This is my scenario.

I'm running Leopard 10.5.5 on my MSI P6N Diamond motherboard. So far it's running ok but my main qualm is with my graphics card.

The Graphics Card that I'm running as can be seen from the title of this thread is the MSI NX 6600 TD256E card. The link to that is here - http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=NX6600-TD256E_Lite&class=vga

Initially, I was able to change resolutions and get some additional functionality by using NVInject. I then installed PC EFI v9 and attempted to use the EFI strings. I was able to get this far by adding my NVCAP value to the hex and pasting it into the boot.plist file:-

Would anyone be able to give me insight into whether my card just doesn't support Quartz Extreme and Core Image? Or insight into what to do to get it working?

Have you tried NVDarwin? I have the same card and EFI strings didn't work since 10.5.4 or .5 for me.
With NVDarwin Quartz Extreme and Core Image are supported.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the advice. I have downloaded and installed it. I'm just pending a reboot. Before I did that, I wanted to share the results of my research.

NVDarwin is succeeded by CoreVidida.

The latest version that I have seen is 1.1

The original link to the peeps who release it is followed by a Google Translate Link:-

Hope that this may help someone. I'll post back with an update as to the results after my reboot.

Thanks again. ;)

No dice. Exact results as with the EFI String.

Would it be possible for you to attach the Info.plist for your CoreVidia kext?

I'll attach mine as well so that we can compare differences and see if there is something I missed. I had to tag .txt onto the end of the file so that it would upload.

Thanks in advance.

Sure, no problem at all.

Navigate to /System/Library/Extensions/

Right click on CoreVidia.kext and click "Show Package Contents" in the contextual menu. In the folder that pops up, you will see the Info.plist file.

Thanks in advance.

Mhh -
I don't have such a kext in my /System/Library/Extensions/ folder...

Oh right. I'm sorry.

The kext you are looking for is most likely called NVDarwin.kext

Let me know if you find it.

Great news.

After performing a re-install of my distribution, I was able to get everything working with CoreVidia. I didn't have dual monitor support until I added my NVCAP value to the file.

Full CI and QE. This is really sweet.

I'm attaching a screenshot of it work and the Info.plist in the event that it can come in useful to someone.

Thanks a lot for all your help on this and pointing me in the right direction. I really do appreciate it. This will enhance my OSx86 experience tremendously.

Thanks again!!!
