Sorry if this reads a little long, but I'm just trying to find the best resources for my configuration.

I've been doing my research for the possibility of installing OSX on my hardware for a while now and am still quite confused as to it's supported level. Since by design motherboards are standardized configurations (leaving out video card from this discussion for the time being) and generally some motherboard's are more popular than others, it would seem that once distro X with kext's X have been installed on motherboard X, and appears to be up and running stably, would it be safe to say that listing Distro X with Kext's X works with Motherboard X would make for a good resource for the next OSX enthusiast with Motherboard X to know. Something that comes to mind is Coreboot.org's “Supported Motherboards” page which is quite useful, obviously it's a resource for something entirely different, but a good example of something I was interested in finding.

My question is, has this type of “Hardware \ Disto \ Kext” lists been made available somewhere? I know the core tenet for building a Hackintosh PC appears to be “read, read, read” but I've been combing the forums for users experiences on hardware like mine and just haven't found that ever elusive post “if you have Motherboard X, use Distro X with Kext's X” that matches my configuration. Maybe I haven't been looking in the right places or maybe my current hardware is just too unsupported. Thanks for your help :)

FYI, I have an ASUS A8N32SLI, AMD 64 X2 4200+, 4GB, NVIDIA 7800GTX

I dont really know about the motherboards cause i use mobile computers for a long time, but take a look here :

http://www.osx86library.com/hardware/browse.php

They have 83 motherboards listed with kexts to download. Maybe it`ll help you somehow.

Thanks Taisto and Puttabong, these look like good places to start. Not sure how I missed them before. :(

Is your board an A8N-32 SLI Deluxe? If so, Leo4All will be fine for this. But this is only 10.5.2.

I would recommend the iPC 10.5.6 Double Layer-Image. It has a lot of problems, but I have a complete set of files which have to be replaced. Copy the contents of on an 8 GB USB stick. I don't know if it's working if the filesystem is FAT32-based. An installation of iPC Server from USB takes only about 10 minutes :D What do you have 4 a gfx card?

Before you begin with installing, take a look at my guide (http://www.infinitemac.com/f19/guide-creating-a-very-safe-os-x-system-t1234/) for a nearly fail-safe boot system.

P.S.: Great Nickname!

Hey naquaada, wow thanks, I was just reading some of your other posts. My card is an GForce 7800 GTX, 512 MB. Thanks for the link to the guide, I'm getting iPC DL right now and the files would be very helpful, thank you. :)
