Tell us what hardware it has so we could tell anything. Need to know at least cpu, chipset, gfx card.

Can you simply load OS X on the Aspire? Or does this require a hack?

Any ideas on how to get the drivers to work?

thanks,

Rangerdon

I have iatkos v7 installed almost no issues. Only complication was I had to buy a dell 1505 wifi card which really wasn't that bad. Other than that have had no issues with OS X runs just as good if not better than a macbook pro. If you have any questions about drivers just reply to this post

Hi Stan,

How did you able to install the iatkos v7 on Aspire 4730z I need help. I have the same model and for a week i was trying to install iatkos_v7 and I could not get the installer to run.

The first attempt I tried I was getting "still waiting for root device" errors but I got pass that error using this boot flags rd=disk0. Right now I have CPU kernel Vodoo panic when using that boot flag rd=disk0 it says nfs_boot failed..

I am assuming that nfs is for network file system so I turned off the network boot on the bios but still got the same error.

what's your boot parameter when you installed the iatkos_v7 can you let me know please.

anyone please help.

dude . the reason ur getting waiting for boot is because u haven't installed the right chipset drivers. . also . i been able to get every thing up and running with vanilla kernel

Video intel 4500 -> with x4500 patch got Native resolution but no QE
sound -> Voodoo HDA
Battery -> AcpiBatteryManagement
Wifi -> Replaced wifi card
webcam - > installed but wont work as the video drivers dont install
Touch pad -> i am not able to get voodoo ps2 to work . if any one can help let me know

the only issue i have is the laptop shuts off in random in an hour even after been plugged into power supply. I have installed osx on a lot of laptops never had this issue .

This does not happen in vista.

Thanks in advance if any one can help me :(......

fixed the random shutting off issue. It was a bios update that fixed this. This was related to the cpu fan shutting off when loading osx.

the only thing left now is the touch pad . has any one got that to work ?

I got the Touchpad working with voodoo ps2 kext. I did try the ps2/trackpad kext but did not allow for adjusting mouse track speed.

I switch wifi cards to the dell 1550. I still have some pci things not working. and no Quartz Extreme.

Let me know if this helps.
