Hello, im very new to the OSX86 scene.. have had a ibook for awhile and wanted to use OSX as a primary OS.. but im running into issues :(
Currently trying distro -> iDeneb 10.5.6
Mobo ~ XFX nForce 750a AM2+ 1066 Mhz DDR2 8GB SLI - MDA72P7509
Processor ~ AMD Phenom X4 9550
Ram ~ 4GB DDR2 800
HDD ~ 1x 700 GB SATA (Win XP 64) 1x 80 GB (Primary) IDE (Mac OSX) 1x DVD Burner (Secondary) IDE
Grphx - Evga e-Geforce 9800 GTX
Bios - American MegaTrends
Sound - Azalia
Network - Something nForce?
Well ive gone through the grueling process of installing several times, before I tried
just straight through without customizeing and all I got was a grey screen that went no where.. Second time around I searched around forums over the web, and found something about the kernel for sse3 and the amd patch, aswell as something for the ram.. but now I get "Still waiting for root device" when I use -v (Without -v it just shows a cross on the grey screen above the loading icon).. Atm im trying from scratch again.. thinking it may be something wrong with the partition, I havent tried the cable select thing yet.. but I doubt its that because ive toyed with that already.. (Also ive disabled lan and audio in the bios)
Any help would be appreciated, the installs are long and grueling and its driveing me insane :-X

Try changing the Hardrive setup to ahci in the bios then install thats how i got past that problem myself. Also i used xxx 10.5.6 and that is working great.

Kalyway = Reboots, Doesnt even go into Install Screen
xXx = Reboots, I get a Kernel Panic
Lawless = Doesnt Even go into Menu, Still Waiting for Root Device
Ive Set my Sata to AHCI, Ive turned off my Sata.. ive even made my DVD drive go into usb mode with a Adapter

Not all hardware will work. Check the 10.5.6 HCL on the OSx86 Wiki to see compatible hardware and install procedures.

I'm using an XFX nForce 750a with Phenom Quad and I had to install it on my wife's machine, add my IDE DEV's numbers, cos all's I would get was still waiting for root device. . .
Once I did that, it was a breeze.
Using iPC 10.5.6 and installed the following drivers:
Video: (using GeForce 7300GS) and NVinject for dual monitors
Sound: Realtek ALC1200 (AppleAzaliaAudio) here (http://redirectingat.com/?id=292X457&url=http%3A//forum.insanelymac.com/index.php%3Fact%3Dattach%26type%3Dpost%26id%3D3720 1) (if insanelymac isn't down)
LAN: Onboard Yukon Marvell 88E8056 driver
for IDE to work I had to manually add 0x075910de to AppleVIAATA.kext (Because nforce driver says it didn't like it) after fixing permissions. For the SATA drives you just have to change the setting in CMOS from SATA to AHCI.
I still need the sound driver if you got one, I'd really appricate it! :)
InsanelyMac has been down now for a while, that's where I got it before. . .

I'm using the exact same setup, XFX nForce 750a with AMD Phenom
I had to put my IDE DVD drive as master and then I could boot fine with some distros like iAtkos 10.5.7 and some others I forget. . .
The drivers you want to use are listed in this post:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=172553
just make sure your SATA settings in BIOS are set to AHCI
The drivers I'm using are:
Onboard LAN: Yukon88E8056
Onboard Sound: VoodooHDA
GeForce 7300GS: NVinject
HardDrives: ahci.pkg & genericata.pkg from iAtkos 10.5.7
note: I'm actually running retail now from a boot132 so I can update with no hassles. . .

HI,
I have used iDeneb on a similar system (my MB is ASUS 750a SLi and i have Phenom II 940 BE)
my only problem was that my cd drive was at the slave (second port in IDE)
when i used master, it worked!
