Hi everybody,
I spent a lot of time to find a solution to my problem. No response at time...
Recently, I downloaded the iPC distrib to get an Hackintosh. My motherboard is a Gigabyte P35-DS3R with the latest BIOS (F13C) and AHCI activated
http://www.fredchristian.info/hackintosh/kp/1.JPG
I boot from my DVD freshly burned (burn at 2x), Darwin come
http://www.fredchristian.info/hackintosh/kp/4.JPG
and I put the -v parameter for verbose mode and... Kernel Panic...
http://www.fredchristian.info/hackintosh/kp/6.JPG
http://www.fredchristian.info/hackintosh/kp/7.JPG
I don't understand where is the trouble. Why HFS detect a runtime corruption ?
My computer configuration :
Intel C2D E6550
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R with AHCI activated and latest BIOS upgrade
2x 1Go RAM DDR-II PC6400 Corsair Twin2X
GeForce 8600GTS 256Mo
Asus optical drive/burner in SATA
HDD for Hackintosh : Maxtor 120Go SATA + Maxtor 120Go IDE.
HDD for Windows : Maxtor 250Go SATA + Seagate 250Go SATA
On the boot, only the Maxtor 120Go SATA is plugged, on the JMicron SATA port (violet).
I've missed something ?
Thanks for your help,
Fred

Hi and thanks for your suggestion, so
ODD > violet, HDD > orange > same KP
ODD > violet, HDD > violet > same KP
ODD > orange, HDD > orange > same KP
ODD > orange, HDD > violet > same KP
and AHCI still activated in my BIOS config. With "vanilla" parameters, the boot screen prompt me to reboot the computer.
Something is wrong with my ISO ? 'cause I burned it twice, same result...
Thanks.

what's the full name of the iso file you've downloaded?
(it's vald the same mobo guy)

if you have external USB ODD try to use it .... if the same problem comes, you have the bad ISO...we have similar system and i just plugged my external ODD to install my iPC 10.5.6 with vanilla Darwin kernel 9.6.0......but no AHCI :D

Hi Vlad, you're anywhere ;)
It's the iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 (Final).iso (4.29Go). The checksum of this iso isn't the same of the checksum in the readme file...

Hi Wayang,
I'll try this tonight. I doesn't have an external ODD, but i've an adapter to plug any drive to USB. I hope will work ;)

Hey Fred,
I just wanted you to know that i booted into the install process, didn't do anything with the BIOS settings.. although i don't want to install it with a junk graph card (7100 GS) i have until they give mine back... :/
So I guess it has to be something with the dvd you burned..
Other people on other forums told me that our mobo works perfectly with osx86, and i don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with Intel c2d...
anyway, good luck on the quest ;)

Hi Vlad,
I tested the suggestion of Wayang, I plugged my ODD in USB with an adaptater, no change > KP again and again, AHCI activated or not, voodoo or vanilla kernel.
So you're probably right, my ISO seems corrupted :-| I must re-DL it, with my slow connexion speed (512kbps), I'm really happy...
But I don't remember where I downloaded it (tpb, mininova, demonoid, ... ?). Could you tell me where you have find your ISO ?
Thanks for your support in my quest ! ;)

Well i used a specific search engine to find it. Just type in the full name and youll see it somewhere on top of the list. Its 4.3 gb i think. I dont remember if the tracker was pb or dmnd..
i didnt check the checksum but it worked for me

Hi Vlad,
So after 26h later (512kpbs connexion, I hate you) to re-DL the ISO, the boot works correctly. My previously ISO was really corrupted.
Now it's time for me to install Leopard on my computer :)
It's an another quest !
Thanks for your support both !
I hope to help you back !

Hi,
No prob, if I can help, I do it ;)
Installation process is in progress, it's long (18min to wait again, so long as a Windows installation :D)
I hope too I have selected the good options for installation. What's the prob with your 8800GTS ?

i've installed internet explorer 8 beta release candidate, wanted to see how it works (on vista64) and it messed up the grap.card on restarting.. i have no clue how that could have happened..
on starting up, it was giving me the "dumping physical memory" BSOD..
and a buzzing sound when i used programs while i was listening to music..
when i removed the driver..the problems stopped..but cant use the card without drivers.. tried all sorts of drivers..
replacing the card made the problem go away... so im waiting to get a new one..
so i suggest never to download stupid microsoft beta programs.. hope osx86 will help me on this .. :D

