ive been looking around to see if there was any way to get an apple remote working on a hackmac and i came across a software called Mira, i have installed it and i just have a few questions. firstly will the reciever that gets my mouse and keyboard also work with an apple remote, i have a wireless Logitech S510 keyboard and mouse combo, secondly i have an apple universal dock for my iPhone permenetly hooked up to my hackmac can i use that IR reciever and thirdly do i have to buy an iMac Remote or can i just use the remote that came with the universal dock somehow?

Cheers :D

I'm not following your questions completely, but no matter. :) I'm using Mira for a long time and it works great. You need an eHome-compatible IR receiver for it, these are supplied by a Windows Media Center 2005 / Windows Vista remote control. You get them rather cheap on ebay, I paid between 2 and 15 Euro. But they are not all types of receivers working, and don't buy a Windows Media Center 2003 remote, they don't work. There are also some newer models with an RF USB-Stick available, you need one using infrared.

This is the Apple Remote you need. I got them for 10 Euro on ebay.

Aydinz, you can't use the IR receiver of your universal dock - apparently the IR receiver of the dock is not wired to the USB port and can't communicate with the computer. I don't think the one used by your keyboard will work, either.
But the good news is that your remote will work fine without any manipulation once you get a compatible IR receiver. The remote that came with your dock is exactly the same as those used by Macs.

I really don't want to bring up old threads... but I can't get my setup to work. I am running 10.5.8 with all the security and java updates (if that makes a difference)

I have an eHome receiver and an Apple Remote... Mira software recognizes the receiver just fine but when i try to pair it with the remote it doesn't work! :(

I tested this on another Hackintosh (intel based) and the receiver and the remote work just fine, so my guess is it has something to do with my setup.

I tried uninstalling, deleting the mira driver, even trying remote buddy and all to no avail. I cannot get this to work. The receiver light comes on and freezes when it detects the remote (and mira does not respond) Please help out!
