Hi all

Having a few issues with installing iPC on a K9A2 CF based system. When booting from the CD, I hit F8, and I supply boot parameters of -v -f mach_kernel.voodoo.

It goes through all of the verbose stuff, then the screen goes grey, with the spinning beachball in the top left corner (Moves with the mouse), and there it sits, forever. How do I get past this?

My system:

K9A2 CF Mobo
790X/SB600 chipset
ALC888 Audio
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
8GB DDR2 800 RAM
NVidia 8500GT (Asus EN8500GT)

Drives
IDE DVD Rom
SATA HDD

Input
PS/2 Keyboard
PS/2 Mouse

Install media
iPC_OSx86_10.5.6.iso patched in order from PPF1 to PPF5

I experience it the same problem, the solution is to boot with -x flag, and than you get into the system at the first boot. If you install Voodoo Kernel, u must install also the SeatBelt Kext in the installation menu. You'll find it in the fix folder at the installation.
Follow the instruction to install, i use the same motherboard, my system is :
MSI K9A2-CF
AMD Athlon Black Edition 7750, stable on 3,1Ghz
AData Extreme 800, stable 920, 8 G, up to 1066
HD Samsung Spin Point 750Gb, 7200rpm, 32Mb Cache
Nvidia 9800 GTX+
If problem continues, please contact me, i had exactely the same problem with installation.
And btw, don't patch anything, the system on dvd works flawlessly if you install it corectly.
Cheers

What should be selected from the customise installation option?

I am using a K9A2 CF - phenom 9750 also.

I tried installing with vodoo kernal, seatbelt and a few other fixes and did the -f flag on first boot however this gave me a black screen then on 2nd boot with no flags it just gets to the apple logo loading screen then gets a cross through it ... ??

I am not sure what extra fixes etc should be applied. i understand the Sb chipset, alc888 and the R1000 kexts are checked but what else?

ok got it working.
I had to check under alternative bootloaders: Chameleon with SMBIOS/DSDT. Choosing nvinject locked the system up also :S ? so i used an efi string instead = works like a charm now. Seemed to run as smooth as my retail DS3L install.

However I didnt check any fixes and patches other than seatbelt and PS/2. Should i install any of them e.g. USB mount fix, shutdown/restart fix, UUID error fix etc ... ??

Have you guys ran into any errors yet? It seems to be running fine atm with a few applications loaded up.
