Does anyone know if there are NAS out there compatible with Timecapsule? I find 500 euro quite expensive for a simple 1TB NAS, but in order to work with Time Machine, it needs to be compatible. Any ideas? Brands? Types?

Netgear ReadyNAS family claims to be Time Machine compatible. I haven't tried yet on my ReadyNAS NV. I'm still a n00b to Leopard.

does it really have to be NAS ? USB external drives are much cheaper and they all work great with Time Machine. I`d suggest you to get one. If it must be NAS well, i have no idea about them.

Or you can make a dirt cheap Atom rig with a bunch of 1TB SATAs and be set for life...

Taisto, the nice thing about a NAS is it is a set-it-and-forget-it thing. If you use a USB drive (which I have), you need to plug it in. You don't always sit at the same place the drive is (I use a laptop), and with a NAS Time Capsule, once you are booted and on the network, the backups happen automagically without any need for user intervention.

Well you have a point in this, definitely more usefull. but well, the price is bigger aswell. Anyway, if you`ll find anything good and more or less cheap, post it would you ? Ill take a look ( am going to buy a backup drive aswell so maybe ill get nas too instead of usb one )
