Hey guys! Seems the other forum is down, so I'd figure I'd come over here. :)

I have an iDeneb 10.5.6 DVD that won't install on my Travelmate 8210. I know the DVD works because I've installed it on a different machine with no problems. On my laptop, it panics at this module dependency:
com.apple.driver.AppleIntel8254XEthernet(2.0.2a2)
Obviously there's more code, but I didn't copy it all.

The network card in my laptop is a Intel PRO/1000 PM gigabit eithernet card and my guess is that this driver isn't compatible with it (or it's broken). Is there a way to prevent that module from loading or should I try another DVD?

You can try disabling the Network card in the BIOS.

Unfortunately, this is a laptop, so Acer has implemented an idiot-proof BIOS. There isn't any option to switch off the Ethernet card. I tried appending the various options to the DVD boot loader (-v -x -s -F) and I still didn't get anywhere. It's too bad that OS X doesn't work like FreeBSD where I can disable modules at the boot prompt before the kernel is loaded into memory.

Perhaps I should rephrase the question. Has anyone used an Intel gigabit ethernet card (PRO/1000) with their OS X build? iDeneb may have an issue, but perhaps another build may not.
