PS As of Leo 4.1.1, this directory structure is not hidden at all (or the Leo installer installs it for me).

But the OSx86 Utility is cool (I'm behind on the non-terminal ways to get this info). The ethernet controller is listed as an nVidia Corp CK804 Ethernet Controller [10de:0057] (rev f3). So not on the supported list for that driver I linked to. Boo.

So ... barring any other ideas, what's the most compatible ethernet PCI 2.2 or PCIe card I can get (all USB ports in use)? Most of what I read here is about on-board ethernet so I thought I'd just ask.

Now I've installed Leo4All V3. I put it on a blank hdd (primary slave). After install I get "still waiting for root device".
I followed the steps posted here:
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=130955
And after that it boots up. But after another reboot, I get again "still waiting...".The workaround is to boot every time with -f. Did I something wrong?

The next problem is my graphic card. There seems to be no kext in leo4all. So I can only view 1024x768. Is there anywhere a kext this card (see above), so that I can use 1280x1024?

I tried to activate german language. Many things are now in german. But not all, e.g. the finder. Is not the complete language installed?

And last, I have now 10.5.2. How can I update to 10.5.5?

Thanks,

nfoav8or

boot with "-f -s" then when it starts in single user mode type:/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/
rm -Rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
reboot

this will cause your machine to reboot and now it will force load the Extensions folder and recreate your Extensions.mkext file automatically.

I have seen AGP graphics working out there, but I'll have to do some more digging to remember where I can get the files from for you.

Most people miss the customizing button because they are too excited to use OS X on their first time installing.

This is a little more of the info we would need to help you out:
http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.aspx?sku=320520&view=detailed#ProductTabs

The ALC883 is supported in the installer. you don't need to reinstall though. Simply use MainMenu from Macupdate.com (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/17111/mainmenu) to enable "Show Hidden Files" under the Finder section of the drop-down. Then navigate to the Install DVD and look in the System/Installation/Packages/ folder for the updates you need to enable your computer to work properly again.

For the network issue... just reset it back to manual in the System Preferences -> Network.

Don't forget to "Hide Hidden Files" again via mainmenu.

make sure you don't just assign an IP... you also need to set the subnet mask (usually just 255.255.255.0) and the router. Also, for the DNS servers I use the same IP address as my router and make sure you set the DNS domain to point to your ISP provider.

Its a MSI Mega Barebone 180

Specs are as following:

Chipset:nVIDIA nFORCE2 (Crush 18G) + MCP2T
Audio: AC'97 Codec integrated in Realtek650
Graphics: Integrated in nFORCE2(AGP 8X) (there is also an extra agp port, so i can change this if necessary)
