I have an HP Pavilion n1330n here, would like to try iPC 10.5.6 on it. The problem is that when I boot from the DVD I get to waiting for root device. I have 2 SATA hard drives, but not seeing them. Any one have the same controller and a way to get it working. I saw something posted about setting the BIOS to AHCI but not sure how to do it. thanks for any help you can pass along.

Hi,

You'll have to set Ide to ahci mode to be able to boot from dvd. Not many laptops have the option to change hdd modes, so if you can;t change to ahci you'll have to inject the drivers into dvd installation, re-burn, then install.. Much harder way, i know.

Hey, i have the same chipset as you. Try to install iPC beta with PPF1 and PPF2 applied. After that it should work - you`ll sometimes get the waiting for root problem ( sometimes it`s stuck, sometimes it goes - i dunno why ), just try to boot few times untill it goes on. Worked here.

HP Pavilion n1330n is a desktop PC. I think the problem is that it does not see or find the HHD to write too. In the BIOS the main screen shows First channel as none [No floppy disk] Second channel DVDW/CD master, DVD/CD slave Third channel SATA HHD master and Forth channel SATA HDD slave. The boot screen is set to boot from 1st DVDW/cd and second to Master SATA HHD. So to get this to work am I going to have to install a third HHD on the IDE bus? I don't see any ACHI selection. the Local Bus IDE adapter is set as Both. the other choices are Diabled Primary, Secondary. THX for any help you can pass along.

You were looking at boot order section. Look in 'Integrated Peripherals' or something like that in your BIOS to change IDE -> Sata AHCI mode.

I don't have that setting in the BIOS. I tried PPF1 and 2 on the iPC beta copy twice, burned 2 different copies. I have iPC finial same problem. Tried Leo4all, Kayaways, iDenub, came up looking for the VIAATI SATA bus. SO may be it just not ment to be, but I will keep trying. Heres some screen shots.
