Well I figure as my first post here, I would do a kind of a log of my install, maybe help others with there installs as they learn from my (many) mistakes ;)

If this is in the wrong area please feel free to move it.

Also any advice I will be more than happy to listen to....Pretty please.

To start.

I am using my old home rig as the test subject, a gateway GT5012,

This runs a D820 proc,3 gigs of ram, a lite on DVD burner and a WD2500 drive

So the first thing I learn is that the drive has to be formatted, it did have XP pro on it, so reformat it to FAT32....and try and load a copy of iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5

Well this is interesting, I am getting a black screen with a courser, which then turns into an E , any ideas ?

I am now getting a hold of a different version as well, though this may take a couple of days.

Any ideas on the hang up ?

Wow has it really been a month, where does the time go.

Anyways now that work has calmed down a little.

Today I tried installing 3 different versions of osx86

iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5
iPC_OSx86_10_5_6_Universal_PPF5_Final
Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd

Now the good side...rather than just having the blinking cursor in the top left hand corner I got a message.

That would be the bad side....no bootable device ?

Where am I going wrong here as I am scratching my head, any help would be great.

are you preparing the drive from the osx disk utility on the dvd? Because in fat32 this drive wont conform to what osx wants. You need to get it to the installer parts then go to the menu at the top an select disk utility to partition and format the drive. Then install dont forget to click customise to select drivers etc