One rule : never, never, never try a MS beta software on your system. Since IE7 beta, i try all beta shit in a virtual machine for more security :D
Osx boot correctly on my computer. But there are already a trouble, I have changed my screen resolution (original : 1360x768) to 1440x900 and... now I have a lil' pretty blue screen, no desktop, no mouse pointer :-/ Gosh, isn't easy. I must boot with -x parameters now.
No sound too. No network too (no ethernet, no wireless with my linksys wmp54g).
This night seems veryyyy long

my resolution is 1680x1050... where did you change your res?
since i have a wide screen, it didn't automaticly set the res (while installing)
did you choose ALC889A driver for audio ?
Realtek R1000 for ethernet
?
h4mzt3r
03-03-2009, 09:08 PM
I change my resolution into the system preference menu, default is 1360x768 on my system and it's very ugly...
For drivers :
For audio : ALC888A driver.
For Ethernet : Realtek R1000.
For Wireless (Linksys WMP54G) : RALINK (this after 2500USB or something else)
Nothing works :-/ And I discover that FrontRow doesn't work too 'cause my graphical card doesn't support it (same for some screensavers).
Now, the good question is : how to change my drivers ? :'(

OSx86 install on a GA-P35-DS3R : Second round !
I maked a new fresh install 'cause I wasted a lot of time to find a solution to fix my screen resolution problem. Oh, of course, I could make that directly via the CD under OSX but at 75%, an error occured. Nice. Funny. Really. Be cool, don't be crazy. Relaaaax.
So, what's new ?
Sound drivers : alc888a or azalia, it's the same : doesn't work.
Ethernet : Realtek R1000 but I see that the connection "unplug" my HomePlug (netgear x102) of his network. I'll test without HomePlug tomorrow, with a RJ45 plugged directly from my computer to my DSL modem.
Wireless : Ralink or Broadcom. My Linksys WMP54G is a lil' piece of s..t ! Some models have a Ralink chipset, another have a Broadcom chipset... In case, she's not in the hardware panel of OSX (no PCI card connected).
Graphic card : nvinjector 256 and nvinjector, both recognize my vga card (nvidia geforce 8600gts), but some application like FrontRow, screensaver, etc... told me that my graphic card isn't supported. Strange !
Well, I definitively loose the battle this night, cafeine is perhaps my best friend but I need to sleep a lil' bit. Tomorrow is an another day ^_^

hi h4mzt3r...glad to hear you run in osx.... :)
you must have QE and CI enabled at your graphic card...try this driver (http://www.fileqube.com/shared/kIJhBN99908)....and let the montor run in it's native res.....:D

Hi Wayang,
I forgot to tell you, but I realised yesterday that my KVM could be a source of problem. It's the cause of my 1360x768 resolution. Now my screen is natively to 1440x900 but I'm afraid to make any change ^_^
For the QE/CI, I don't know what is it, never hear before, so thanks for the advise. Everyday come with a lot of surprise :-d

Hi Wayang and Vlad,
I installed QE/CI drivers and my graphic card works greats. Ethernet drivers was good too, I'm actually on Safari browser.
I didn't find an issue for my wireless card or sound output (actually I use the Azalia driver), but I don't left my search :-/
My keyboard layout seems strange : French, French numerical or Belgian layout it's the same. Perhaps OSX need a logout to make change ? I'll test it later.
See ya later for new episode :D

Good news dude, specially for you Vlad,
I've find here (http://pcwizcomputer.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=105&Itemid=48) and here (http://macciti.com/gigabyte-gap35ds3pds3lds3rds4-mac-os-x86-1054-chameleon-efi-v1011) a solution for drivers and some another fixes (like restart/shutdown), just for the GA-P35-DSXX series.
You download just this file (http://www.mediafire.com/?1bg5o1jxquc)
Now, I have sound on my OSx86 :)
I'm searching again a solution for my wireless card. My quest is in the good way!
See ya!

hey Fred,
damn i was hoping everything wold work out of the box...
here are some links i've found for our mobo
for audio there is a control center
http://www.infinitemac.com/f39/gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3x-control-center-t1316/
and this guy uses almost the same config
http://rogersmj.com/2008/03/26/goodbye-imachello-hackintosh/
i hope QE/CI drivers are good for 8800GT 512 (cuz thats the one i have) :T

03-05-2009, 08:15 AM
Hi Vlad,
I have seen the Gigabyte Control Center, I putted a link in my previous reply for that ;)
It's very usefull, it contains all drivers needed for our mobo. I suggest you to install the shutdown and reboob fix.
For QE/CI, the drivers works for all nVidia card, I guess it's just an OpenGL layout.
My wireless card is definitively a piece of sh#t, some card have a broadcom chipset, another have a Ralink chipset. My card is a Ralink, but the RT61 drivers for OSX 10.5.x doesn't work on my system. Many people have problems with this card, so I guess I have loose this battle.
I hope you receive quickly your graphic card 'cause OSX is very very nice, more than Windows ^_^

hey Fred,
i just bought 9800gt, and installed osx86 but i can't get audio to work, even with the control center..
restart didn't work, or shut down even...
maybe i picked up wrong drivers..
could you tell me what drivers did you choose while installing ?
thnx!

Hi Vlad,
During install process, I choosed the Azalia driver for audio. Doesn't work on Mac OSX. But after, I've installed the Gigabyte Control Center and activated the sound driver.
After reboot, go to system preference > audio > select internal speaker. It's works great for me ! So I hope it work too for you ! ;)
